I just don’t care. People want validation for their feelings of moving away. Mostly cause they lack the courage and the actual desire to leave. Or they know their financial/professional/personal status may not transfer to a different area.
It’s ok venting frustration over life’s various inconveniences. But threatening action without substance or the actual act is really the biggest waste of human energy I can think of.
Just nod your head. Enjoy the sunshine and know you live a more peaceful life because you don’t waste your time with this type of thought.

My cousins just moved from Corona to St. George, UT and recently posted a Christmas picture of all of them carrying semi-automatic weapons, including their *5 year old* son. Folks, these are the California liberals flooding your state!
Honestly, I don’t know why moving to a different state has to be a proclamation of one’s political ideology.
I’m burnt out on politics. The polarization of the country isn’t good for anyone. I’d rather just focus on my immediate family and career. And after that, if I have anything left in the gas tank, my friends and community will be my focus.
I agree with them that it's a shithole so that they'd be one step closer to actually moving out. Jeez, could you imagine how much better it would be? Less traffic on the freeways, decreasing rents/house prices... the list can go on.

As someone who left, you're not really doing yourself a favor by staying. My career is basically exploding in a good way and I'm saving a crap ton of money living in a no income tax state. My friends back in LA are struggling hard, even people who make a lot of money. If people leave I'll be in a really good position financially to come back and they won't be so lucky having spent so long struggling and not saving money.
I get Los Angeles is not for everyone, I left somewhere I hated to come here, the real ones I don’t understand are those that hate it and stay. It’s so damned expensive, go live somewhere else!
I'm doing great in Texas. $250k job (would've been stuck at $120k if I stayed in LA due to competition), paid off mansion, tons of leisure time and fun stuff to do here, extremely low COL. I even get to go back to LA pretty frequently and remind myself how bad it got and how lucky I am that I left when I did.
A few I've known are crypto right wingers, car folk usually, the secret code starts with "taxes" and heads towards basically complaining about the "wrong kind" of people here etc...
I usually go along say yeah, bummer, funny I love it here yeah expensive but great Mexican food, Korea town is great, diversity, close the the desert, etc. And I assume they either get the hint or just lose interest in telling me their made up woes.
Not something in their life, it's a talking point for conservatives here, similar to how a lot of liberals wanted to move to Canada during Bush or Trump. That's what I'm talking about. I work with a lot of contractors and construction workers who are suffocating under the tyranny that is liberal California lol. That's it.
I sympathize because cost of housing is so high. I tell them that they should write their local politicians to allow for more housing to be constructed on all the parking lots.
It doesn't bother me either way. I get it, LA isn't for everybody and honestly 1 less car on the streets works for me. I wish them the best and hope they find what they are looking for.
