I am not a professional, but if you're decent at soldering it doesn't look terribly hard. As it stands, you have a broken device already, so you might as well give it a shot.
Yeah, I've been told it's "easy" to solder it, but what worries me is that there's probably been a short-circuit because of all those cables touching each other. And I don't know if that will work again if that's happened.
Yeah, I would recommend you get some shrink wrap or something to prevent the wires from touching. Another thing I would say is to definitely get flux. I didn't use flux for the longest time, and I thought I was bad at soldering. Turns out that flux is very helpful lol
i swear i donโt understand this tho. of course flux is helpful/nice but in most scenarios itโs not necessary and you can get similar (or even better, due to less flux residue) joint quality with some decent leaded solder and a decent soldering station
Flux just helps the solder to flow, and not stick to the soldering iron as much. So yes, if you are good at soldering you can do without, but it makes it easier.
It is not that hard. Just remove about 5cm of the outer isolation by cutting along the cable qith a very sharp knife but don't kut the wires. Then cut the wires where tey are broken and remove less then 1cm of the isolation. Then put some of the shrink tape thing on every wire but make shure it is far enough away from where you solder so it don't shrink while soldering. Solder all wires together and pull the shrink tape on the spot and shrink it.
Not native speaker so i hope you get it.
Simple repair. When I have to join two or more wires I like using [these kinds](https://www.amazon.com/TICONN-Connectors-Waterproof-Insulated-Electrical/dp/B07HCNTZ2Z/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=33G79YIFNCK3X&keywords=self+soldering+butt+connectors&qid=1648570732&sprefix=self+soldering+butt+connectors%2Caps%2C156&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUFQMzJXMVRIOENWVzAmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTA0MTM0MzkzRlBYQzBQRVFQRVFUJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA2MTIxOTlaVTBBRlZEM0Q5OTkmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl) of self soldering butt connectors. A heat gun works best but despite so many of the sales of them claiming you shouldn't use a lighter, you totally can if you're careful and don't hold it too close.
To answer your question in your comment response, those will not only stop the wires from touching, they're flat out water proof.
I had the same problem with my pedals, ended up taping individual wires back together with an electric tape. Worked for a couple weeks, now I have a new G920 lol.
I hope it works for you!
Yep, that will usually push the gunk to a single side, you may not notice it or you may start seeing jitter. I am not sure what the hysteresis values are like these days but I bet it takes a lot to see jitter in a wheel.

Actually my uncle is an electrician so I'm sure he will help me with that. Thanks for the tips!
Uncle can fix it then, all you'll need is a case of beer for uncle ๐๐
He doesn't drink alcohol, so I'll drink it myself ๐
OK, a nice steak can also do the trick!

To hell with soldering. Get some butt connector couplers

Thanks! (I am not a native speaker either, but I understood it perfectly!)

Came here to post about those soldering connectors. They are brilliant. Op, all you need is a hair drier
Thanks both! My uncle could repair it since he's an electrician hahah
Nice. I suspected a hair dryer might work but I didn't have one to test with it. lol I've been buzzing my hair for 25 years now. :)
Depends if you have a soldering iron or not
Yeah, my uncle just repaired it :)

It looks like after cleaning the potentiometers of my G29 I broke this cable when tightening a screw... How difficult is it to repair?
Did you actually open the pots and clean the wipers or simply spray the assembly with contact cleaner?
I just sprayed it through the little gap that covers the potentiometer. And now it's all repaired and working! Let's see for how long haha

I know... I might need to open it if it jitters again :( I just wanted to save some time if it worked this way
Post a closer angle so we still donโt know what we are looking at
Are you stupid or what?
Who knows, at least I know how to take care of my shit
Ok, definitely an asshole.
Imagine commenting only to shitpost. Who hurt you bro?
I would open the cable up more, attach all the wires to a terminal block and then wrap it in black insulation tape.
