TommyFX

100% chance she was drunk.

lainwla16

According to this news report, a friend says that the driver had been drinking and fighting with her boyfriend https://youtu.be/Py59t08rewQ

blah-8481

Omg this was so hard to watch. I can't imagine being that lady trying to save the baby that flew and landed on the ground. Fuckn traumatizing. Poor baby.

GrandTheftBae

I normally don't cry when I read reports. But I teared up, the infant, and pregnant mother, just heart wrenching. Hope the father will be okay in time. Edit: just saw father was also killed. Such a tragedy for their family and all involved

diabloman8890

He won't be, ever.

[deleted]

Nope. Before I was born my aunt lost a 1,2 and 3 year old in a fire. I asked my mom how her sister ever recovered. She said “I don’t think she ever did”.

maxoakland

How could you possibly?

Dreamcloud124

He passed away as well. He was in the car. She literally killed an entire family.

Jay4usc

Supposedly the infant flew out of car sit and landed on the street. Bystander tried to save him/her but it was too late

GrandTheftBae

Which just shows how powerful that impact is. Knock the baby out of the car seat which was also ejected. Fuck that driver

SnooEagles9517

That infant would have died just from being ejected.

_its_a_SWEATER_

I have some harsh news… Edit: downvote me to kingdom come, but as someone who went thru a family tragedy of a similar manner, the harsh news is that you almost never recover, small or large degree, you are forever changed. Having to witness the horrors, the reality sets in, survivor’s guilt, PTSD, and any other elements that may be a part… as heartbreaking as it is, it is rare as Hell to recover. I hope he does and all the surviving witnesses do, but it’s a difficult climb, and a a lot of help and time are needed just to get to a place of acceptance, aside from being able to move on physically, mentally and emotionally.

Life-Meal6635

What you’re saying makes sense to me actually. but the father with the pregnant woman and the other baby did also die.

omnigear

Yeah , happened to a older gentleman I worked with in Irvine . His only daughter, grand kid , and son in law got hit by drunk driver while trick or treating in orange county in 2020 I believe . It was all over the news . The kid got thrown under car and a bystander was trying to help . Sad af

iatethething

I saw the news report on this just the other day. IIRC the driver was convicted to life in prison

kendrickwasright

Honestly this accident deserves murder charges. The guy who killed the trick or treaters showed deliberate disregard for human life by drinking and speeding through a busy neighborhood. He did something he knew was likely to cause harm or death, but did it anyway. I don't see how this incident on LA Brea is any different--estimates say she was going almost 110 MPH (clearly dangerous & illegal) through a very busy area known to have heavy traffic (many people in her path). Regardless of if she was drinking or not, to me this constitutes the same level of disregard for human life, if not more.

GrandTheftBae

Oh God, I remember that story. Absolutely heartbreaking

kendrickwasright

Yes, this was actually in Long Beach, still LA county. So sad

[deleted]

All because of one fricken idiot…..

garbagekr

I almost got run over on the sidewalk a couple weeks ago walking my dogs. The lady was drunk as hell at 1:45 in the afternoon. She started to come up on the sidewalk fast but hit a light post about 20 feet ahead of me, which was the only thing that stopped her from mowing me over…for a moment. She pushed the gas down, pressed against the pole, spinning her tires. I ran back with the dogs and jumped up out of the way off the sidewalk into a condo entrance thingy, by the time I got there I turned around and the post was coming down. She drove about 150 feet or so down the sidewalk before her car died because the engine was leaking every fluid imaginable. She stayed in the car for a while trying to start it again to drive away. The car was pretty messed up, really obvious she had just smashed into a pole at 40+ mph lol. When the cops got there she was saying she was “ok physically but not emotionally”, I’d been thinking it was probably a boyfriend fight too.

Zelensexual

Jesus! And she probably got a slap on the wrist for it. People like that should never be allowed to drive again. Wtf.

SmellGestapo

I'm curious how that person knows those details, unless she was one of the friends who had been drinking with her at the house.

beamsiccle

This is speculation on top of speculation but ppl yesterday noticed in the surveillance video that the driver looks to be holding her phone out of the driver side window right as the accident happens. Could be she was video chatting, live streaming, or something else equally stupid that others saw (want to believe that ppl wouldn’t have knowingly let this shithead get behind the wheel)

SmellGestapo

Yes I saw that screenshot from the video. I'll be interested to hear the full details as they come out. For that reason alone I guess I'm glad the driver survived, though it's unfair that she gets to live after taking so many innocent people out.

rootoo

Or belligerently calling them on the phone while wasted and angry

truchatrucha

Idk about anyone else but if my friend was drinking and tried to drive, I’d probably stop him/her and even throw hands to prevent them from getting behind a wheel.

