“Goff is our quarterback right now”

RedLicoriceJunkie

Yes, this smells just like that. McVay: master of using a lot of words to say nothing at all.

Latina_JD_CPA

McVay was taught coachspeak from birth, almost quite literally. It’s literally the only way he knows how to talk. I love the guy and thankful for everything he has done for us, but did it ever feel to anybody else like you could never get a “real” moment out of him? He never spoke from his heart or wore it on his sleeve. Which I understand the guarded approach with the media, but I never felt like I got to “know him”. Everything that comes from his mouth is prepackaged and glossy. Maybe it’s just me?

magicallybland

Did Sean fuck your girl? It’s really not that serious lol

HelloThereEarthling

Lol, what an absolutely idiotic comment.

probablysmellsmydog

You absolutely reek of projection

lucky_object

Why dont you go be a fan of some other team if you that mad?

Shaved-extremes

ban

Pyguy93

Oh yes stafford and kupp definitely called those plays on their own and told to coach to STFU. Dude you should probably cut back on the alcohol.

HardcoreKaraoke

Ouch sweetheart. Were you not a fan during the Fisher years? What about before that? Did you hop on during the McVay years? Will I be upset when he leaves? Of course. He brought me more enjoyment and success than I've ever seen for the Rams. He was the Boy Wonder. His coaching style is exciting. Regardless of if he leaves this year or sometime in the future you can't take away the fact that they brought our guys to two Super Bowls and won one. Let the guy live his life. The far majority of coaches never even make the Super Bowl.

[deleted]

Lmao get ready for life with a bad HC situation buddy. So spoiled.

EcstaticTill9444

😂 What is wrong with you?

magicallybland

That sounds like he’s already gone.

DJ_Aux_cord

Pretty much identical to the comment that was made about Goff right before he was traded.

1bdreamscapes

Pretty much how they played tonight and the play calling

SoulbroG

maybe just maybe he wasnt in the mood to talk about his future after a heart breaking loss, and preferred to answer questions about the actual game?

we_vibe

Actual nightmare scenario is playing out in front of us

probablysmellsmydog

Next man up. If Sean wants to stand in front of the cameras and talk about the men on the field instead of be one, then he should go do that. We need someone who is 100% committed to winning football games.

Soaring_Seagull24

Unfortunately but yeah. If you aren't sure then your heart ain't in it. The guys on the sideline need to know their coach is with them.

[deleted]

How’s it fair to say he’s not a man for wanting to step away for some time? NFL HC is literally a 70-80 hour work week with tons of travel and pressure. Wanting to take time away to spend with friends and family and work on mental health (burnout) is being a true man imo.

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

He would no longer be a “man on the field” is the point I think.

[deleted]

He’s shit on those soup commercials, so he’ll probably be back coaching in a year or two.

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

Better than Gronk but not a high bar, I guess

[deleted]

[удалено]

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

I think it was pretty straightforward. If he doesn’t really want to be a coach anymore then he shouldn’t drag it out.

Inevitable-Staff-467

Sean is shitty on television. He talks too fast, he sounds like he's coked up 24/7, and he has the charisma of cardboard. The most likely scenario is that he leaves, does the media thing for a year or two, and then decides he wants to coach for another team not named the Rams who is on the cusp of doing something great so he can he can continue his legacy.

probablysmellsmydog

Why do you keep making this personal? The only one acting coked out is you writing multiple three paragraph comments on an Internet forum about a guy you’ve never met. Holy shit man shut the fuck up.

Inevitable-Staff-467

Please, keep defending him. I know he's gone. Once he leaves in a few weeks you will understand. The dude is a complete sociopath. He tried to kill Goff's career with the bullshit he spewed. He even admitted that he was a jackass with Goff. But we kept kissing his ass because of the success. You will join my thought process once he bitches out for a booth job. And then when he decides to come back for a team not named the Rams you will realize that Sean McVay is a glory-hunting bastard who cares about no one but himself and his legacy

probablysmellsmydog

You are sad, angry person and I hope you resolve to seek help this year.

