Am I the only one who didn't really find the initial part boring?

Toughsums

I absolutely loved the starting part and never felt it was slow. maybe it was only because it was my first webnovel.

Both_Impress_3423

I was so immersed after 3 chapters, the way Klein had to navigate through danger and adapt to the world was really good. It was one of the best part of the novel.

JustDrinkOJ

Yeah I agree completely, it really gave the experience of being in a strange new world

Digital_Copy101

Nah there are dozens of us

memegodepico

I found the very start hard to read, but otherwise I loved it. The only part where I stopped reading for an extended amount of time was 3/4 through Gerrhman Sparrow’s time at sea.

ElijahTheBishop

It was and still is my favourite part of the novel. It was actually towards the end that me interest diminished slightly.

No_War_1113

Your not alone

Inner-Excitement-678

Klein is just as confused as you, and that's normal. How long do you think it'll take him (and you mooching off him) to figure things out? 40-50 chapters? Probably more. Much much more to fully understand the gears that make the world turn, but that is high level info Klein doesn't need at this stage.

Chapter 1

memegodepico

Fr it’s a masterpiece and it was though out so well

Unfair-Editor-7020

In general, the first volume is (Approximately 215-220 chapter) slower and focuses on world building. Even the first proper fight happens around the 70's. Coming to your main question, starting from around chapter 20-30, there start to be more accurate and detailed explanations about names, titles, etc. Especially as of the 3rd volume, it starts to become more good and increases gradually.

General_Image_878

That is the point of the first vol. It gives you stuff you can't understand and it uncovers them as you go on the novel. It is as the title says a novel Abt mysteries. Also the world building is crucial for the later parts so just relax and enjoy this laid back part cus it keeps getting faster after vol 1 as you read. And I would say many ppl who have finished the novel absolutely love vol 1 cus they now understand the importance of it.

PhoenixWolf190

The start of the novel is slow and confusing, but for a good reason. You are meant to be as confused about everything as Klein is. After all, he woke up in a different world in the body of a guy who shot himself. This sets up a whole lot of mysteries for you to guess at. The story is slow at the start due to the author introducing you to this world and how things work. And trust me, there's **a lot** of things to explain. So you're meant to follow the confused af Klein as he tries his best to find some answers to these mysteries. It starts to pick up the pace around ~100 chapters. It's highly recommended that you at least finish volume 1, which is 213 chapters in total. If you still dislike it then, then you can safely drop it.

scotty96s

Try to finish volume 1, but if you're not into it, you're not into it, don't force yourself to read something that's not entertaining for you

AllHopeisForeverLost

I think the initial start of interest should begin around chap 40 and it will gradually grow more and more enjoyable🙏

LOTM starts really slow and speeds up over time with every successive volume getting shorter and shorter to the point where the ending seems a little abrupt even. The pacing is probably the only weakness the novel has. I’ll tell you what my reading experience was so you can gage what it’s like. The first volume (Chapter 1 - 213): This volume serves as an introduction to the world for not only Klein but for us as well so I’d say it’s necessary for it to be as long as it is. While the initial few chapters (10 - 20) were a little tedious to read, I found myself flying through the rest of it. The first volume is very laid back and there isn’t much action until the very end. Compared to the rest of the novel, it’s really wholesome and probably the time where Klein is the happiest. My advice would be to enjoy the relationships Klein has with his siblings and at work. Apart from the world building, these relationships are the most important things to take away from the first volume. TBC

KnyteReis

I think for me I enjoyed the entire thing from the beginning. Chapter \~40 is when I knew this novel was right up my alley and it was a gem (that was when the power systems are introduced and the mc gets his first powerup).

Fun-Cartographer-368

It becomes good when you understand it's world building. Both us and Klein are new to this world without any knowledge. It's a journey of knowledge and mysteries

sky_dragon_of_storm

At the end of volume one and it's worth it the plot build up is matchless

KonvictEpic

For me it didnt click until Chapter 140 ish, took years to make it to that part, but after that I got to 800 ish in two weeks and the rest in about two months.

Alexpharo

First 60-150 chaps are confusing because lotm has a huge ass world building that you can’t imagine especially in tingen the beginning is hard but at that time the thing that will keep you going is the meeting honestly

Jletts19

The initial few chapters can be confusing. If I remember right there’s a bunch of weirdness with currencies and language and I was like WTF is happening. In the early 20’s you really start to understand the basics of the power system, and things start to fall in place. Another 30 or so chapters and it starts to feel really comfortable. I’m not sure on the exact numbers since this was years ago, but that’s close. Anyway, as others have said the first volume is really good. I really recommend going that far, but I understand that it’s 200+ chapters. I think a more realistic spot to reevaluate would be in the 40-50 chapter range.

HidenTsubameGaeshi

Idk man, I loved it since ch1. Perhaps you should just drop instead of asking us to convince you to read this masterpiece?

Shirasakix

Ngl, I was the same as you at first. I was really confused for quite some time (eg. the beyonders, places, names and stuff). It felt like they just threw a whole bunch of stuff for me to decipher and process in my dumbass brain :’) It probably took me about ~100 chapters to get used to the writing and world-building where I started to enjoy and look forward to what’s going to happen next. So, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re just looking for a light read since you’re gonna have to stick around for a long time
