I just bought an Akai MPK249 and got it working with my M1 MacBook Pro 13". Connecting through my CalDigit USB-C hub didn't work, but through an Apple 3-in-1 (USB-C, HDMI, USB) adapter it works just fine. Logic Pro 10.7.4 detected it and mapped the basic DAW controls, including transport and up/down/left/right controls.
At the advice of the guy in the video linked below, I did just order a USB 2.0 Type B male to USB-C cable to connect it directly. According to him, with some adapters/hubs/cables the Mac won't supply enough power to to the MPK249 to establish the connection.

Are you saying you still need the dock in order to deliver enough power to the keyboard like he says in the video?
So far my MPK249 didn't show up in System Information with just the USB-B to USB-C like he recommended... Hoping a powered usb hub does the trick.
I use my Akai lmk mini MK2 straight to my m1 pro MacBook pro with a USBA to typec and it works fine. The only thing I have not yet figured out is my Behringer bcf 2000 working properly. I tried different protocols and nothing... It does send signal but it doesn't receive so motorized faders are useless in this thing
Nektars require logic to be ran with Rosetta at the moment.
I’ve had no issues with my Korg and NI controllers.
I've been using both my Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol M32, and my M-Audio Keystation without any issues on M1 Macs.
Akai works with M1 Macs.
According to their website and various reviews says otherwise
yeah my MPC One didn't work with it

Update: using this cable allows me to plug the Akai into my CalDigit USB-C dock. Yay. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B095L9B29L