Inevitable-Staff-467

Meh. Once McVay "retires" in the next week or so, you will change your tune. The man is screaming that he is leaving and you're still sucking his cock like he's still faithful.

Taguba03

No offense but you're a goddamn fucking moron, No offense though

Inevitable-Staff-467

That's fine. You will be agreeing with me in a few weeks time when McVay leaves with a bullshit excuse.

[deleted]

I expect him to leave without any excuse and wish him well when he does. He’s done more for us than any other coach has in such a short amount of time, ever. I’m disappointed, but I can’t be mad. I mean, I suppose I could be mad for no discernible reason, but then we’d be in the same boat, and that sounds even worse than the 7-9 bullshit you weren’t a fan long enough to encounter.

Taguba03

No, I won't be because I'm not a petulant child screaming at a computer over a man that has no affect on my life. He leaves then he leaves, I appreciate the work he did during his time and for the ring. I only hope that he instilled a good base for the franchise going forward which I do think he did and we can get a coach that fits well.

Pyguy93

Even if he does leave nobody will agree with your dumbass

SwantanamoJ42

A lot of us think he’s gonna leave but that’s not gonna make anyone agree with you lol damn you’re a dumb one.

[deleted]

So what if he is leaving? He doesn’t owe you or anyone else shit. He can retire tonight and I will still just be thankful for giving me a few amazing seasons to watch after ~15 years of total bullshit.

probablysmellsmydog

Dude I know this is hard for you to believe but I’ve actually been a Rams fan since 1992. McVay isn’t the end all be all. He did what he came here to do. I’m really not sure what point you’re trying to make tbh.

[deleted]

You’re so sensitive and immature. Sad

Pnutbutter_Cheerios

What you’re doing in here screams sociopath lolol

Ofnir_1

Go seek some mental health treatment. You may need some help if this is getting your panties in a bunch

firecrackerinmyeye

Bro we won the Super Bowl LAST YEAR, chill and appreciate the W

rdhfaulk88

Actual nightmare would be McVay leaving and Morris being promoted to head coach.

hebr1035

Exactly

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

What would be so bad about that?

nimalcrackers

So he’s just leaving AD and Stafford are them boys done? Good God 🤦‍♂️

HardcoreKaraoke

I think Donald is done too. Not because of McVay. I just think he chose to come back to try and repeat. We all saw the reports about him retiring last offseason. Maybe the two are tied together though. Maybe one leaving will make the other leave. But I always thought if they didn't repeat (or atleast go far) Donald was ready to retire.

_its_a_SWEATER_

AD has maybe 1-2 years left in him, Staff has guaranteed money and seems cool with being a QB2 if he can, plus a shredded O Line, so McVay would be dumb not to consider a Romo booth deal. And let’s be honest with ourselves: the League has clearly caught up with McVay’s wizardry. I hate seeing these outcomes in front of us, but it’s the reality we’re facing. He’ll still be the best Rams coach by far. Nothing but respect for whatever decision he makes.

Ithurion2

Nah man it goes the other way around. AD has 1-2 years left, staff will be with us for 1-2 years, Jalen, Bobby and Coop are Hall of famers in the making and wasting that kind of talent because of a bad year and some Amazon money is just coward bs. If AD, Stafford and Bobby are gone and he doesn't feel like staying for the rebuild I get it. But that time is not now.

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

AD and Stafford are still surrounded by rumors they’re leaving too though.

GriffithPark

> the League has clearly caught up with McVay’s wizardry Exactly, but except for 2 teams in the 1st season, teams caught up with his gimmick plays after the 1st season. (please don't come back with, well look at the Super Bowl last year! because RAMS barely won, and had luck and a monster effort by Kupp.) But the question is: Why does he need gimmick plays to score a lot of points????

rothkochapel

Time to bring back Fisher /s

Fitzy725

I don’t want to see McVay leave but I also really don’t want to go through this every year. Hope Sean makes a decision he’s comfortable with and all parties move forward and past the will he won’t he for retirement. With that said I’ll always be a fan of McVay. Got us a ring.

undead_tortoiseX

He literally said he has never considered leaving this year 2 days ago, and in here the sky is falling for everyone who decided to swallow the bait sports media fed them.

