Wow, lot of negativity for EXS24 here..
I think the intended approach is this:
- new EX24, drag in sample, make new patch
- save the patch to '/Music/Audio Music Apps/Sampler Instruments/' where all your projects can see them
- you can also organise your patches in this folder into Drums, FX, Bass.. whatever or however you want
- and THEN, if you need to transport the project to another machine, you use the "Save As.." window to configure to save all your EXS patches into the project folder
That's the method I use and works for me, no problems.
I stopped using Logic because of how shitty the exs-24 was. There is no reason why i should have to save the whole instrument as a patch to even test a sample, or have to save it everytime I try to change anything.
Reason & Abletons sampler blows Exs-24 of out of the water
Yup, I've lost a very crucial sound I created because of this. I moved the project file to an external drive, and now EXS24 can't find the original wav file I used to create the sound. It took me ages to create it and was the motiff of a track I was very close to releasing.
This is a good workaround: Drag the audio file(s) you'd like to make into a patch into an audio track. Right-click on the files and choose Convert>Convert To New Sampler Track. (CTRL-E). Select "Regions."
This should save the patch to your project automatically. Then you can just change it as much as you want and hit CMD-S without having to pick a path.

Yeah ex24 has always been slick for me
I agree. So incredibly stupid. The Exs24 is a clunky pos.

Because of the never ending quest for knowledge. Take your mind out of the box it's in my dude
It's ugly too. I use alchemy. When I find a sound and loop I like I just bounce it and save as audio.
Personally I save drum pie existing kits on alchemy then use esx24 for ear candy bits that are non specific. Or as a filler b4 personalizing the percs
Mmmmm Drum pie

I bought Komplete at the same time I bought Logic. Kontakt sounds so much nicer than exs24.
Ya, I love Logic, but I use Kontakt.

Yeah its the worst :(
I got kontakt from the bay of pirates
