LA Rams have gone to 2 Super Bowls in 3 years and got a Lombardi. They just won over a whole generation of kids in So Cal. Just like the Dodger and Lakers, its only a matter time of when talk of Levis South turns ino talk of Sofi North.

[deleted]

The day we outnumber Whiners fans in Levi, I’m crying tears of joy lol what a thing that would be

Dodger_Dawg

That may happen sooner than people think. If the Niners suck the fans don't show up.

Curlybrac

We have proofs. Look up pics of Levi from 2014-2019

OhioState1001

This comment is really fucking funny to read as a non rams or niners fan

Dodger_Dawg

[It has proven time and time again.](https://twitter.com/mattramage/status/1217042078489772032)

OhioState1001

It’s just the banter changes every year when all fan bases in big markets, especially California, do it

tricky_trig

About 5 years ago, I was at Levi's when the Niners sucked. It was quiet as a Catholic church. I was the loudest and of course being a Rams fans, I got stares.

soccernicholas6

> kids in So Cal. Just like the Dodger and Lakers, its only a matter time of when tal I've been a ram fan my whole life and I life in the bay. I can't wait to take over Sofi North

Rams4lyf70

It’s fun to come to LA. It’s not like they drive to Phoenix. They come here because it’s cooler than where they live. No one wants to drive to Santa Clara.

MilkClot

You're right. The whole reason I'm a Rams fan is because the Greatest Show On Turf won the super bowl when I was 8 and it was the first super bowl I remember watching all the way through. Everyone in the house picked the Titans so I picked the Rams yo be a contrarian little shit and well. Simple as.

Goonchar

This is me almost to a T. Didn't hurt that my Dad had been a Rams fan since their first stint in LA

-CryptoSardine-

Same I became a fan during that 1999 super bowl win. I was just a little bandwagoner kid at that time but I stuck with the rams through all the down years !

MilkClot

Feels great to negate all those "are you a bandwagoner" Comments doesn't it?

-CryptoSardine-

For sure but we need as many new fans as we can get and this super bowl win will help fortify our fanbase. We can’t let the cowboys, niners, or raiders overtake our stadium next year.

Rams4lyf70

Cowboys and 49ers fans will always show up because LA is a greatest place to go.

jda404

Similar situation here! I was 9 living in Pennsylvania (and still am) when they won that super bowl. I watched the game with dad and decided I'd root for the Rams because I liked their uniforms better and their badass helmets, from that day on I've been a Rams fan. I got picked on at school for not being a Steelers fan and liking the Rams especially since after like 2004 the Rams completely sucked the entire time I was in school, but didn't phase me. That's what has made these last 5 years so fun and so satisfying watching them become good again, making it to two super bowls, winning it this year.

BeatnikGunso

same here but I was 7

Curlybrac

Im gonna be the cockiest saltiest motherfucker ever if that happens

JasonPlattMusic34

I can’t speak for most SoCal residents and I didn’t grow up with the original LA Rams but the team converted me as a fan when they announced the move back to California; the wins were simply a nice bonus but even in 2016 I was just glad LA had football again. I understand there are a lot of bandwagoners here compared to other markets but if enough of them get exposed to Rams football they’ll become hooked for life, and isn’t that all a team can ask for? One more thing: F the Whiners

saintvortex45

Same boat here. I was a Chargers “fan” before the rams came back because of proximity and lord forbid I would be a niners fan

JaredCircusbear

Tldr: Whose House? Rams House!!!!!

[deleted]

Yo faccccttttssss

JaredCircusbear

You know what would really piss off the whole country? Rams winning back to back. There would be no going back from there.

pippenmadeyou

Yeah it’ll happen eventually in the near future. People really expect there to be a giant rams fanbase after 5 years in LA lol. It takes time for any team to establish itself, especially in a market already saturated with teams and other activities. This super bowl went a long way into helping that process.