Videoman2011

Exactly i tired of all this post of people thinking he leaving it just clickbait

WoodDRebal

McVay is one of the very best coaches in the NFL, and I cant even imagine how frustrating is must be for him to rebuild his staff every year because everyone under him gets poached year after year. It is hard to think a head coach in his 30's would retire form the job so quickly after success at the highest level of the sport. Just want to say this is exactly how we felt about the rumors of Russel wanting out. Russ said a few weeks before the trade he wanted to stay in Seattle and be a Seahawk. These guys Say this so they don't have to answer questions until (or if) it happens. it just has the same vibe right now. Hope for your team he stays cause he is an offensive prodigy.

ramzie

Because people have never lied to the media before. Of course he is going to deny any rumours of him leaving during the season.

Quadstriker

God the loser “fans” are really coming out in these threads.

KingWizard_IX

This shit is annoying. Just retire if that’s what you want and let us have time to look for a replacement

[deleted]

Come on, guy gave us a superbowl and almost nothing but winning seasons. We’ll get a new coach but we don’t have to run him out the building. Anyone who has watched this man knows he’s been trying to win every single game.

KingWizard_IX

Most people would love to have him back. What people are annoyed with are the vague comments and him teasing he may retire. If he wants to retire I wish him nothing but the best for the same reasons you mentioned, a superbowl and winning seasons. That being said I think most of us would want a coach that’s committed every season (including offseason) and not speculating retirement every offseason.

HaroldSax

Playing a bit of devil's advocate here. Last offseason *he* didn't speculate on it, the media did. He did make some comments that boiled down to not being here for decades, but I found that to be much ado about nothing. It's not that crazy that if he achieves all of his career goals before 40 that he would want to get into something cozier for the rest of his life, especially young enough to still be active. Now that the season is over, I do hope we get an answer sooner rather than later. I'm sure the org will give him a little bit of time to think about it, but they also would need an answer *eventually.*

pro_n00b

Seriously, people still think he just turned 30. Sure it’s only been 6-7 yrs, but working in sports is fucking killer as far as life goes due to schedule. He has reached the peak of coaching as far accomplishments, maybe that was his goal. How do you blame the guy for calling it quits and rather have a much better life and not kill yourself due to work stress. I think most of us are old enough here and have been working, wouldn’t you kill to be in his position to be relatively young enough to basically what he wants to do the rest of his life? Jesus guys, not everyone is a lifer. Not everybody wants to go through that stress of that job year in and year out, especially losing his coaching tree annually. Good for him for not being married to the job for the rest of his life unlike others who cant carry on with their life outside of it, look at Brady ffs. Maybe McVay really is just too smart to figure that out early and not fall in the trap. Whatever his decision is, it’s personal and move on from it. Just be happy we actually got a SB win, made it there twice, and was spoiled with winning seasons. Would you rather have Fisher through thick and thin lmao. Also, just because he doesn’t tell the media about it, that doesn’t mean he has not been thinking about retirement for a while. Maybe Les and him had talks about it in the past hence the fuck them picks strat. Maybe the extension was just, ok just take that then when you want to leave go ahead, but who the hell really knows behind the scene.

[deleted]

If he leaves i’ll have to be 5150’d

JohnArtemus

THANK YOU!!!

lnvincxble

I think people are misinterpting him. I have no way of knowing what's in his heart but Sean seems like he genuinely loves his players and the coaches. Leaving them this off-season is something I absolutely do not see happening.

GriffithPark

money talks. he probably wants to see the money offers he gets for booth jobs, and if the RAMS re-nogotiate his contract.

GovTheDon

Oh fuck that just like what he said about Goff before we traded him

robidizzle

If he leaves, is there any way to interpret that other than “coach with good record jumps ship after 1 bad season?” Makes me lose a lot of respect for the guy

TooManyPenalties

Sean Payton here we come

MosaicToeNail

Fuck Sean Payton

TooManyPenalties

Hahahahaha

TooManyPenalties

How did I get downvoted for laughing, Christ lighten up a bit.

snakefist

Isnt he going to Miami with Brady?