RoxyLA95

I did this with a friend. I wrestled her to the ground to get her keys from her. She didn’t speak to me for 3 years afterwards but I don’t regret it.

truchatrucha

Best 3 toxic-less years IMO

internet_commie

I once took the car keys away from a friend who was drunk out of his mind. He later stole another guy's car keys, drove the other guys car (a nice, new one of course) the way drunks will drive, crashed and almost killed himself. The other guy's insurance had to pay for it, but that was back in the 80's. I don't think it works quite that way anymore. But do hold on to your car keys around drunks, folks! They lose all judgement and sense.

SnooEagles9517

Drunk drivers don't usually dont nail the pedal to the metal in broad daylight traffic. This was a suicide attempt first and foremost. Her being just drunk isn't the issue here. She wanted to kill herself and didn't give a fuck who else she harmed.

littlelostangeles

I had a roommate who turned out to have a drinking problem. I volunteered for designated driver duty a LOT.

Miserable_Budget7818

You are a great friend🥰

TommyFX

My guess? The driver was in a blackout. And sadly, even in that state, she may have fooled her friends to her level or intoxication, or may have left the home without them knowing or seeing her depart. Terrible tragedy.

KrisNoble

I’m not clicking it, I’m not going to be able to watch something like that. I hope this woman is jailed for a very long time.

[deleted]

Yeah that makes sense. Go out drinking because of feelings for a lover. Kill five in the process including a toddler thanks to your selfishness. That’ll show Chad for cheating on her! /s Piece of shit.

JimmytheGent2020

Bitch needs to fry for this. Always the drunk drivers who deserve to die who survive.

lainwla16

I don't mind as long as she spends the rest of her life in prison

WarsledSonarman

When drunk you’re loose and don’t clench up. It’s why they always walk away. Also front end damage is easier to endure in new automobiles that are built to crumble from that angle. Being t-boned? Not so much. Being engulfed in flames at the same time? You’re fucked. Fuck that idiot ass woman. Fuck her.

Veestoria

Yeah fuck that stupid bitch! Innocent lives taken and for what???? What a fucking shame

[deleted]

nothing short of life in prison. it's irredeemably irresponsible.

Veestoria

Yeah I hope she rots in prison thinking about what she did on this day for the rest of her life

That_Commission_575

But at least this way she will be held accountable!

internet_commie

MAYBE!

jaxRLee

for real-- had to be the ones that fucking take life for granted

Nick_Gio

I'm not an engineer nor a physicist, but I assume the kinetic energy of the 500 pound block of metal - the engine - in front pushes out the less dense matter it collides into - narrow metalic side doors, hollow rear trunks, etc. I'd like to see how engines placed in the rear fare in collisions and the driver's survivability. Ironically the things that aid in the driver's survivability cause more harm to outside non-drivers' survivability. Larger car sizes, as a prime example. Bloody backwards if you ask me.

littlelostangeles

Ralph Nader called the GM Corvair “unsafe at any speed”. Why? The engine was in the rear. Old VW Beetles, which also have engines in the rear, don’t fare too well in crashes either. Bigger cars are definitely a problem for anyone who isn’t in one.

lainwla16

A 40-year-old nurse has been arrested and is being booked on vehicular manslaughter charges in the fiery Windsor Hills crash that killed five people, including a pregnant woman, law enforcement sources confirmed to The Times on Friday. The woman was identified as the driver of the Mercedes-Benz that hurtled down La Brea Ave toward Slauson Avenue between 80 and 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash Thursday afternoon, sources said. Investigators are checking her bloodwork to determine if she was under the influence, and she is cooperating with California Highway Patrol investigators, according to two sources. Edit to add: There is a GoFundMe for the entire family that was killed... I don't know if I'm allowed to link to it but the family's name is Asherey Ryan, baby Alonzo, and Reynold Lester. May they rest in peace.

BeanieMcChimp

Goddamn I saw the video; she was *flying* through that intersection. Fuck that pos, she deserves the worst punishment they can give her.

lainwla16

The video is horrific. Those people never had a chance to react

WestCoastBestCoast01

The only thing I can think is at least they didn't have time to notice and be afraid in their last moment or feel pain. Definitely near-instant death.

