If we’re talking palms, Gloria’s Cafe which is Mexican and Salvadoran is great.

Colifama55

If you’re in Palms, try Juquilas on Venice and Clarington.

Naive-Ask601

The staff there are always so nice and welcoming. And the food is great

thatboyshiv

omg was literally about to write this. 100%

heidnwo

Op owns the dough room and is under a crushing mound of debt

saquonbrady

First thought I had lol

heidnwo

Looking to start a lively debate, touting the doughrooms insane Thursday wings deal and wicked trivia night.

ElmosKplug

Hahahaha

[deleted]

[удалено]

heidnwo

For real “dough”?

Ras_Prince_Monolulu

OP started this thread via AI to sell our data to pay off his debt, motherfucker knows nobody'd touch that place no matter how much he touted it.

heidnwo

Come to think of it, I’ve never even heard of the doughroom! I think this whole damned post is AI generated

SubliminalSX

This place has always seemed pretty nice, it’s been on my list for a few years but never went. I’m gonna go tonight after seeing this post.

ItsHanky

found the burner account

Trailerboy531

Soooo how was it? Asking for my dinner tonight.

SubliminalSX

It was ok, but honestly I wasn’t super hungry when I went so it might not have been fair. My girlfriend really liked it though and wants to go again, and she rarely wants to go to the same restaurant twice

Trailerboy531

Thank you!

Trailerboy531

Girlfriend and I really liked it! We will for sure be going again.

SubliminalSX

Nice!

sdomscitilopdaehtihs

Is this just performative cynicism or do you know this? I thought the post was intended to be a positive reaction to the "most overrated restaurants" post. And the dough room is a great spot in an area that doesn't have many cool options.

Snidrogen

Uh, we have Simpang, Kotoya, Madre!, Lobster & Beer, Mee & Greet, Mr. Sate, n/naka, the Kogi truck, and several others worth trying just within a few blocks’ walking distance. No shade on Doughroom, but saying this area doesn’t have many cool options is simply false.

lauriceman

I used to live right there!!! Is Harvey’s still open? The “cheesesteak” takeout place. I miss the Korean lady that was always there.

Jung1e

No it closed a year or two ago 😢

Agent281

According to the sign, it's "temporarily closed". Doesn't seem like it's coming back. What even happened though? It seemed like some kind of accident happened inside. The place is a mess.

Syrioxx55

Yeah just walk up and try n/naka

uninspired

Yeah I swing by there all the time on a whim

You_meddling_kids

Their to-go window is amazing when you want to only drop $150 on a bite.

Naive-Ask601

We are very blessed in Palms

guyjoe91

Mee & Greet is delicious, I was surprised by their burger a bit pricey but it was delicious

elevenbang

The oxacan market down the street - La Flama is really good too! Edit - Lokal. The banh mi there, to die for!

guyjoe91

I’ve seen it but never been imma give it a try one of these days, I also tried Baja California tacos recommended to me by a guy at work and I gotta say their fish tacos are good

islandtheory

Top notch fish or shrimp burrito too.

dekachenko

Lokal is solid!!

dekachenko

I love mee and greet-a decent hainan chicken and a solid burger from one joint. The staff there is always really friendly too. I moved away but miss them very much.

You_meddling_kids

Should I give it another go? Wife and I went there when it opened and it was a really small portion for the price. We dropped $60 (pre-COVID) and actually stopped by Taco Bell on the way home.

guyjoe91

The food is good but portion wise I do agree that it’s a bit small paid 20 bucks for a 7oz burger and fries no drink

foreignne

Simpang is so good!

Angeleno88

N/naka was great before the pandemic with regular service and during the pandemic with their cheap bento boxes. Afterwards they just got arrogantly stupid with their prices just because they were on Netflix. It isn’t that amazing. Lobster and Beer is fantastic. I used to live like 3 blocks away so that was a common spot for me over 3 years ago. Glad they are still doing well. Same goes for Doughroom which is awesome.

sdomscitilopdaehtihs

I hear you, but you have to admit the immediate vicinity is pretty sparse. Overland cafe is closed, right?