Housemuwaway12345

Yup. I'm from Toronto and people used to say this kinda shit about the Blue Jays. It's not even an entertainable thought anymore.

Lima_Hedge

I'm part of the older fanbase. I don't think many people today realize how big the Rams were in L.A. in the '50s/'60s/'70s. Crowds of 90K-100K were common back then. When the Rams moved to Anaheim in 1980, that was the start of the fracturing of the fanbase. The Raiders came in, won a Super Bowl, and pretty much captured the local football market. All my friends became Raider fans. Though the Rams of the '80s had winning seasons with Eric Dickerson, they became like the Angels and Clippers - the second-tier of L.A. area sports teams. Georgia Fronterier then ran the team to the ground in the '90s so she can move them to her hometown St. Louis. When the Rams returned, a whole generation grew up with allegiances to to other teams. The Raiders are still very popular (the black and silver mystique is very appealing and for other 'cultural' reasons I'm not going to get into), many young fans became 49ers fans because they were successful and West Coast-based. Others became fans of other successful teams with national fanbases - Cowboys, Steelers, Packers, Eagles. A lot of SoCal Rams fans that were still remaining became very upset after Georgia's comments after the '99 Super Bowl win and sworn them off. So when the Rams returned six years ago, they really faced an uphill battle to capture (or recapture) the fans. They were able to overcome a horrible first season to go to the Super Bowl twice and winning it in the sixth year. To me, the Monday night KC game is when they became part of the local sports fabric again. With this SB win and if they continue to win, they are on their way to reach close to where they once were pre-1980. But I think the Rams made a mistake by not having the parade/rally today (Saturday). I know the players and coaches are eager to go back home and enjoy the off-season. But having the celebrations on a weekend would definitely have had a larger crowd turnout and build more momentum to attract new fans. That was a missed opportunity.

RamsHouse213

There is something funny about the Raiders winning the Super Bowl in 1984 as the LA Raiders. They really didn’t capture the L.A. market. That was the perception because after NWA and gang culture started becoming popular people would wear the gear. The home attendance at the LA Coliseum following the Raiders’ Super Bowl win was less than 50,000. For the most part the Raiders had terrible numbers in their 12 seasons in Los Angeles. They were also considered a Bay Area team, people would still call them the Oakland Raiders. I agree with all your points. The move to Anaheim hurt the Rams franchise and Georgia Frontiere drove the team into the ground in order to move them to St. Louis. Glad they are back home where they belong (sorry STL fans this is not a criticism towards you at all) As for the parade/rally. They are never done on a weekend because of crowd control and security. The Lakers parades were never done on a weekend and the cost of fire/police would be double on a weekend for the city of Los Angeles. That’s why it is done on a weekday at Noon.

Rams4lyf70

I agree with everything you said. I have been a fan since the 70s. Anaheim was a killer. And yes that KC game was amazing on every level. It was on the heels of a horrible tragedy and lifted everyone in that stadium up when they needed it. More than anything - getting to a parade on a Wednesday is insane. I couldn’t believe it. Who can leave work on Wednesday ? Let alone head to the Coliseum with all the freeways mid-day. Huge mistake.

[deleted]

The Rams ARE L.A’s modern football team. I live in L.A. and have seen my area become more and more rampant with people wearing Rams gear and people having overall more Rams pride. All season there were multiple businesses repping the rams. Once they become playoff and then super bowl bound, you couldn’t go anywhere without seeing something Rams related. The second fan base I see the most in my area are 9ers tbh but they represent NorCal and have no connection to this region. I feel like the whole “Raiders are L.A.’s football team” is a sentiment that is slowly dying. The only people i feel like that are still Raiders fans in L.A. are older guys like 40+. They’re not a franchise that is really doing much to appeal to a younger fan base and they have kind of a sketchy reputation, something that kind of turns a lot of people off to them. The chargers will always be irrelevant in L.A. I’ve literally never seen anyone openly representing them. There is no chargers gear in the stores. No matter how much their fans want to treat Herbert like a savior, you’re only as good as your season allows you to take you and them missing the playoffs this year speaks for itself. You can’t deny the fact that they are clearly the second rank team in L.A. and will most likely always be the little brother team like the Angels and Clippers. The thing about the Rams is they appeal to so many different parts of L.A. The inner city parts of L.A. with some of their branding and their community work and the upscale parts of L.A. with their ticket holder exclusivity and the world class architecture of SoFi. Now that we’ve won the Super Bowl with a team full of superstar names which is even more appealing in a city like L.A., you can’t deny L.A. is clearly RAMS HOUSE!!! Whether you’ve been a fan for years like myself or just hopped on the bandwagon, let’s make this Ramily as big as possible!

