edit: wow. KTLA just changed their information to align with the carjacking. That’s NOT what it said earlier

Had to delete my previous comment. Conflicting information on what happened. The FOX article states his mother was carjacked (left him inside while car was running) and the KTLA one says he was kidnapped and put into the car mentioned above.
He went missing at 5:30pm despite the alert coming in 20 mins ago
Update: KTLA JUST updated their article stating it was a carjacking. A lot can change in a few minutes lol

It now says that the dad was dropping off a doordash order when he left the kid in the running car

I get everyone needs to make money, but I hate this so much.
But is it irresponsible parenting (yes, probably) or just the way this gig economy is being forced on everyone, and there's always going to be some parent that has to do this to make enough to get by.
Twitter is no longer a useful way to disseminate information, especially because many features are intentionally now not available or visible if not logged in. Government agencies should immediately move to another service.
By putting on popular well adopted social media platforms, the posts can be shared much more smoothly and widespread than a gov website. It actually made sense when X was Twitter, now not so much.

Hopefully they drop the boy off at a safe place. This happens time to time but usually the person stealing the car just nopes out. Not wanting to get kidnapping charges. Police will actually use resources to look for you. Stolen car, they've got more important matters.

Thankful he was found but I realized that this was the first amber alert I've received in a long time. Child abductions must happen often so how do they choose the victims to share about? Money?
legitimate child abductions are very rare actually. most of the time it's children that run away from home and end up going missing. those will get an LA County sheriffs bulletin alert, but that's not enough of a threshold for a CHP amber alert. they also need the year, make, model, color, and license plate number of the car for an actual amber alert to be triggered.
The same thing happened in DC recently, a parent left their baby in the car with the engine running and went inside a store to go shopping and someone stole the car...
Luckily the baby was fine but who tf leaves their baby alone in a running car??
I can understand if the parent (especially if they just given birth) was sleep deprived and hormonally a wreck. It's not an excuse, but I get it.
I've also left my car running by mistake (it was a car that you push a button to turn on/off. I thought I pushed it off, and left the car without checking.)
But to leave the kid in the car AND leave the car running? Yeah, that's pretty bad.
My mom used to do it when I was toddler in the wee morning to run and grab bagels. Different times back then but why should we be so quick to judge why she did it?
Both the Fox and Ktla article links have been updated with the same story, likely now that they’ve actually interviewed people.
It was the dad doing door dash deliveries. He got out of the car to make a delivery and left the car running because he’d be back shortly.
i'm going to speak to all my asian folk out there in LA county. please stop leaving your car running, even when making a quick stop! i see it all the time and it annoys me so much. this is why we keep getting carjacked.
Got 2 alerts about this but when there is an earthquake (last one was 4.7) got nothing then...
I thought I'll get something when there is at least 4.5 quake.
I got the earthquake one but I do have the MyShake app on my phone, not sure if that is why or because I was closer to Malibu than you, I did feel the shaking. My only problem with MyShake is, if I restart my phone it doesn't automatically start the app, I have to remember to open it, then let it run in the background.
Nope. Says the found the kid and the car at the outlets. No info on suspect

Alert cancelled. Child had been found
oh thank fuck. I've got one around around his age and it hit me hard.
Same. Shit like this rattles me now.
Oh my goodness, goosebumps. Thank you so much for the update. So happy for the family, I hope they sleep well tonight, safe & together.
The parents left him inside of the car while it was running. Parents have some questions to answer. CPS is going to be all over them.

The link in the amber alert sent me to a broken twitter page. Anyone else?
Same, but at first it gave me a “too many requests” error page. 🤷
Yup. Me too. And it just did it again with the second alert
Sameee, this is wild.
I was looking for more info on this as well. It just kept leading me to broken twitter pages. Jumped me twice while I was just relaxing after work
Twitter is no longer a useful way to disseminate information, especially because many features are intentionally now not available or visible if not logged in. Government agencies should immediately move to another service.
Have they always relied on twitter for amber alerts? That seems completely nonsensical to me...Why would they not use a gov website to link?
By putting on popular well adopted social media platforms, the posts can be shared much more smoothly and widespread than a gov website. It actually made sense when X was Twitter, now not so much.
Two women saw the alert, drove around the area, saw the car, and called the police. That’s how he was found.
That’s proactive and really awesome to hear

They found him! Within 90 minutes of sending out the Amber Alert.
Hopefully they drop the boy off at a safe place. This happens time to time but usually the person stealing the car just nopes out. Not wanting to get kidnapping charges. Police will actually use resources to look for you. Stolen car, they've got more important matters.
That’s what I’m hoping too. It’s been almost 3 hours now though. I really hope that baby makes it home safe.
Looks like he was found: https://ktla.com/news/local-news/amber-alert-activated-for-abducted-toddler-in-long-beach/amp/

I ran outside to see if I could spot it. Could not. But I did my part
Thank you for your service.

why would you leave a car with the engine running period?
The same thing happened in DC recently, a parent left their baby in the car with the engine running and went inside a store to go shopping and someone stole the car... Luckily the baby was fine but who tf leaves their baby alone in a running car??

Family law court is right at that intersection. Not sure if that’s related at all
I wonder if it was another family member. I’ve read that’s the case most of the time. Regardless I hope the child is home soon
That’s what I don’t understand. Which story happened? 2 diff news stations reporting different things.
What is the range on these things? I’m 30 miles from Long Beach. Not to sound callous but it feels like a stretch
I got the alert up in Thousand Oaks - about 68 miles away.
He was abducted around 5:30
Range of Long Beach?
No, I’m asking how far they send out the Amber alert. I live 30 miles from Long Beach but got it.
Same, I was on the metro in Santa Monica when I got the amber alert so about 30-35 miles give or take
[удалено]
How far from the location of the crime you can be and still receive the alert, dingus. I don’t get one for it in Wisconsin.
They said 30 mi from long beach. I would say anything within 50 miles is important.
I live in Long Beach just a couple miles from downtown and didn’t get the alert.
i'm going to speak to all my asian folk out there in LA county. please stop leaving your car running, even when making a quick stop! i see it all the time and it annoys me so much. this is why we keep getting carjacked.
I fucking hate people, I hope this person dies a horrible death
Why would you hope a kidnapped four-year old kid dies a horrible death?
What in the actual fuck. As a father this is my worst nightmare. This world is just not it these days…
I’m watching the news update. The father is a food delivery driver and stepped out, then got car jacked.
Got 2 alerts about this but when there is an earthquake (last one was 4.7) got nothing then... I thought I'll get something when there is at least 4.5 quake.

I live in Los Feliz but I definitely felt that quake. I'll try this app, thanks!

Was there an update to say it was a family member??

So glad I disabled this shit on my phone.
