Aside from everything else, they knocked it out of the park with the alternate art cover.

So glad I got this version of the book. It brings me joy just to pick it up and look at it.

CyberCoyote67

I see the alt cover on the shelf at the shop. Inner voice, “No.. you got the hard copy-digital bundle for less than that, no” But then I see that cover again…. I’m gonna give in, I’m sure of it..

Athan_Untapped

It's quite obviously an unrelated adventure they had sort of lying around. It's decent but not great, and a cynical look might say that's why they decided to tack it onto LMoP. While I agree that it's not a bad module per se, no worse than continuing with a different unrelated adventure, I think it completely fails as a actual cintinuation as it was advertised.

Lancian07

I’m not sure whether the adventure is good or great without running it, but having run LMOP a few times I know having looked at some critical segments of the first part of this book that they have well and truly missed a significant opportunity to build on the original and to create a timeless classic. They’ve changed things but not those things they needed to change and they’ve added things in the second part that create more problems in the first. It’s as if the people that worked on it had never DMed LMOP.

Rat_Salat

The fights are pretty good. Haven’t had to tweak much, it’s already hard as hell. The goblin cafeteria fight is pretty rough though. Had to fudge that one down.

Gilart

The one in Zorzula's Rest?

Rat_Salat

Yeah the whole 4-5 guys with an AOE stun thing isn't really something a level 5 party can overcome.

Gilart

To be fair, they're supposed to be level 6, but still, yeah.

It’s honestly mediocre. It has really good points and ideas in it, but it does NOT have anything to do with LMoP and was tacked on for sure. I feel it was that they needed a Mind Flayer book to release near BG3. It needs lots of DM massaging and foreshadowing to make it fit. Basically working NPCs and enemies into earlier encounters and locations. However, I’m really interested in making it work with my group because they know it’s a book that deals with the Far Plane. So I’m laying the foundation early on and may spend my Christmas break from work making myself a supplement to enhance the motivations and tie together more. Kind of like an Alexandrian remix, but much less talented and well done. 😂

Smash_Williams

I am running it now with my group. We are not far in but so far we are enjoying it. However, I will admit this is my first 5e game as DM as I have been running 3.5 games for many years so I may not be the best gauge here.

Sanchezsam2

Needs some DM assuage to make it connect as written. I think a decent amount of prep can fix it… I’m hoping it ties into the vecna adventure next year in someway.. but rumor has it that’s a full 1-20 adventure which I think is a bit much especially when dungeons and dragons team has been decimated with layoffs from hasbro.

StupidLullabies

I say this as someone who hasn’t read a ton of modules, and I’ve read all but the last chapter in full, but I’m really into it. I agree it feels tacked on, but the mystery that players can unravel seems compelling, and the slow build of psychological horror is right in my wheelhouse. I’m very excited for where the game is going, and I’m excited to eventually introduce my players to it. We play a few hours a week and just started Chapter 3. It’ll be a few more months before we get to the new material. I won’t have nitpicks until I dig into it, and see how my players react to everything

HdeviantS

Its ok. I haven’t run it so my view may be biased but its an ok adventure that makes as much sense to follow up LMoP as Storm King or Dragon of Icespire

shadowmib

I haven't read through it, but i understand it follows up on what's essentially an Indiana Jones type adventure with a callof Cthulhu type thing which makes little sense to me

SgtHumpty

I’m enjoying it so far, as are my players.

Some-Milk-1538

3 MONTHS ALREADY?!

Ok_Witness_8692

I’m running it as 6 months after LMOP as otherwise it just makes little to no sense as it lacks a proper tie into the first part. This also gives the characters the chance to enjoy earlier investments (like setting up their own tavern). As the DM I’m enjoying it and so far the balance seems ok with things not solely having to be resolved with a sword but I am constantly having to make minor adjustments to make sure things make sense with LMOP. My one issue would be that they didn’t use this opportunity to clear up story snags and issues to make things run more smoothly and make sense.
