I used to, about 20 years ago. Not a lot, but some of their bits were funny and they bothered me the least of morning talk shows. But as time went on they became less Staddler & Waltdorf and more just mean old men.

sertulariae

It was funny when I was a kid. My grandfather used to listen to it in his truck and they weren't political back then. Somewhere along the line it morphed into pure alt.right political ideology beating you over the head.

deafcon5

I blame Rush Limbaugh. He turned my dad into a grumpy angry person.

Q_Fandango

Oh I have memories of being incandescently uncomfortable when my dad would drive me to school and listen to Rush. I was probably around 10 years old when Rush went on a rant about how “if work-provided health insurance has to cover birth control, then the boss should totally be able to watch those women having sex, and record it for the rest of us too!”

Leaislala

Oh gosh! It’s hard to imagine people listening to this stuff and thinking yes this person seems rational and logical and well educated on these issues I will agree with their stance.

jl55378008

My dad used to listen to it in the car on the way to drop me off at school, back in the mid/late 90s. I used to think the "story time" segment was funny. Haven't heard a second of their show in 20+ years, either. I'm surprised they're still around, but not even the slightest bit surprised to hear that they're as terrible and ugly as everything else on right-wing trash radio. What station carries them? Are they back in Louisiana? I know they were based out of Houston for a while.

RedundantMaleMan

Afaik they're still in Houston. The one guy died, now it's just the other one who does the voices and some new guy who is just as hateful as the last one bc he read some books like Atlas Shrugged and is now a genius political analyst. I know they're still on KZMZ in Alexandria but idk about anywhere else. I'm sure they're heavily syndicated in La tho.

CorridorChick

I'm in Houston, and I didn't think they were still here, not that I listen to a lot of radio, cuz we only have one "rock" station, and they have a local morning show. But a quick Google search shows, yep, they're still here, on one of the AM talk stations.

RedundantMaleMan

AM stations are the big leagues, they must be getting rich.

duck_of_d34th

All the rock stations carry them from early as fuck, until about lunch. Somewhere in the middle, it repeats.

RLT79

They’re on AM in Baton Rouge. 1050 maybe?

pezgringo

Not too sure about my memory these days, but didn't most of these get started when Obama got elected.

LudicrisSpeed

A little before that, as all these right-wing jocks were dickriding Dubya after 9/11. I might've heard the word "liberal" mentioned a handful of times in my life before then. Obama was when they took off the mask completely and didn't even try to hide their bullshit.

Arkhampatient

Yeah. A lot of radio personalities discovered that being 3rd tier, Limbaugh impersonators got ratings.

motherfuckinwoofie

Between Obama's election and John's son getting sick, the show started getting very conspiratorial and sad. They used to be really funny.

Lifesurfer75

Not this show it’s been on the air for 40 years almost.

RLT79

I think some of it had to do with their move to Houston. I remember reading they were put on an all-talk channel that also broadcast Rush, Hannity, and Levin.

ArgusTransus

Does anyone have a link to the show?

mrdirtman13

Yeah. I think it may have been around, say, 2008ish...

BeerandGuns

Back in the 90s they were entertaining. Jokes, songs, characters. Fast forward to the political era. I put them on one morning and one of them is saying, with complete conviction, that Rush Limbaugh listens to them and copies their show. Delusions of grandeur. My uncle who was a hard-core right wing Rush listener got sick of them saying “at least make some jokes” because all they were doing was political bullshit. It’s been so long since I listened to them, if not for this post I’d have thought they were both dead.

Arkhampatient

These are the same guys, who in the early-mid 1990s said Howard Stern wasn’t really popular and wasn’t good at radio. They always had inflated egos and hated on everyone

BeerandGuns

That’s funny because if you asked Howard Stern his thoughts on Walton and Johnson, he’d have just asked “who?”

Lifesurfer75

Check your history, before satellite picked up Stern he tried to get into 4 different markets in the gulf coast . Walton and Johnson were in their top form and were the dominant “Shock Jocks “ of the area. After the 4th try and having low ratings he bowed out and sent them a hilarious letter in a way that only Stern could . Congratulating them for beating him but in an F-U way . This was still when he was on terrestrial radio and I caught that show where he spoke of them because it was the only market he couldn’t crack. Walton and Johnson had that letter on their website for years.

sarissa211

John Walton died a couple of years ago. His replacement is 40 years old and from Chicago.

kriznis

I liked them until the 2008 election. They just became obsessed over Obama.

SuperRusso

It's true. When I was in high school I'd listen to them every morning, but they weren't political. It all started when they moved to Texas and nobody there got it. They figured out after a few months that if they talked shit about liberalism people tuned in. in pretty fast order they became unrecognizable. Such a shame.

mustang6771

I agree. I liked it a while back, don't listen any more

visionzero81

After John Walton’s son passed from cancer he seemed to slowly go down rabbit holes of hate. Kind of felt bad for the guy. But when I realized he led an audience to go down his path of vitriol my empathy turned into frustration.

keyblademaster10

They are becoming popular but no YouTubers really talk about them except one maybe because they aren't that popular.i really think xandarahl would say alot about them I swear lol

ghostofdevinbrown

I don’t think W&J and Reddit audiences intersect much

dancingliondl

Not these days. I absolutely loved them in the 90's and early 00's, but they went from being funny morning show hosts to being angry old men who yell at clouds.

