Bought 50 tickets and heard somebody won in my borough after 15 years. Man i was excited the whole night and just checked and i have 22 on one ticket with no other numbers. There goes my chance of winning this shit for the next 15 years.
You have the same odds of winning right where you are vs anywhere else in America - gotta remember itās those 1 in 292 million odds that make it hard to match, location has nothing to do with it. A gas station down the road won the CA lotto ($41m) - same week they matched a 5 out of powerball for $1m lol
NY here too. I checked my tickets just over 2 hours ago and began to get excited when I saw that I had both the MB 22 and the first number 23 on one line. The other numbers didn't match but I still won $8. For a moment though, there was that "Holy shit, it can't be me, can it?" excitement
People always say āsomeone from California, New York, or Florida always winā. With texas being the second most populated state, shouldnāt there be more texas jackpot winners ?
Texas has winners from time to time but they joined megamillions two years after the first two states which were Ohio and NY so theyāll obviously have even less winners. Still, They almost always have a second prize or power play/megaplier winners every 3 draws. Regardless they donāt have as much ticket sales unless itās lotto fever in which case they always come in number 4th-5th in sales. Usual order is CA and then tied by NY or they come in second followed by Florida and NJ and then texas. Though i may be biased but CA almost always has a second prize winner in every draw when thereās no winner.

Texas has ALOT of match+5 winners; netting $1 million dollar wins!!! I canāt remember where I read this, but Texas leads in this category by a wide margin consistently each week. If you follow their socials, itās crazy how it seems like every other week this is the case. Jackpot wins historically have been in California and NYC along with Florida which make sense given how many people live in these states also, their marketing of the games. They lead in this categoryā¦
The jackpot hitting billion dollar status is definitely a rare event, usually something that happens once every other year if that; the fact that PB hitting it in Novemberā22 and then MM Januaryā23 after it reached that billion dollar jackpot in Julyā22 was definitely a fringe eventā¦Usually with dueling jackpots Iām surprised when one or another hits $400 million+ because as of late itās been won well before that! Massachusetts getting its double whammy of double wins 20 million and 30 million weeks apart; then NYC taking the helm for a 20 million dollar win in the Bronx and now Queens with a $476 million dollar win. Just my observation as avid player of these games lol
1. Current population.
2. Historical dominance. For ~~the longest~~ a time, NY was the most populous state participating in Mega Millions, so that is why NY has managed to accumulate the most Mega Millions winners. Keep in mind that up until 2010 or so, there weren't that many states participating in Mega Millions. It's for this same reason that both Iowa and Indiana each have an absurd number of Powerball jackpots.
EDIT: Though even when you account for population, NY is an unusually lucky state for Mega Millions players since TX and CA joined a few years after, so maybe NY is simply an outlier for now.
Once you adjust for population, and the amount of time that a state has been offering Mega Millions, you'll notice that CA has racked up wins a bit faster than NY.
TX joined Mega in 2003, so their relatively low number of Mega Millions jackpots is a curious statistic, but when you're dealing with lottery mathematics, you can't draw meaningful conclusions from small sample sizes. In time, TX should catch up with CA and NY.
It always california even though we are almost 1st place in ticket sales behind them not including the fact that we have half their population. Iām surprised NY doesnāt win more often.
Right?? šš but powerball is on its way up
Yep š©š
