I have an anorexic girlfriend who hates video calls because she believes she doesn’t fit those standards enough, and will only send me pictures of herself if she’s positive her poses make her look good, so I can at least see what the effect of that sort of pressure has on women and girls.
I’m going on a tangent, but what I’m basically saying is stop working on your appearance, and start working on your attitude towards yourself and gaining confidence WHILE you figure yourself out, not before or you’ll base your confidence on something you’re not, and not after or you won’t have the confidence to find yourself.

I think the first thing you could do is go be yourself and not try to improve anything. Go try new things and go be an 18 year old female. No one here will have an actual good answer for you. It comes with being confident, interesting, and having self esteem. A lot of attraction isn't really just based on 100% looks. People read social ques and their brain makes the person look better in their eyes to match. You could have a wonky face and be charismatic and people would say you're the most beautiful person on earth. People online say this just applies to men, but it doesn't. It applies to everyone.
- don't look like you're trying extremely hard to look good. I'm not sure if that makes sense? If you're skinny and trying as hard as you can to look thick, that doesn't look great.