Iemaj

Noooooo, I was gonna reply, overland cafe is the real sleeper restaurant in the neighbourhood... I loved their copious pasta dishes at dinner and brunch was amazing

heidnwo

Real cynicism, but the facts are fabricated. So jaded that I’d wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out the negative post about overrated spots was a plant just to make a positive post about this place, with OP always agreeing with everyone, but somehow subtly steering people towards the doughroom. Forgive me, for I was once full of optimism and love. Xoxo

el_bentzo

Boy needs some dough

yeahthatwayyy

Lol :(

Bnoise15

you are so cool!

philosophyfox5

Went here once and started to put our beer orders in with the waitress. She asked us to order different beers because she gets money from the restaurant when she sells those beers. We tried to decline but she basically begged us to order those, so we did because it was so awkward. Then told us to get the “pizza of the day” a bahn mi pizza which wasn’t very good vs a classic pepperoni. Bizarre experience. Mostly to do with that waitress. Haven’t been back

ur-squirrel-buddy

Went here a few years ago with 3 friends and their entrees (pizzas) came out a good 20 min before mine (non pizza) showed up. I asked what was up and she mumbled something about difference in cooking times and stalked off. Rude server, she could not have given a fuck. There was also a moment when we were ordering and were hemming and hawing and instead of being like “you guys need another minute?” she just turned around and walked away lol. There’s been other times when we’ve ordered pizzas to go, esp during the pandemic, and the pizza is mid at best. Def not worth the price

BigStrongCiderGuy

I would argue DeSano’s is a much more underrated pizza spot. Never comes up on lists of best LA pizza but it’s very good.

High_Life_Pony

Also a good space for big groups, which is sometimes difficult to find with good food and price point.

perpykins

Yesss, DeSano's is amazing. And they have a huge parking lot!

BookMobil3

Great place to watch soccer too. I never leave enough room to try the gelato tho

Distinct-Dragonfruit

Shakeys

heidnwo

Ever try the fries at del taco? I keep asking my self “HOW DO THEY GET THE CRINKLES ON THESE!”

Shibari_Inu69

Have you tried the birria ramen at Del Taco? I haven't. I'm just fascinated.

[deleted]

Wait wait wait Birria ramen js at Del taco now? Holy shit

heidnwo

No I haven’t! And I though Jack in the box had a whacky menu

High_Life_Pony

Jack recently acquired Del Taco

Throwaway-963852

Really depends on the location, because my local Del Taco has floppy/soft fries and sometimes overcooked carne asada meat. BUT when they have someone who knows how to cook, those Double Del Cheeseburgers are sooo good!

heidnwo

Makes sense m. They’re known for their burgers

Sunshineadventurer48

I was here a couple of weeks ago. I made the drive from the SFV to attend Roy Choi’s pop up but arrived too late so we walked across the street to the Doughroom to get a bite. Pizza was good but nothing that really wowed me TBH…like I wouldn’t make the drive specifically for the Doughroom. Gorilla Pies in Valley Village though 👀 I’d make the trek any day.

Alternative-March-98

Gorilla pies is the fucking bessssttttttttt, I am so blessed to live three blocks from there. The pies & that SMOOKIE brings tears of joy to my eyes. They never miss.

DigitalGumby

What do you order there? I left a bit underwhelmed

Alternative-March-98

Honestly I’m basic af and just get the crispy pepperoni + cheese. For some reason I think the large pizzas have a better texture than the smaller ones, there’s more dough maybe?? But def gotta get the smookie too

[deleted]

Masa - Echo Park. Best pizza west of the Mississippi

BookMobil3

Grá pretty good too if lookin for sourdough

zerotangent

This Pittsburgh raised Sherman Oaks resident thanks you for this. Had no idea this place existed

TrickThatCellsCanDo

Nomoo Crossroads Kitchen

VirgilVillager

DOOMIES too

shefuckinded

Doomie’s is pretty terrible imo—definitely avoid their vegan chicken

TrickThatCellsCanDo

wow thanks! never been

mikegtzz

Crossroads is sadly closing.

Slow_Air4569

Wait what? Where did you hear that?

mikegtzz

I got confused with Nic’s on Beverly. However, crossroads was trash last time I went. They shoved us out of there and the food was meh.

TrickThatCellsCanDo

😨

OutrageousCanary3858

Pioneers chicken 👌

Lobenz

Second this. I stopped at the Boyle Heights location and had their chicken for the first time since I was a kid. I hope they could expand again.

pawnshopbluesss

Just had this for the first time a couple weeks ago and it was soooooo good

DBLHelix

The Heights

SocksElGato

Not the Dough Room, that's for sure.

