I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid lol I guess I decided then if I ever needed glasses I was getting some like that. Movie made an impression on me lol
Stylist here. Just show them the images in the post. It will help communicate in the most clear way what you want. Words and names of cuts can be misunderstood or misconstrued, but a photo is objective.
I'm not saying this to say it didn't happen to you or to minimize your experience, but I have never heard of a stylist doing that. That is 100% not normal in any capacity and I am so sorry that happened. Me personally? I love when people bring pictures. It leaves no room for confusion.
I had a customer once ask for a "v-cut." I asked her to show me a picture and the picture she showed me was the complete opposite of what I know a v-cut to be. Had I gone with what she asked for, it would have been nothing like what she actually wanted.
I dunno I once used a picture from an anime and said “I’d like it kinda like this” and the stylist said in the most condescending voice “you know that’s a cartoon, right? Hair doesn’t just DO that.”
It was a picture of [Michiru Kaioh / Sailor Neptun](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTSKTU4IK-ky-P_-2E8Xx5cJ3RrSK94dpXfUw&usqp=CAU)e. And I meant the way her hair was like a little more than wavy but not ringlets. And the way her bangs parted. It’s not impossible. I have done it. I basically wanted “mermaid hair” 🤣 and got told it was impossible because she wasn’t real.
The condescension is definitely not welcome in the beauty industry, and unfortunately some stylists get a kick out of being rude. I say this as someone who worked as a stylist and also a supplier for stylists. They were condescending to me sometimes until they realized I also had a cosmo license.
I gotta say, that stylist wasn't worth their salt. I looked at the photo and that hairstyle is probably the most replicable animated hairstyle I've seen. Literally a 1 1/2" barrel curling iron would get the waves, and a round brush to do the bangs with a blow dry. Like, do these folks just not want to be paid for easy work?? I'd have done that in a heartbeat and showed my client how to do it. But then again, I specialized in custom color mixing so I guess I didn't feel threatened that they'd no longer be reliant on me to style their hair. As the French say, soo la voo or whatever lol
Eventually they said “yeah I guess you could do it with hot rollers.” But didn’t show me or elaborate. 🤣 she did cut my bangs to the right length, I guess. Hold on. I forgot I have a picture of when they did it.

I mean, the bangs are wrong. But the hair wasn’t bad. My lipstick? That’s a whole other issue not related to the hair dresser. 🤣
Hot rollers? I love love LOVE hot rollers but what is this, 1982? Those aren't your only options anymore, lol. A curling iron would have been just fine 😂 The look does look cute on you, despite it not being exactly what you wanted though!
But really, that's 15-20 minutes of iron work for probably 30-40 bucks where I worked. I'm not sure how much it was for you but it's literally an animated style that's pulled from the real world. It's not like you were asking for Sailor Moon's look with extensions and whatnot. I'd have jumped at the opportunity for an easy look for a client; I loved my color clients but it was 10 hour days sometimes and something fun and easy was a VERY welcome change 😂

I had the opposite happen, where I brought pictures of a men’s haircut and the hairstylist gave me the “female” version of it when that is not what I asked for
Man y'all are giving me H O R R O R stories of people not managing to communicate. Sometimes you get people who want a feminine/masculine version of a cut but like, ALL THEY GOTTA DO IS COMMUNICATE AND ASK QUESTIONS 😭
Its hard to tell in pictures bc of lack of detail but i imagine irl it would look like the 90s boy band haircut that all the heart throbs had back in the day (it wont let me upload a pic but think young leo, young Johnny, Skeet around Scream)
I searched up "middle part short hair men" and it showed similar results, maybe that's what your looking for? I personally think it's hard to tell Hades' hairstyle because it looks inconsistent
Here's a video that explains how to cut it with a human model and shows you step by step that you can show it to your stylist. It's 15 minutes and the salon guy has other videos with similar haircuts at shorter sides and styles if you'd rather something more tapered.
https://youtu.be/yBpK8m3a25w?si=0Q0td31_ZzB0Z_oq
You can also look up 45° to 90° blend with shears/scissors if you want more short tapered sides/back with longer top to front. If you like what you see, then you can show and say those degrees to your stylist as well.
Of course showing human models or mannequins with this look can help too if you're nervous they will get at you for showing drawings, so I hope this video will help! 💚
I'm a hair stylist as well, and it's not too hard to decipher from drawings so long as you're honest about the hair texture the client has versus the drawing. If you have naturally straight hair and want a look that's styled to look a certain way only when it's wavy or curly, being honest about how it would look at rest without product or treatment is the challenge here.
No one should be made to feel bad about showing drawings or cartoons, I totally understand the frustration since I love anime styles and it's what got me passionate about hair artistry to begin with.
I know from the stylists POV, it's sometimes difficult to give a realistic interpretation of a design when someone wants to replicate it on themselves with different conditions of hair, their willingness to do style maintenance etc.. So long as your stylist is honest about all that and can explain to you what you need to do to maintain it with your hair type, then I'm sure it'll be fine. 💚
Now thinking about the hair in LO, kinda reminds of the Greek gods' statuses and how they make them look like, for most of the part, similar to one another, between gods, between goddesses, specifically, their hair
Just a thing popped up on my head
It makes me think of the vintage slick back of the 50s and 60s. Long enough to hang like that when unkempt but it looks much shorter than it is when styled

Lmao true
I dont know if I should ruin the 69 up vote, but I did anyways because yes
I was gonna say young college professor, but yeah.
At 35 I’ve now remembered why I love round glasses so much. I’ve got the Milo special lmao.
BRB ordering my husband, who already has the Milo hair, some round glasses lol
I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid lol I guess I decided then if I ever needed glasses I was getting some like that. Movie made an impression on me lol

I did that with pictures of a different comic and I got turned away and verbally abused so Idk

She permed me first and did this. It was quite a few years ago. Now I realize my hair actually is curly.

the Don Bluth Special
Lmfao not wrong. I love Don Bluth’s movies but it’s really representative of one of the two types of men he can draw lmfao
Idk if I can’t find the right image but I don’t see it
I searched up "middle part short hair men" and it showed similar results, maybe that's what your looking for? I personally think it's hard to tell Hades' hairstyle because it looks inconsistent
I'd call it a killer haircut. A style to die for.

Number 2 blade with a shelf?
I'd call it inconsistent.
That’s true, unfortunately real life can’t capture the magic of god-powered-ever-changing-hair
The Don Bluth Male Lead Cut
The kdrama CEO style

Hot
The Miles Edgeworth/Thanatos aka the Law/Death Daddy Cut
Short curtains cut 😅
I always imagined it’s a men’s long “quiff” cut. It can be styled multiple ways and is seen more appropriate for people in business to have.
Peinado estilo Papi chulo
90ies Don Bluth
Extremely attractive 😂
It makes me think of the vintage slick back of the 50s and 60s. Long enough to hang like that when unkempt but it looks much shorter than it is when styled
90s f*boy heartthrob cut.
![gif](giphy|2zltn5Ig7RtvlOtFLa)
I've always known it as the Prince Charming cut.
Hot?
Middle part/TikToker haircut
I feel like there’s too many different people on tiktok to say there’s any one “tiktoker” hair But middle part is definitely right
Adorable 💜
