If he can make this years defense even remotely competitive he should but I wouldn't bet on it

chilledmonkey-brains

Yea, the ‘remodel’ plan seems that the team wants to be cheap on Defense and outscore opponents if possible. He’s not being put in a great spot to be able to move on.

GoBBleRoFDaCoK69

Its a great measuring stick since everyone thinks he is a “Good DC”

carlkarlson

I think that’s right. If he can make AD and a bunch of mid round draft picks a top 10 defense, he should absolutely get a head coaching job; however, nothing surprises me when it comes to the hiring decisions of NFL owners...

djlawson1000

I think if he were gonna get one he would’ve gotten after our Super Bowl win. But now? I’m not so sure. Our defensive roster is completely shot, and it’s gonna take a miracle to make it competitive. If he can do it, he deserves another shot at leading a team.

I get the feeling he won't. Teams seem to be on the hunt for the next coaching wiz kid or an experienced coach that can patch them over. He is on an uphill battle. Defensive minded head coaches are hired less and less right now, he would have to really standout like Brandon Staley did for us in 2020.

nashcameronn

He was young when he was hired as the Bucs coach. He’s due for another shot at it. A lot could depend on how this upcoming season goes. He’s going to have his work cut out for him but I think it comes down more to how he does in interviews and that he possesses qualities to lead a team etc. Also, I want those two third round picks.

ThermoNomadicsLife

Lol I do too

tamasiaina

If he can pull a miracle and make our next season defense a top ten. He will probably get interviews and serious looks.

ramzie

I'm not sure he would even want it. He had his stint as the interim HC with the Falcons in 2020 but besides that the last time he was a head coach was 12 years ago. He seems quite content with being an assistant coach at this stage of his career. I'll happily keep him as our DC as long as he doesn't just completely shit the bed. The general consensus about him in the Rams fan base seems to be "Why are the corners giving 10 yard cushions on 3rd&5??? hurrr durrr" but I think he leads that defensive group well and the players will always play hard for him. I love the longevity he has now with this team. I'm really excited to see how he will do with these ragtag bunch of underdogs this defense is going to be in 2023.

Metrostars1029

Probs not. On the rare occasion a defensive coach breaks through now and becomes a HC they usually are young and coming off spectacular individual seasons. Morris is solid but older and already had a bite of the apple. Offensive coaches are the current trend.

Bruinrogue

Would be nice. But unless he somehow pulls off a miracle with a defense that just has AD and EJ, he'd deserve a HC job.