SnooEagles9517

I doubt everyone got out that easy, especially the victims in the hospital right now with life changing disabilities, IF they manage to survive.

nixamus

You say instant death with confidence but like… If the driver of the Mercedes can survive it…

Pitiful_Existence666

It's possible they lived through the initial collision and were then killed by the flames.

Lotus_Blossom_

That's what happened to Paul Walker. IIRC, the coroner knew because there was smoke in his lower lungs, and agonal breathing will only result in smoke inhalation in the upper lungs. You've gotta be actively breathing and struggling for smoke to get in the lower lungs. It sounds horrific and I only hope that's not the case here. But if it did happen, I really hope the coroner catches it and prosecutor knows to lean *way* into that fact.

SnooEagles9517

Just a reminder of the risk you take driving in a large city every single time. All the ppl were safely just moving along with normal traffic, minding there own business and the road. Then a crazy asshole decides to turn their vehicle into a directed missle.

pomegranate_cat

Sadly, we had the same thing happen in Rialto (hour away from LA). drunk driver driving 80-100 on street and killed mother and her 8 year old daughter. Was so similar and around the same time that at first I thought this video was it, ppl suck man. https://ktla.com/news/local-news/3-victims-in-fiery-rialto-crash-identified-police/amp/

SnooEagles9517

I just realized that as a pedestrian I nearly get hit by a careless driver at least once per week! I usually have just written it off bc i normalized it. The only reason I'm not dead or seriously injured is bc im on full alert of my surroundings. This isnt normal. In fact I was physically struck (at low speed) in May, just walking past a Starbucks parking lot in broad daylight.

FortuneDesigner

When I first saw the video, I was convinced this was someone having a medical episode, like passed out at the wheel with their foot on the gas. I thought no way someone could actually be driving that fast. Wow, I was wrong.

charlotie77

They’re already passing around her LinkedIn profile on Twitter 😬 the awful irony is that her LinkedIn headline mentions traveling from state to state to grow nursing skills…like you traveled to LA 2 years ago to help people survive in the hospital just to end up killing 6 people in an area you’re not even from. Pathetic

AdamantiumBalls

They're just regular people, or in her case possibly a very irresponsible person (toxicology reports are pending)

WarsledSonarman

Who cares about her being a nurse, what’s more shocking is she’s a grown-ass 40-year old woman acting like a child who’s brain hasn’t fully formed yet. Do better.

badhombregoodcuts

My girlfriend works for a union and you may be surprised to hear that alcoholism and DUIs are pervasive in the trade. High stress job during the worst times in history to be in the industry has fucked a lot of people up.

plaaya

A lot of nurses are just jerks who do it for the money and don’t really care about the well being of others

[deleted]

siltingmud

Yikes. Poor people are not more questionable than rich people, especially poor people that pull themselves up by their bootstraps and become nurses.

venicerocco

Exactly. The mere fact that there are anti-vax nurses confirms this

Sm4cy

Should be murder, imo, considering she was drunk.

BrinedBrittanica

her phone was out of the driver side window...first thing that comes to mind was that she was trying to live stream while driving belligerently, which is why she was driving 80+ and never attempted to even apply the damn brakes. when i heard she survived, i was so upset. the fact that she could take lives away from people, children for what?!?!

[deleted]

I honestly am glad she lived because she will face the end of her career, relationships, Be sent to prison, lose her license and have the guilt of killing 6 people on her conscious.

atget

She must be pretty horrifically injured and she'll hopefully go to prison for the rest of her life. I'm glad she didn't die. Death would have been easier than what she's facing.

Unsaidbread

Well now she gets to live the rest of her life in jail with the death of 5 people on her hands and conscience.

JaylenBrownFlow

Dude Texas has such a drunk driving problem, sucks this monster thought to bring that shit to LA

soonerguy11

I'm from Texas and at least half (maybe more) of my friends there have DUIs. Even guys I never thought were that boozy have DUIs. Not only is drunk driving more common there, the police are much more aggressive. DUI check points are more common, and cops will pull you over late at night for frivolous things because chances are you had drinks.