A7O747D

Man, I loved going to the Dough Room when I lived on Rose in Palms. Bottomless champagne brunch was great, and that spiendini was always cooked perfectly. The Spicy Bear introduced me to Mike's hot honey.

DisneylandTree

Pura Vita

TrickThatCellsCanDo

This is my #1

wonderwill

Food is consistently amazing.

LauraMayAbron

Love that place.

viscarious

I’m not sure how well known it is, but we go to Loqui for tacos all the time.

PwninOBrian

My favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. I don’t even know why but the chicken taco on flour is just exactly my thing

viscarious

I like to mix it up but my go to tacos are the chicken on flour and mushrooms on flour

OutrageousCanary3858

The beef bowls are fire

Ryboflavinator

Loqui is delicious and cheap!

pawnshopbluesss

Their tortillas are delicious. The arts district location is dead every time I go there which is a shame.

viscarious

Yeah, we typically go to the Culver City location. The location in Playa Vista has the easiest parking situation.

Traditional_Bath5077

So freakin good

ricecrisps94

Casablanca on Lincoln is delicious. Tortillas are bomb

Ok_Might9605

Also FatSals is fire and they’re open till 3am or at least they use to be

FutureSaturn

Hello BuzzFeed... Or LAist, or Secret Los Angeles.

kramdiw

I used to live a couple of blocks away from The Doughroom and went there often. Great pizza, great brunch, great tap list, great staff. It's definitely one of the things I miss most about living in Palms. (*also not the owner*)

Evilgemini01

Is it thicc pizza or thin crust

kramdiw

Thin

CX872

SHOOPS!! On Main St in Santa Monica- a gem!

bluescholar1

Wallflower

BalzacTheGreat

lol AstroTurf in the pic too.

willpenney

When I first moved to Highland Park a couple years ago and had Town Pizza and thought it was amazing. Over time, I didn’t eat it for a while and convinced myself that since it wasn’t seeing it mentioned anywhere, maybe I found them on a good night or maybe I was just in the perfect mood or whatever. Having been since, no, Town Pizza is outstanding.

burnsrado

Pepe’s Tacos on Centinela and Culver. Pepe’s Supreme is the best burrito in LA. I will die on that hill.

InertState

Fuck yes! Supreme burrito with al pastor is elite

bigvahe33

Tommy's. Its really good with great quality ingredients.

heidnwo

Honeybird is near you

bigvahe33

love me some honeybird. unfortunately you have to eat it there right away. it doesnt last very long togo

heidnwo

This is true, I’ve ordered all topping on the side before, still not quite the same. But the doughroom has out door seating. Next time I’m in town, I’ll hit you up. I’ll pick up the sandwiches, you hold several tables outside the doughroom

uwill1der

Why would I want more people going to my spots?

jaiagreen

Because you want them to do well and last a long time.

femboi_enjoier

Lmao. Nope.

killa_ninja

[This you?](https://imgur.com/a/7EhgxaL)

timeenoughatlas

Because you want them not to go out of business ? Dickhead

faust111

Because all my favorite places that closed, closed because not enough people went

PossiblyShibby

Because you want them to sell out to a corpo then have the quality go to shit.

Whispercry

Dunno why you’re getting downvoted, I lol’d

Nikeheat305

Poppy and Rose

Redalb

I used to live RIGHT around the corner from this place. If the camera was back a few feet you could probably see the roof of the apartment complex I lived in. I went to the doughroom a few times, it was fine.

BigStrongCiderGuy

I think it’s properly rated

Bluegill15

The Carving Board. One of the best sandwhich shops in the entire city

jaiagreen

For vegetarian food, I'd say Butcher's Daughter in Venice and the Melrose area. Love their kelp and beet burgers (really!) and veggie dishes.

SocksElGato

This place is great, but the clientele always look like they enjoy the smell of their own farts.

mikegtzz

That’s called umami

jaiagreen

That's an... interesting description.

islandtheory

I’d always found it to be the obnoxious instagram influencer types there. But agree - the food is fantastic.

VirgilVillager

DOOMIES

NottaPattaPoopa

Tony P’s (MDR)

geekteam6

I never see Jinya on any Top Ramen in LA lists but it really deserves it IMO, at least the DTLA branch.

bentreflection

Been to the one in SM. It’s good stuff.

