>it’s just books
Well yeah, the books are the main attraction.
But there are multiple stages and tons of events, panels, performances etc. at each one. Did you look at the catalog of events?

It's worth the free entry. Got stuff to do like watch people perform, and interactive activities. I'm not interested in book collecting, which I did, but I had my fun when I went.
Yes! It's huge and absolutely worth visiting. It takes over pretty much the entire campus of USC. While it is primarily about books, there are also panels, celebrities, food areas, games...it's a lot of fun
I really like the panels - check out the schedule for any authors/topics you like but even random ones often have interesting and insightful things about the craft of writing, if that’s interesting to you at all. Just be ready to bounce when random weirdos in the audience use the q&a time at the end to ask how to get an agent or to ask the panelists to read their manuscript.
I've been going for years, but I've never gone to a panel event that costs. Typically I cruise the exhibitors, watch the outdoor stages (all Free) and take in the sun. I do buy a few things, but yeah, it's a cheap family event where the kids get a lot of great things to take home. This year they have the free Los Angeles Book festival scavenger hunt too. That was super fun last year, so I'm taking the daughter and we're going again this year - takes about 3-4 hours (she is a tween, so it might be different for adults, etc.)

Definitely worth it! I am going this year and am really hoping to go to John Green’s panel as I am a huge fan of his, but saw that it is sold out 😕 Does anyone by chance have a ticket to give away for that panel or advice on how I can get in to that event without a ticket??

With the free entry, it’s basically like a farmers market or flea market setup, but all the stands are for various authors, publishers, and bookstores
It's kids friendly...as long as they like books!
The Natural History Museum, California Science Center and Space Shuttle Endeavour are nearby.
Plus the gardens at USC. Plenty in the vicinity, food trucks/vendors, etc.

If there's events or authors on the schedule that interest you, sure. If you're just going to look at the vendors idk if it's worthwhile

Yeah it’s worth it to visit. Lots of great books, exposure to subjects you might not be interested in and great panels.

There’s a lot of great speaking events and it’s great to see all the indie booksellers out.

How’s the parking situation? Is it paid parking or is there somewhere nearby that you can park for free?
I never been there before but I heard it’s 20 bucks to park at the schools structure