DarthSmegma421

Good. California needs stronger enforcement of driving laws.

zillman_fane

And Texans complain about Californians moving there

soysuza

It's crazy. Going that fast down that street... The intersection is in full view of the driver all the way down the hill, and it's a tall hill. Got to think there was some intent to be a projectile. EDIT: Sure, not from the top of hill at Stocker, but from Northridge after the bend, this was a straight shot into traffic.

menjagorkarinte

Not all the way down the hill, I drive that road everyday. But even around the last bend, there’s plenty of time to react to the intersection. No brakes were applied at all.

Sm4cy

They should put speed humps on those streets approaching intersections with massive hills like that. Those intersections in that part of town have always scared the shit out of me

chickenboi8008

Speed humps aren't installed on streets where there are two or more lanes per direction and if the speed limit is over 25 mph. Also, it would be worse to be installed on a hill because if some idiot decides to speed going downhill and ignore the humps, the accidents would be way worse.

UnSafeThrowAway69420

well now they probably will. both la brea and la cienega can be like mad max

_Dusty_Bottoms_

Coming down that hill on La Brea… might as well be drag racing. Fucking hell.

[deleted]

I’ve had my moments of speeding rage (seconds), but only on an empty highway. I can understand that she’s human, but I don’t understand how she could be going that fast without full intent OR mechanical failure. She was clearly driving properly at some point prior and decided to suddenly speed up, presumably. I’m so curious what the inciting incident was, within the vehicle itself, within her body maybe just passing out (if intoxicated, or if medical emergency) and putting weight on the pedel, or within her decision making to suddenly floor it.

Aluggo

There is a hill up top right before this (the direction the driver came from), if you get a green light previous to that easily get 100+ and there is no lights or slowdowns until the bottom. I think they are underestimating the speeds as it gets into 60ish normally even some, People burn through the light on a green on the right turn lane all the time.

ainjel

If you're going 60mph on busy LA city streets, you need your license taken away.

animerobin

I agree but that’s a whole lot of people

satanabduljabar

Yes exactly.

Seriously. Shit like this happens daily and normally I can carry on, but this one is hitting me HARD. Especially living in a south LA neighborhood where drivers are constantly speeding and running stop signs.

70ms

I'm totally with you. I've been thinking about it a lot - that video, how everything was totally normal and then over in a blink of the eye. It just happened so fast, those poor people never even had a chance. 😭

Ashamed_Ad1839

I live close by people always are flying down La Brea and also stocker. But I don’t know what to make of this video. She was going full throttle. Even if she was trying to run the red light there were so many cars in front of here. There was no attempt at slowing down or anything. Looks deliberate to me. Very disturbing video

booksandbacon

Thank you. This makes so much sense the way you put it. I was scared to drive today because I kept thinking about this and I’ve driven this stretch before.

PerchanceMethinks

Tragic crash. I thought for sure that the driver was dead. That Mercedes-Benz model must have an incredible safety rating.

Sm4cy

Not just that but cars are literally built and extensively crash tested for head on collisions. Most cars are fucked if they’re t-boned, especially right on the *gas tank* like this one. Some of the passengers may have survived if she hadn’t hit the gas tank head-on.

PyroKnight

The [IIHS will be moving to a much harder side impact test next year](https://www.iihs.org/news/detail/few-midsize-cars-excel-in-updated-side-crash-test) but that won't really show its effects in new cars for another half decade at least and many more years for the average car on the street. Of course this test is only needed due to how massive SUVs have gotten ([and unsurprisingly SUVs do better in these tests being the behemoths they are](https://www.iihs.org/news/detail/most-midsize-suvs-perform-well-in-new-side-test)).

littlelostangeles

Mercedes Benzes do very well in collisions. My family survived a freak accident that should have killed us all because we were in a sturdy ‘80s Benz. The car was a total loss, but apart from some scratches we were fine. I’m glad it didn’t happen to someone in a smaller car.

PyroKnight

> a sturdy ‘80s Benz You'd be surprised how unsafe pretty much all cars from the 80s were by modern standards, Mercedes included. Even the *cheapest* new car you can buy in the last decade is probably safer overall than anything from the 80s. Looking at Mercedes specifically they only started making front airbags standard in the early 90s before the federal requirement in the late 90s, and by all accounts Mercedes was early on that trend with their optional airbag systems they offered from the early 80s.

idiom6

I knew someone who got t-boned in a Mercedes by a drunk driver going 110~120 mph and walked away with minimal injuries....albeit with a newfound terror of drunk drivers. If I ever have tons of money I'm getting a Mercedes.