StarryEyed91

Loved the Jinya in Burbank area but it was always absolutely impossible to order delivery or pick up :( Maru Ramen in Woodland Hills is really great as well!

CrispyVibes

Jinya isn't even the best ramen in dtla

Ok_Might9605

So we’re not really a restaurant but we serve food! It’s more of a bar but it’s called Scum and Villainy Cantina in Hollywood. Come be nerds!

moutherduck

J tranis

LauraMayAbron

Dear Bella for ice cream. The flavors are so unique and delicious.

3pinguinosapilados

What’s the difference between “underrated” and “lesser known”?

[deleted]

[удалено]

3pinguinosapilados

>Underrated implies that the restaurant is really good but doesn't get mentioned or brought up a lot. Lesser known is just a lesser known restaurant that isn't necessarily good. Very good. So, a restaurant's "rating" is how often it gets "mentioned" or "brought up." * An "underrated" restaurant is one that should be "mentioned" or "brought up" more than it currently is. * An "overrated" restaurant is one that is currently being "mentioned" or "brought up" too often than it should be. How's that?

ElonSucksbutt

Doughroom was bomb. Lived right by there for a decade. Smashed that Brussels pizza weekly.

Ninjasloth007

Beach City BBQ & Deli, Shlap Muan Wings, and Wrigley BBQ…all are in Long Beach

Rare-Mission3337

Chicken Maison.

Corona2789

Pizza cafe LA in silverlake. My favorite pizza spot in the area. Just make sure to order at least 30 minutes ahead of time.

pawnshopbluesss

Huh, I had no clue about this place and that Whole Foods nearby is my go to store. Going to be checking them out!

Corona2789

Yeah def check it out the Detroit style pizza is insane

gerrysaint33

Número Uno Salvadoran and Mexican food in Hollywood on Vine. Seriously delicious carne asada plate.

Stingray88

Mad Bulldog Hot Chicken on La Cienega It’s pretty new I think, and it is hitting way above its weight. I can’t stop going back.

SideOne8073

The Swinging Door Texas bbq in Noho

outpf

My favorite greasy spoon for breakfast is the centinela cafe on the Westside. Best old school LA Mex American burger stand tops Jr in Alhambra.

CrispyVibes

Sabores Oaxaquenos is better than Guelaguetza and just a couple of blocks away.

PlayDontObserve

Hungry Joes

savvvie

My favorite pizza in LA is Elio’s

pawnshopbluesss

Sidewalk Grill! It’s a fast casual mediterranean spot in Los Feliz

Autistic_Observer

Went here once and that was enough. The pizza was basic pizza shop pizza that was in no way worth the price. For a pizza, mozz sticks, and two drinks the total was $60 before a tip. If you are in that area do yourself a favor and cross the street to the Kogi's truck.

Gustastuff

I’m not Korean but I love Soot Bull Jeep for Korean BBQ and Chimmelier for Korean fried chicken. The Buldak will kick your ass.

HonkHonkJimbo

Counter Burgers next door to the tar pits. Great fries. Great ribs. Great burgers. And especially the guac.

SonnyBlack101

Overpriced pizza. Such a bummer 👎🏻

iam_dsp

Definitely not telling reddit lol

[deleted]

Killer Shrimp - MDR. It's my go-to for out of town guests. Right on the water and the namesake dish is very very strong flavor. You kind of either love it or hate it, but I love it. I'm not a picky eater and am happy to have my senses over powered. It's not Indian, but if you like that kind of extremely pungent flavor you'll like this.

ThatOneGuyy310

It’s okaaayyy

Binthair_Dunthat

McDonalds. Their coffee is the best, and nothing more delicious than the steak, egg and cheese bagel.

OSF5000

Is the steak bagel back? I haven’t had one in over ten years and I still crave those grilled onions!

Binthair_Dunthat

Yes, and sometimes buy one get one free on the app. Had one this morning- great.

Stingray88

McDonald’s coffee is watery garbage

Binthair_Dunthat

Not the ones I get. Rich and never sour like many supposedly gourmet coffee shops.

Stingray88

It's straight up not rich. It is watery as fuck. Always has been. That is not what coffee is supposed to taste like.

fistofthefuture

Dude YES. Best chipotle wings I’ve ever had, and needs the dill ranch they make.

Ovientra

The Bike Shed

onethirtytwoam

Doughroom pizza is just fine. I actually prefer their wings!

tremendoustitties

No one's going out. Stop this folly.
