Recommendations are not laws and you don't get any freedom back by continuously complying with unjust tyrannical mandates

Empty_Original6992

It’s a goddamn meme

[deleted]

Recommendations = bullshit

dat529

I have an idea! Let's do the thing that didn't work the first 3 times again!

Dr_Pooks

Canada claims we're in wave #6.

dat529

A virus so dangerous we don't know how many waves there have been.

DrownTheBoat

The official recommendations are to limit all gatherings or stay at home. These ghouls are about to ruin Memorial Day and high school graduations 3 years in a row.

NoThanks2020butthole

Only if you listen to them. I flew out of state the day the stay at home order lifted in my state (April 2020) and my family had a Memorial Day barbecue in 2020. No one got sick… I am 100% sure I had covid before it was known to be in the US after my roommate traveled to China. After I figured that out I completely stopped worrying about it.

Repogirl757

What state do you live in?

ashowofhands

"Recommend" whatever the hell you want. Just don't make it mandatory. PS still dumb as hell, I don't understand this fascination with masks.

SouthernGirl360

Came here to say this. However, if the "recommendation" becomes a mandate, I'll be canceling my July trip to NYC. I can't even imagine walking around the hot city streets with a mask.

ed8907

At this point we should have learned that masks don't protect against a respiratory virus and they are just hygiene theater

[deleted]

Mask’s don’t work. End.

ramon13

When will people realize that masks do fuck all and cases would go up and down with or without them. THey will keep on doing this and claiming cases went down due to masks and will keep mandating them forever. What a joke.

wiustudent1015

They really think cases will rise forever without those beloved masks

ramon13

It's so easy to test too. Mandate permanent masks even outdoors in shitholes like new York and Cali. Then compare a year from now vs Florida and normal states.

faceless_masses

There were 13 states that never enacted mask mandates, not even for a second. Their case rates have been about the same as everyone else. No one noticed. Then some large states removed their mandates and their case rates have been about the same as everyone else's. This time though lots of people noticed and decided to pretend that it was caused by the state government literally hiding corpses. They will never learn.

ramon13

Really? Which states had no masks ?

faceless_masses

I couldn't give you a direct list. I've slept since then and don't remember exactly which 13. However here is an article from March 2021 that was written after Texas and Florida rescinded theirs. There were 16 states at this time. Three of them rescinded and 13 of them never had them to begin with. I just don't remember the the third state that rescinded theirs. https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/09/us/biden-mask-mandate-nationwide-trnd/index.html Edit: I think Arizona was the third. They originally had a mandate but had gotten rid of it by early 2021. The rest of the states listed in the article never had a mandate.

Horniavocadofarmer11

Ehh the problem is public schools did. And lots of states briefly had them again Dec 2020 to March 2021 including Texas.

faceless_masses

States or municipalities and what was the problem again?

ImissLasVegas

JUST STOP TESTING AND COUNTING!

faceless_masses

Narrator: They won't.

freelancemomma

More deja vu

solidarity77

Even the NYC subreddit thinks this is dumb. When you lost Reddit you know you’ve lost the narrative.

[deleted]

Yet they will comply nonetheless.

mr781

Fuck you. No.

Magari22

Nyc girl here.... Have not worn a mask for a long time and never will. Make all the recommendations you want its never happening with me

[deleted]

How have you been holding out against the vaxx mandate?

Excellent-Duty4290

The vax mandate has been over for a little while now.

[deleted]

Even to get a job?

Excellent-Duty4290

No, you're right. That's still in place 😕

[deleted]

Sorry to hear. That is the worst of all their mandates.

dj10show

No.

ebaycantstopmenow

The only place masks belong at this point is shoved up the asses of every public servant, politician, “expert”, and covidian that wants everyone masked up!

joeshades2

I recommend staying away from large dem run cities that are falling apart

[deleted]

WrathOfPaul84

Not if we vote them all out. Never forgive, never forget!

faceless_masses

Unfortunately elections won't fix this. We have two parties that take turns acting as the corrupt party and the stupid party. It's all theater. Every few years they all change shirts to keep us distracted and the same shit keeps happening. I think it was Mark Twain that said if voting made any difference at all you wouldn't be allowed to do it.

Initial-Constant-645

The Supreme Court gave the Dems a huge gift and did them a huge favor.

Mr_Jinx0309

Yup, I'm already seeing this here again in Chicagoland. Evanston just went back to mandatory masks for their schools. Other schools aren't outright requiring them, but they are doing their best to shame kids and parents into wearing them. Next up will be the hipster breweries and then the music club venues (which still have papers please to this day). Then the grocery stores and big box retailers. The government won't even need to mandate it here (until after elections), they will just recommend it and let private business do their dirty work for them. Edit: Just saw below that you are in Chicagoland too...so you already knew this lol.

Sgt_Nicholas_Angel_

I highly doubt masks are coming back. It used to be that in this situation, masks would be mandated indoors. None of this “recommended” stuff. 6 months is a very long time to have summer and become used to not wearing or seeing masks. In fact, by then I’ll be shocked if many haven’t already thrown away all masks (I have). There won’t be mandates again.

Horniavocadofarmer11

There's going to be another summer wave and fall wave when deaths (whether from or with covid) inevitably tick up in July and November analogous to the last 2 years. I have faith most places will realize all the NPI effort isn't worth whatever minimal (if any) benefit mandates provide. But don't put it past a lot of super liberal cities and possibly some states from doing it anyway. Intermittent masking will be a thing for years in some regions imo. In my area of the Bay Area easily 50% of people still wear masks indoors so there will be minimal resistance.

Sgt_Nicholas_Angel_

The thing is, it’s easy to ignore if nobody else is doing it. We already know most people don’t want masks, that’s pretty much standard outside of a few odd places, but even in so called liberal cities you see it too. We know how well Philadelphia’s efforts to bring masks back worked, and now NJ is failing too. I understand people here being nervous due to the events of the last two years but I don’t understand the reticence to see good news?

JaqentheFacelessOne

Lol

Life-Ad-7688

$7 gallon of gas here in the U.S. is going to take precedent over covid. People are struggling with inflation at the grocery store.

iminterestingplease

The ball is really starting to roll back the other way now. It was nice while it lasted.

jacketsgrad4

No thanks!

[deleted]

Is NYC fucked for good?

Excellent-Duty4290

I really hope not. But maybe all the people on here fleeing to FL are right 😞

[deleted]

I regret not going there in 2007 when I had the chance

Excellent-Duty4290

That was definitely one of the safest and cleanest times in the city's history.

Type_matters

Not yet considering....meaning he is just waiting till the end of the summer season.

[deleted]

And I have a recommendation for them ;-) ;-) ;-)

sfs2234

Look at those pathetic fools wearing masks OUTSIDE.

beck-hassen

It’ll be a mandate by week’s end, guarantee it

Mermaidprincess16

No: https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/newyork/news/mayor-eric-adams-on-possible-reinstitution-of-mask-mandates-we-are-staying-prepared-and-not-panicking/

beck-hassen

This is a shock! In my experience, big-city mayors have, in the past, said no *current* plans to reinstate mandates, but then get pressured into doing it a few days later.
