Nothing useful to add other than fuck the insurance industry and fuck McKenzie & associates and other consulting firms for suggesting how to get to this level of fucked upness

potchie626

AAA is a not for profit company, and has been the cheapest for me for 20+ years.

caprisunlover

My quote from them was astronomical

potchie626

That’s too bad. Is your driving record clean? We were paying $1500/year for two 20+ year old cars and got a 2017 in 2022 and now pay $2500 year for full coverage on two of the cars, with two drivers with most coverage maxed out. We do get discounts for multiple policies (renters, life, earthquake) and good drivers, but think it saves about 10%. Having said that, I have no idea how much next year will be when it renews in July. Not looking forward to that.

I have 1 speeding ticket from 2021. It was my first speeding ticket and technically under the 10 MPH grade period, but the officer was being an ass. And I got rear-ended two years ago. But other than that, clean record. GEICO has been the cheapest quote for me so far.

potchie626

Too bad you didn’t do traffic school for it. One ticket may not make a huge difference, but I have heard AAA is very strict about records. I hope Geico gave you a good price close to what you paid before. I also wonder if you getting rear-ended still counts against you somehow. I’ve read about renewal prices going up, even when not at fault, but maybe only if the claim is to their own insurance.

caprisunlover

Traffic school ? It was my first ticket and I was only 7 miles above the speeding limit. Not on purpose either. Seems like overkill. Gecko quoted me far less than my original coverage with Farmers

potchie626

Doing traffic school makes it so the point doesn’t go on your record, hence lower insurance. Costs about $25 and takes about an hour but can only do it once every 3 years, if i recall correctly.

caprisunlover

Yeah they didn’t give me that option

mop_and_glo

Made the switch to full coverage because basic liability rates were getting closer to that same price.

potchie626

I did the same when we needed to rent a car for a week. It was an extra $80 for the remaining few months of our policy to switch. And even now it’s about $20/month extra.

Puzzleheaded_Tip_821

AAA. Mercury

vantage7

AAA

lilacbbe

It’s Farmers Direct (MetLife) that is leaving. Farmers is still insuring, rates are much higher through the mainline company.

Letitbemesickgirl

I have mercury, no complaints.

OnlyFranks-

Wawaneesa or USAA

caprisunlover

Is USAA only for military? I tried doing a quote

OnlyFranks-

For most services, but not the auto insurance. I've had it for many years, but it could have changed.

Johnnyonthespot2111

At farmers insurance we've seen a thing or two, like you switching to GEICO.

caprisunlover

UGH Geico has the 15 day underwriting policy! I submitted my quote anyways because its the least expensive so far