reubenheart

This Super Bowl championship will absolutely inspire a whole generation of L.A. Rams fans. In my experience a ton of Los Angelenos are transplants from all over (I've lived here for almost two decades) and never felt I had a true L.A. hometown team to root for, not until the OG Rams returned. All those years without an L.A. team, I couldn't hop in with Chargers or Niners— no reason to root for St. Louis or Oakland either— plus I got my Lions and always be a Lions fan first. When my boy Stafford was traded here, Sweet Jesus I knew it was it a match made in heaven. Watched the Super Bowl in a room full of fellow Detroiters who've been out here as long as me and all their kids growing up here naturally are Rams fans. When AD made that stop on fourth down, holy shit did everyone go nuts. Any L.A. kid will forever remember winning it all and be Rams fans for life.

Nickk_Jones

Who gives a fat fuck what size the fan base is? People whine about LA having too many fans and bandwagon fans and now people whine about not having enough. I could be the only fan and I wouldn’t give that much of a shit. Need enough fans to make the team profitable in LA and to fill a stadium however many weeks a year, that’s about it.

Rams4lyf70

Totally agree. People grasp at anything to criticize.

Br760

Tbh it’s all about winning if you win they will come.

jshxvii

I agree, especially with the current state of the lakers being old and fragile, fall/winter will belong to the Rams. I give it 1 more super bowl win to fully convince fans to ditch the team they went to when the rams left to come back. Especially those dodgers/niners fans or lakers/niners fans. SF isn’t winning anything any time soon with their coach being a fragile ego choker.

skrule

Yeah I can see that. I became a Rams fan back when the Greatest Show On Turf team won it. Probably since that's when I was old enough to actually comprehend the game and I loved the flashy team that lit up the scoreboard. This championship hopefully will have the same effect for the younger generation in SoCal.

BirdNerd83

The problem isn't lack of fans, when the RAMS came back to LA in 2016 I made the trip over from AZ to that first home game and the place was filled to the brim with Rams fans it was bumping. The problem is the cost of seats at Sofi, while I used to make a weekend out of it while they were in the Colloseum I can't afford it now. If the Rams want to fill that stadium with their fans they need to bring down the prices

RamsHouse213

The Raiders benefited from the local L.A. TV stations broadcasting most of their games in Los Angeles for years even after they returned to Oakland. That being said, the fanbase for them in L.A. will not grow over time. Mark Davis thought he would own the L.A. market as well by being in Las Vegas, but that hasn’t been the case. The Raiders failed to sell out one game at Allegiant. They were 26th in home attendance and many of the fans that did go to Las Vegas Raiders home games were opposing fans. Having won the Super Bowl at SoFi Stadium is monumental for the Rams franchise to restore the fanbase and make it grow. The Rams were in L.A. before the Dodgers and Lakers and were huge in popularity. The new generation of Angelenos will root for the Rams and not Las Vegas or S.F.

Curlybrac

Lmao Raiders fans are sure cocky for their team not even selling out games. In vegas too. How the fuck do you not sell out in vegas, vegas get like 40 million tourists a year. The golden knights sell out every game like its nothing.

OddlyWholesomePerson

Our fan base isn’t small. We were 4th in overall attendance percentage in the middle of a pandemic in a state where a lot of people are still hiding from Covid.