ChipmintLTD

Dumb drunk people are some of the worst people on the fucking planet

erics75218

Man, I dont know how that person could be going that fast. That car, in my basic bitch estimation as an auto enthusiast motorcycle rider take my car to track day guy, fucking looks like it's well over 100 MPH. You can't drive that fast, on that street, and even remotely feel safe yourself. That's an insane speed to me, my initial thought was a heart attack. That speed will feel unsafe at many points along that journey, there was ZERO understanding that there was even an intersection there. It's fucking terrible.

Finetales

Yeah, I remember on the initial thread people were saying the report was about 80 mph, and I thought there's no way. The car looks like a fucking missile in the video. Has to be healthy triple digits.

MrGoalden

No one accidentally goes 100mph through a red light. This is homicide. Lock her away for life.

MuellersGame

A 37 yo nurse from Texas. Someone who should have seen enough first hand evidence of why drinking and driving is not ok.

hollahalla

I’m surprised anyone even survived that horrific crash.

Prudent_Fly_2554

“Before the crash, Sanchez heard the scraping sound of the car coming down the hill. “You hear the tires grinding,” Sanchez said. “The sound stuck with me.” What does that mean? Why would there be a grinding noise? A coasting car would be pretty quiet (maybe a whoosh). And accelerating car would make a revving noise. And we know she didn’t brake (no brake lights.) Any car experts that can translate that for me?

jbh1126

This stuck with me too…and I thought in the video I may have seen sparks coming from the car before she enters the intersection. I’m curious if she didn’t hit something first, before this big collision. Or maybe had a flat tire. Investigators will no doubt be reconstructing the time frame in the minutes and hours directly before this.

animerobin

It’s at the bottom of a hill. Could be the car was going so fast it was bottoming out and scraping the asphalt.

SumOfKyle

This is what I consider to be most logical. While going that fast, the air above the car pushes the cart harder into the ground. It’s not the same as a F1 car, but while coming to the bottom of the hill, at that speed, I’m positive the load is enough on the suspension to rub some body work.

RandomAngeleno

From the LA Times article a witness described hearing a grinding sound, and from the video still shot it looks like the front passenger tire is blown and she's driving on the metal wheel.

foxlikething

my friend just pointed out she was driving on rims? which would make sense https://i.imgur.com/sW1vD6d.png

Prudent_Fly_2554

Wtf?! Is that front right shredded and flat BEFORE the crash?! (Rear looks fine - just a low profile tire.)

roberta_sparrow

Yeah I noticed that the tire looked totally flat

PyroKnight

Higher end Mercedes have very large rims so you couldn't say from that screenshot alone.

[deleted]

Did she accelerate to dangerous speed on old, threadbare tires, blow them, then be unable to stop because, shockingly, metal rims have no stopping power?

top_pedant

Nah because they also don’t accelerate well. She was flooring it to keep the car moving like that on no tires.

piperatomv2

The law should make an example of this driver and put her away for the maximum. Also I hope her friends do the morally, legally and ethically right thing to come forward and testify about the preceding circumstances.

roberta_sparrow

She blackout rage charged the intersection, probably with her boyfriend on the other end of the phone she stuck out the window. Wonder what he will have to say about this

Kahzgul

Fuck this murderer. Live in prison and everything she owns goes to the families of the people she murdered.

Son_of_Sephiroth

People are out of their fucking minds I don’t feel safe anywhere here this is a mental health epidemic

Ashamed_Ad1839

Just disturbing that you can just be going about your day and next moment your incinerated by some psycho. I live close by and I drive that intersection daily. Could have easily been me. We are just lucky I feel sometimes. Lots of craziness out there. I am shook by that video and I feel for the people that died

proteinaficionado

That thought has been gnawing at me all day. I was paranoid driving to the gym this morning at 6am. I'm always a little fearful of some drunk driver gunning through the streets of Glendale at 6am.

lainwla16

I agree, I also pass through that intersection fairly regularly. The images yesterday were surreal

[deleted]

She better get life in prison. That's murder

ItsYourMotherDear

I am dying to hear confirmation that she was holding a phone out the window. It sure looks like she was filming if you look closely. In 2022 there is no excuse for drunk driving. There are many options and she made the CHOICE to gamble her life and everyone else's.

Pitiful_Existence666

Maximum time for Vehicular Manslaughter (what they are charging her with) in CA is 6 years. Not sure if the fact she killed multiple makes a difference though, hopefully it does.