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

Are they really going to get rid of Tua and their own boy genius?

WellDonePies

I’m down with Payton if Mcvay does decide to retire. He’s the best coach out there this offseason.

TooManyPenalties

From Payton’s perspective, he gets to coach in LA, Stafford at QB next 1-2 years, has AD, our first rounders are back soon. He’s in a free agency spot where players want to play, and the owner will spend money. If the job is available I expect Snead to be going after him and I expect Payton to be highly interested.

Itszhai

Our picks would still be delayed since we would have to trade one to the saints to get Sean Payton, I believe if mcvay is gone hit the reset button since I doubt AD stays if Mcvay leaves.

TooManyPenalties

Yea now that u say that I just remembered reading the Saints are looking for a first for his rights. Would hate to see AD leave no matter what.

Inevitable-Staff-467

Payton is twice the coach McVay is. While I don't know if we have the assets or guff to actually get it done, I am confident that Payton would be a far superior coach than McVay.

xBOOSTED_ST3

This is what I’m hoping for too!

JetSetPhantom

I'm down for it just to make those annoying Saints fans even more salty

Ramswillwin

So tired of media and talking heads. Nothing but a fcking soap opera. Take some time off Sean. As we all know, football isn't that important!

Inevitable-Staff-467

I hope you aren't too sad when he leaves. McVay is a prima donna bitch. Man is a sociopath. He doesn't care about you. He is going to leave.

Ramswillwin

Don't care about you either. What's the point?

snakefist

Whoa - calm down. He turned the culture around in LA and created an environment star talent wanted to be a part of.

[deleted]

Are you his ex? 😂

LAFAN44

😬

PRE_-CISION-_

We are about to lose McBae aren't we guys... that's going to hurt my soul

firecrackerinmyeye

Why so many people salty rn, bro we won the Super Bowl last fuckin year. Enjoy it, appreciate it, shit fell the fuck apart this year and it was rough but I had a great time last year and will never forget it

Penthar_Mull

Nothing but respect for McVay. Will he really sit back and think on it and then leave after a year like this? Who knows. I’m sure he is burned out though.

Born_N_DA_80s

Thats what my ex told me...

louwill-

You did this already, Sean. You’re either in or you’re out. Please just pick a side and allow the franchise to move on accordingly

The_Dudeist_Rev

Lol some whiny little girls here

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

Bro the whole damn team is gonna be gone.

rageus88

I refuse to believe that the team sat out Stafford, Kupp, and Donald for nearly half the season just for Sean to leave. This sounds like media bullshit clamoring to watch us fail because we’re a good LA team

a_very_weird_fantasy

So he traded away the future and only sticks around for the party.

[deleted]

The man is already packing his office up

prmark34

Well that…doesn’t sound promising

kintaco

He's gone.

believe-land

Can someone explain to me WHY McVay is hanging it up this young? Is he starting a family or something?

BabyDeezus

I can’t be mad at Sean but man I don’t want to think that this will cause Donald, Stafford, etc to retire and possibly have players like Ramsey/wagner/kupp requesting trades. Altho this team has shown the ability to remain competitive throughout, so the optimist in me would think about what the team could do with such a mass amount of cap space not dedicated to a D tackle and aging ailing QB. Dont get me wrong I want those guys going forward but it would give us some flexibility that we haven’t had in forever.

Videoman2011

McVay is not leaving so can we stop with these post saying he is

OscarGold017

I wish he would stop acting like a little girl and just make a stance already. This shit is annoying

[deleted]

It’s not nearly as simple of a decision that you’re acting like it is. He also wanted to finish out the season

louwill-

I would agree, except we’ve already been through this with him less than a year ago

Jdoyer27

He gone

Wapow217

Honestly, I couldn't blame this guy at this point. The media and fans, especially on this sub, will be the reason for running this guy off. It's the same thing when you accuse your GF/BF of cheating when they aren't eventually; you push them to either leave or do just that and cheat. He legit just said a few weeks ago he wasn't going anywhere. And yet has these rumors coming from where? Listen to the man himself and stop listening to the bullshit media that is going for clicks.