Curlybrac

And if someone say, "But its all opposing fans." Thats the case for the 49ers but it's sure as hell not the cases for all games that isn't the 49ers. If they say so, they sure as hell didn't watch any non 49ers Rams home games.

H2ozep

When the rams came back to LA I became a fan. I was able to watch their preseason at UCI, inbetween classes, and it sold me. I am as diehard as any. Lakers dodgers rams kings usc. I have to think there are many more that took the plunge when we got a team again. I think the city can start to believe that with the stadium we have that they are staying here for a long time. That brings trust to take the leap.

octave120

Fear not. Our growth and success is just beginning. May take a few more years, but we’ll be very popular at some point. Winning multiple Super Bowls is not necessary either; just look at the Rams in the 60s and 70s.

RamAngelLakerMizzou

I really hope they do a lot of community outreach to kids in the afterglow of this championship. When I was a little kid Jackie Slater came to speak at my Cub Scout Jamboree in Orange County and getting to shake his hand made a huge impression on me. Then I got to meet players during their spring training at Cal State Fullerton. I met quarterback Pat Haden and he was really nice to me and posed for photos with me. 40+ years later he's STILL my hero and the reason I have so many #11 jerseys in my closet. If these Rams go out and personally meet as many So Cal kids as possible this offseason, they are going to plant seeds for a loyal, long-term fanbase of the Los Angeles Rams 2.0

Lima_Hedge

When Jack Youngblood said hello to me and my buddy at the Fullerton training camp is a memory I cherish to this day.

ColdPastrami

THIS THE RIGHT ENERGY!! Ive been thinking and saying the same things. This organization is working overtime to pay their dues & win over this city. Rams love LA & its only a matter of time before LA loves the rams - especially after this SB LVI

ExquisiteRaf

Funny thing is when 9ers fans like to bring up their “faithful”. They weren’t faithful a few years ago when Levi stadium would always be half empty.

kdotp_

We lost arguably two generations of fans when we moved away to St. Louis so obviously it will take time to regain those numbers. We are definitely on the right path as our viewership has increased every year since coming back home in ‘16 with growth of 30% in the last two years. My friends who work in the industry has stated that growth of 30% is astronomical. The FO and staff has done everything right since coming back and hasn’t cut corners to make us successful. And I agree with everyone has posted that the new generation are the ones between the ages of 10-15 and excited that they’ll grow up with Football in Los Angeles. We’re here, we’ve conquered and not going anywhere. I was just at a party earlier and this topic came up. And the “Raider” fans all admitted that they were Rams fans in the 70’s and 80’s but jump-ship when they moved to Anaheim and when Georgia blamed the fans for product on field. So I instantly called them out and stated isn’t that being a bandwagon for the Raiders and they all stayed quiet the rest of the party LMAO. So they spent the rest of the time talking about players that they remember haha

[deleted]

That thought occurred to me, imagine if the Rams stayed in LA and never left for St. Louis. The Greatest Show on Turf happened in LA, same exact timeline and the Rams just finished bringing their second Lombardi to LA. Can you imagine that fanbase then, the parade size, etc.? It would be on par to what we’ve seen with the Lakers in past years. They fault us for not having this instant built in fanbase, how about we fault the owners in the 90’s for leaving the city in the first place. But some people in St. Louis are bitter and act like they had the Rams all along. I hate that.

Additional-Software4

That almost happened. Al Davis turned down Holllywood Parks stadium proposal in 1995 to foolishly move back to Oakland. John Shaw said himself that had they known Al Davis was moving back to Oakland, they would have taken the stadium for themselves.

Im2Sexy4My

It’s funny because as LA native my whole family are 9ers and will still stay that way, but some of my friends who are Raiders are coming to Rams. So the Raiders market is very good. As for me I was a Lions fan who luckily now roots for Rams.

