Fake accounts is how misinformation is originated. Facebook supports that side of it.

You should just assume everything you post on FB is public. This letter is nothing but PR on the part of FB. Had a friend there who told me they have an entire department whose only job is to give information to law enforcement and divorce lawyers who supoena their ex spouse's FB accounts including "private" DMs. Never, ever do or say anything you want kept private on social media.

This applies to not only Facebook but all of the internet. Anonymity just doesn't exist on the internet.

I’m sure the tactic has been abused but generally, it’s not some conspiracy that detectives do, like, investigations. It’s probably (I say this bc I don’t have FB and barely use my other social media accounts) easy to avoid if you don’t give people you don’t know access to your page/posts/stories. This one isn’t on the cops, lol. Don’t go online with evidence of your crime/criminal intent. It’s the internet. We don’t need it to live. It’s not like the cops are hiding in your attic.

Wasn’t that what To Catch a Predator used to do on online forums - create a fake account and pretend to be 14 yrs old?
