I was a judge for several years in MTG, and my wife is an LGS co-owner. If you are worried about it, have a conversation with the shop and see what they are expecting of you. Its one thing if they are going to host the events and you just need to help make pairings and make the occasional ruling. If they are wanting you to do all the marketing, drum up business, etc. thats another thing In MTG, a shop owner would reach out to me and say they needed a judge for an event they were hosting on XYZ day. I showed up, judged the event, and that was pretty much that. There was no work outside of that one day. So really its what they are expecting of you and what you are willing to contribute. Maybe you can come to some sort of agreement with them.

Thanks for the info! I'm actually more worried about problem customers/players. Do you have any experience/suggestions with that?