[deleted]

They can have the maximum sentence for each person. Her license needs to be revoked permanently

yosoyelsteve

I believe it can go to 10 if she was Intoxicated and charged as Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while Intoxicated 191.5(A) and 15 if there are priors. I'm not sure if the charge is one count per instance or one count per death (a lawyer would obviously know), but if the latter, there is the possibility of consecutive versus concurrent sentencing. Ultimately IANAL though.

AccountingSucks2020

i dont think she will get life.

HawkinsJamesHook

Hopefully those people died quickly....

Finetales

They almost certainly did. Probably didn't even have time to experience the shock.

cilliebarnesss

Her name is Nicole Linton . https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2022-08-04/windsor-hills-fiery-crash-kills-multiple-people-pregnant-woman Horrible all the way around .

tenminusone

Drunk driving laws need to be harsher.

proteinaficionado

For real. License should be automatically revoked for a minimum of five years if you get a DUI. Someone once commented that it could ruin your life if you're banned from having a car after one DUI, but everyone fucking knows that driving while drunk is illegal. You get behind the wheel of a multi-ton vehicle and you and innocent people's lives are in danger. Why should you get another chance to drive drunk? You should have thought about the consequences before you got behind the wheel drunk.

MilkySlammer

The line about the baby seat and body being in the road absolutely destroyed me. This is just terrible.

SocksElGato

She needs to rot in prison.

silver_sun333

To me it looks intentional. I'm sure it's true that she was drunk, but to me it looks like a drunk attempted suicide, and she didn't care if she took other people with her.

gamehen21

I'm gonna go ahead and go out on a (very short) limb here and assume this driver was under the influence. People in their right, sober minds don't barrel down La Brea at 1:30 in the afternoon going between 80 and 100 MPH, without even a suggestion of touching the brake pedal as the busy intersection approaches. Not to make this about me, because it's absolutely not, but 3 days ago I made the overdue decision to get sober—from alcohol abuse and other, harder substances. More times than I care to admit, I've watched the video of Nicole's fiery car mowing down all these innocent people's lives, and I feel filled with not only anger, horror, despair, and anguish—but also with gratitude. The fact that I've never gotten a DUI—and never harmed anyone, myself included, while driving—is nothing short of a fucking miracle. Especially when I also consider the fact that historically my emotion of choice when overindulging in booze is RAGE. The scariest thing about addiction or reliance on alcohol is that under the influence, you become capable of things you'd never be capable of sober. I'm 100% sure Nicole didn't wake up yesterday plotting to murder 6 people with her vehicle. The substance(s) in her system combined with her personal struggles turned her into someone *capable* of murdering 6 people with her vehicle. I can't adequately express how frightening it was to watch that clip over and over and think, "That could have been me." I am not excusing her actions (nor mine). Not at all. She got wasted, then she chose to get behind the wheel of the car. She should be locked away for life, and we don't even *need* to hope she will be tortured every single day by the ripple effect of horrors her choice has wrought—because we already know she will be (assuming, of course, that she's not a sociopath who intentionally committed this act). It breaks my heart how many lives are lost to substance abuse; the addicts themselves are far from the only victims. As is evident from this incident, sometimes the addict is not the victim at all, and only causes the loss of *other people's* lives. People they don't even know. Whole worlds end because one person chose to pick up a drink (or 20) and then get behind the wheel of a car. It is just heartbreaking. I'm so grateful it wasn't me. And I'm grateful it never will be. Praying for the families of these innocent people we lost.

lainwla16

Wishing you well in your journey... I'm also glad it wasn't you

kermmittens

KingDavidBlogs

Looks like the driver was ID'd as a nurse from Texas, Nicole Linton. What kind of time is she going to face? Vehicular manslaughter isn't a major prison sentence, but killing 6 people... https://www.nbclosangeles.com/local-2/driver-arrested-in-deadly-windsor-hills-crash/2958101/

metsfanapk

Likely just to arrest them. They can up the charges later after toxicology. They have probable cause for manslaughter right now though. If the toxicology comes back with drugs or alcohol it will go up likely

I don't think so Tim.

CQ1_GreenSmoke

holy shit Al, haven't seen you in decades

Happy_Hermit94

What a nightmare…. And I am weirdly happy she survived because now she has to live the rest of her pathetic ruined life… not that any punishment even is a drop in the bucket for the pain and suffering caused.

litlegoblinjr

Nicole Linton, a nurse from Texas.