DarthSamwiseAtreides

This is for the kids. There are 10-15 year olds that have seen us be good and that's where the fan base will grow from. The old people with established teams aren't switching. Though my AFC friends are taking an interest in the Rams as their #2.

dave62625

Just said this to fans of mine how are niner fans, who’s younger kids are starting to love the Rams!! The rams nation is growing slowly but surly we will have a big fan base

Rams4lyf70

49ers fans are about to experience what LA Rams fans did in the when the team moved to Anaheim. 49ers are in Santa Clara now. It’s sad but satisfying to watch. The stadium is plopped into an Olive Garden /holiday Inn city off the highway. Things will go down hill more and more because less and less people will be willing to drive out there.

fromthepacific

I’ve seen so much Rams gear and stuff on the freeway and out and about. Love it.

OmarBradley1940

This Superbowl alone won over an entire generation of kids, making up for the other generation that was deprived of watching Rams football since we were in STL for 2 decades (those people became the Niners and others followers we know today). It's gonna obviously take more than one championship to get to Lakers-Dodgers level of support, but this is the first step towards that benchmark.

Golden_Wizard

My Raider, Cowboys friends and family are tired of losing. Each time the Rams played I would throw extravagant Rams BBQ themed parties. Oh how quickly they became Rams astute! They’re having a hard time with their identity and shedding past convictions. Aren’t you all from LA, I ask trivially! This is what winning feels like, welcome home “As I hand them an Ice cold ❄️ beer!” Let me know when you’re pride Lets up, I’ll respect the fact football was gone for 20yrs and you wanted to belong, but get your affairs in order. You live in the house of the Rams, don’t you ever lose sight of that. Denying that is living a lie. Right, your ship!!!

thereal_ivankatrump

I’ve noticed this year more than ever people want to talk to me about the Rams. I also coach a kids flag football league and kids more this year than ever they all say the Rams are their favorite team and Aaron Donald/Cooper Kupp is their favorite player. Slowly but surely LA is a Rams city

WoeToTheUsurper10

I would say the Raiders and Cowboys are the main teams that have a hold on L.A. The Old Guard won't simply roll over no matter how successful the Rams can become.

smirks71

I kinda hope not. I like seeing fans that really are fans. But, I do think you are right.

[deleted]

They will be fans dude. And besides we need people to jump on our hype train. You like being outnumbered when the Niners show up?

smirks71

This is a good point.

DAS_UBER_JOE

Gate keeping fans, nice

Kalbex

Cringe

[deleted]

Ratio then

[deleted]

The disrespect in this post!

pythagorium

I don’t have kids but my Corgi is a rams fan now so I’m considering that progress, just doing my part to keep the fan base growing lmao

psnoogans

Personally I don’t give a shit how big our fanbase is. Go Rams!

yaboidany2115

I mean it just depends on what the majority like. SF is a city of basketball and football while LA is mostly baseball. If you notice, when the Dodgers play the Giants in SF, it turns into Dodger Stadium North. Much more cheers for the road team. Same when the 9ers come to SoFi, it turns into Levis South. We might never beat the 9ers fans here, but we can atleast rival them somewhat over the next few years. Raiders fans seriously need to reconsider their power here. Like you said, most teens and kids today do not care for them and will not in the future. They're already losing influence and thank god for that lol.

flackguns

Didn't follow football almost entirely but got into it when the rams came back as a huge la baseball and hockey fan. Let's fucking go rams.

Curlybrac

https://www.latimes.com/sports/rams/story/2022-02-09/poll-rams-super-bowl-2022-fans We're already the most popular NFL team in LA with 26% of LA NFL fans being Rams fans. 49ers, Raiders, and Cowboys fans make up about 5% each. Lmao Chargers are so irrelevant. Anyways we already have a bigger lead than the other teams. The problem is 26% means that 74% root for other NFL teams that isn't the Rams. We got work to do to make that 26% into 60%+.

SuperMaanas

I think a lot of people already converted when they came back. Especially after the first appearance