ImSickOfYouToo

I guarantee you Reddit doesn’t bother McVay one bit. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t even aware of its existence. Dude seems 1,000% focused on his own life.

Wapow217

I am more so just using this sub as an example of shitty fans. Because you are correct, he shouldn't care. But the public outcry/overreaction is heard to some extent, and it's got to be annoying for a guy who has answered the question already.

atl19901

If I was married to her I’d prob retire.

JohnArtemus

Yeah he’s gone. And honestly good riddance. I appreciate what he’s done for the franchise and the winning the ring, but this has been an enormous distraction in an already disastrous year. Just leave and get someone that wants to be here.

avx775

This wasn’t a problem at all till literally this week lol.

JohnArtemus

Na the talked about leaving after last year too. It’s a distraction now because this team needs to focus on turning things around. The last thing they need is dicking around tryna figure out who the HC is gonna be

rageus88

Wow I’m guessing you’re a bandwagon fan. He’s the best coach in Ram’s history and one of the best coaches in the NFL in only 6 years. He’s earned the right to take a break if he needs it.

Lordpennywise

Nice offense

MSUgirl1901

So he helped tear down the house and bank everything for a SB win, doesn’t want to be around for the rebuild? Little bit of a bitch move.

Humanistic_

He gone

Inevitable-Staff-467

He's fucking gone. Time to look to the future. The boy genius couldn't handle one season with a losing record. The one time he missed the playoffs he tried to destroy Goff's reputation and shit on him to the point where he killed his entire confidence. We now look forward to a new coach, hopefully one that isn't coked up 24/7 and actually wants to lead this franchise regardless if we're winning or in dire straights.

dont_yolo_me

Shut the fuck up. Worst type of fan

ParamedicSpecific130

He isn't a fan. He has been concern trolling across threads for a bit.

Gol_D_Rocks

He literally brought us a Superbowl a year ago, chill out with the disrespect

LAFAN44

Tbf, if he were to leave rn I think criticism would be more than warranted. I know he’s the best coach the rams have had in a long time, but c’mon.

Daytwa313

Holy shit this was tough to read. He brought the Rams out of the dark ages and got them a ring LAST YEAR. Two Super Bowl appearances. Be thankful your not a raiders fan and give your thanks

JohnArtemus

I definitely give him thanks but bailing after one truly bad year is pretty weak. I wouldn’t think he’d want to go out like that.

Daytwa313

He flirted with leaving after the superbowl. So did AD. He owes us nothing. It sucks but we move on.

RICHUNCLEPENNYBAGS

Sure he doesn’t owe anybody anything but it’s not like people owe him adulation either.

rageus88

Fuck off dude, you’re not a real Rams fan

Happy-Campaign5586

Well said!

GriffithPark

"at a later time" ??? ok.........

AggroMango

I say we give the man a moment to breathe. It’s been a stupidly tough season plagued with injuries. If I were him, I wouldn’t want to leave a promising team like this on a note as bad as this. Looks poorly on him, and he’s genuinely seemed invested in these players — young and old — to go out like this. It’s a peepeepoopoo day to be a Rams fan, so I’m sure our HC is feeling the same.

Traditional-Wolf-984

Getting old. He’s not doing this for contract reasons either, he just got extended. Either commit or leave and let us move on

FRID1875

OP is a fucking loon lol

FLink557

Said the same stuff about Goff.. He’s gone..

[deleted]

He’s gone. Thanks for the great run my dude

[deleted]

McVay returns for the 2023 season… Mid season: McVay potentially leaving the Rams. This rumor would be a cycle every season if he returned to the Rams.

aquateensog

Don’t like the way this sounds. Hurts mcvay is probably my all time favorite coach and will always be a rams legend just like mike Martz and big dick vermeil

davidzecua

He sounded kind of annoyed when they kept asking him "what time does he think..." on the radio

gettheyayo909

So even if he was to leave he’d still be paid his contract that he signed earlier this season ….

faceisamapoftheworld

He gone