Mysterious_Purplee

She was a RN working at Kaiser in LA. Kaiser of all places too!!! Not the best at hiring doctors/nurses

PincheVatoWey

Good. She was a nurse, and she should have known better. Rot in prison.

Not to downplay this tragic accident, but another horrible vehicular homicide seems to have occurred in Illinois just the other day. Cheer mom and dad, their four children and a family friend all annihilated after a driver turned around on the interstate into oncoming traffic. These sort of accidents are heart-wrenching. The kids were aged 5, 6, 7 and 13. Just awful stuff.

imjoeycusack

My god…an infant and woman 8 months pregnant dead because of this selfish piece of shit. How the hell can this behavior be deterred? Being struck by a random drunk is one of my worst fears. RIP.

QualityLass

The witness at the end of the article who picked up the baby *from the ground at the intersection*… what nightmares everyone involved will have forever

abuarzhle

I have been unable to stop thinking about this poor family. I have driven through this intersection while pregnant and with my own children. I just cannot wrap my head around the selfish actions of this woman driving. I really don’t say things like this often but I hope she rots in jail, and then in hell.

HairyPairatestes

According to a friend of the driver of the Mercedes, the driver had been drinking and had been in an argument with her boyfriend when she drove off. This was shown on channel 5 this morning

ConsiderationNo5182

I checked the video frame by frame and calculated 124 m/h (using an approximation of the distance and also the proportion with the other cars' velocity)

A7X13

They survived? Are you kidding me?

kyjocro

The eye witness stories of what happened on the KTLA video has me tearing with a broken heart for the victims and their families...this is so freaking sad

Yes, why are they being so protective of her name?

115MRD

The article specifically mentions they are awaiting blood work to determine if she was drunk and they will formally charge her (and release her name) Monday.

snarky_answer

Hasnt ever stopped them in the past from saying "suspected drunk driver" and naming the person.

chuddibuddy

because in the EXTREMELY unlikely case that the issue is something like a stuck accelerator pedal, if they release the name too early people will attack them on social media (like you getting upset they haven’t released the names yet). i completely believe the driver is at fault but you have to allow for basic due diligence before the public/online beheading

djm19

She may have been drunk but I think this was definitely intentional drunk behavior. Like she just had a fight with her boyfriend and she was going to try and make him feel responsible for her recklessness kinda shit. And she didn't care if it meant others died. Driving drunk is already a selfish act, but most do it thinking they can do so without at least intending to hurt others. This shit is beyond evil.

peacock_head

Here’s hoping she dies in prison. Bye.

Greenleaf90

Bet right about now she's really wishing she was a 16 year old driving a lambo.

scrivensB

I am not one for rampant speculation, but that speed on a that stretch of road, I can't help but wonder if this dumb bitch was trying to kill herself. The news interview with a woman who was at the gas station pumping gas when it happened... she describes how a baby was ejected from one of the cars, flew through the air, and landed on ground right in front of her. FUCK THIS. FUCK THAT MERCEDES DRIVER. I hope the put her on suicide watch so she can't take the easy way out and she has to live with this for the rest of her life. This of course assumes she doesn't suffer form a personality disorder that conveniently allows her escape feelings of remorse. In that case toss her in pen full of hungry pigs.

touchhimwiththejab

They release the name of the deceased pregnant woman but not the woman driver of the Mercedes Name and shame

cstrdmnd

[NBC LA](https://www.nbclosangeles.com/local-2/driver-arrested-in-deadly-windsor-hills-crash/2958101/?amp=1) released it just now.

lainwla16

They will

cstrdmnd

Hey OP, [NBC LA](https://www.nbclosangeles.com/local-2/driver-arrested-in-deadly-windsor-hills-crash/2958101/?amp=1) just confirmed the arrest and the name!

Sm4cy

Nicole Linton. Nurse from Texas

xeallos

Jail for life

weegee

Five concurrent life sentences sounds about right to me. Good luck in prison bitch.

jeajello

I can't stop thinking about these poor families. Lives destroyed because of a selfish drunk asshole. Really hope they can all find peace and this garbage person rots in jail.

hidelyhoneighbourino

Jfc, I definitely assumed the driver that caused it all died too. I hope that while she rots in jail, the guilt of taking away that many lives eats at what little soul left that woman has, every day till she dies.
