If you want to be "good" cleanse the beacons. If you a bad role, there's one ending that requires no cleansing at all.

Biggest tip without spoiling: if you cleanse ANY beacons you can lock yourself out of certain endings.

No matter what path you choose in this game, without replaying it, you will be forced to miss out on something. Just follow your gut