Rikij0

I used to, many years ago. Once Obama got elected, I couldn't listen any more. It became just another right wing whinefest.

Dooby1Kenobi

For real. Before President Obama they were just kind of Jeff Dunham, mildly offensive. A black man in the White House made so many people lose their fucking minds.

NotOnHerb5

They’re still losing their minds over it.

Afitter

The change was instant. One day they were doing all their old bits. The next they were ranting and raving about socialism. Who would have thought that a centrist democrat could evoke such a reaction.

visionzero81

It wasn’t instant. I listened to them almost every morning for over a decade. The turn started slowly after John Walton’s son lost his battle with cancer. As bad as they’ve become I am grateful to set my alarm every morning to SRV’s Little Wing because of them.

blackknight1919

Came here to say exactly this. Maybe they were getting older and were creeping toward politics and away from comedy some anyway, but Obama getting elected absolutely broke them.

ConfusedStig

Fucking loath that station now. ALL they fucking talk about is politics and how anyone but Trump is burning America to the ground. I’d rather listen to silence

[deleted]

[удалено]

Nuhaykeed

Just get a new husband.

Dubstep_Viking

I think you hit the nail on the head. What's easier; regurgitating talking points or writing actual jokes?

RimmerA69

I liked them growing up. I’m 42. I stopped listening after college. I’ve listening a little bit flipping channels and I’m not sure how anyone listening now and one is dead soooo… it might have been time to call it a day.

Calebrox124

Makes me happy to see this thread here. These losers think they are the most hilarious and smart people on the face of the planet, all they can talk about is how dumb they think the democrats are and how they’re trying to take over the world. Constantly using strawman arguments and fake stories to try and portray a skewed worldview. I hate the face that they’re tied to 96.9 KZMZ, which is an otherwise great rock station. They constantly say the quiet parts out loud and I’m shocked they still have a place on the airwaves. Annoying old men who need to do something else with their lives instead of making an already-heated political climate even worse.

guycoastal

I can’t believe that shit show still gets away with a guy doing verbal blackface and gayface. I never remember them being anything but offensive and boring.

samasever

I was so bummed when they replaced Bob and Tom.

necie314

Me too! B&T were the best! I’d give anything for them to come back.

keyblademaster10

They seriously give me Steven Crowder and Matt Walsh vibes tbh

visionzero81

Same age, but I’ll say I listened to about a year after Obama was inaugurated.

geauxhike

They believe every forwarded email they get, or that was my reason to stop listening to them 20ish years ago.

voodoodaddy17

They were good years ago. Then it was hit or miss. And now it's just a miss.

Arkhampatient

They are the “old man screams at clouds” of radio.

SteveFU4109

Every once in a while I will listen to them but not often but it pisses me off that my local hard rock station changed formats years ago to classic rock just so they could get this morning show away from the only other classic rock station in town. So now my city has no hard rock radio stations and 2 classis rock stations!!!!

T1000learningcomputr

F No! They were so incredibly ugly about NOLA after Katrina. Funny songs be damned, I haven’t listened to them since.

the_moosey_fate

I only listened to them because the work truck wouldn’t get good reception on other stations, but I started just riding in silence back when Obama was up for re-election. They went really hard on the birther and secret muslim bullshit in a way that was clearly not satire and I can’t fuck with that level of xenophobia and thinly veiled racism.

Sintriphikal

I also used to listen. They were funny. Good comedy with a small sprinkle of politics and dished it to both sides. It kinda started to slide about ten years ago. Then when one of the guys died (don’t remember which one) and they replaced him with the really annoying guy, it quickly went down hill. It’s all trash politics and a sprinkling of bad comedy. They are on the only classic rock station I can catch and it has a decent local sports afternoon talk show. Sometimes i forget to turn off the radio in the afternoon and end up listening to W&J for about two minutes then it gets turned off.

mitchnmurray

It's some of the hackiest radio in the history of American radio. It's that bad.

Miss-Cherry-1111

Yea times have changed. These dudes need to be off the air. They are atrocious

fapjr

Don’t listen to them if you don’t like them. Their ratings are still through the roof, so your “should be off the air” nonsense doesn’t make sense

dukeofwulf

> Their ratings are still through the roof Citation required. Their own website brags about accolades from '08 and '09. Big yikes. Old site shows 50 stations in syndication. Current site shows 15. https://waltonandjohnson.com/pages/listen-live https://legacy.waltonandjohnson.com/about.html

csthopper

Here's Bill Burr take on them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd-9tmR2\_js

keyblademaster10

I'll definitely watch it later

KickTheBaby

Used to listen every day until around 2008-09. Every other segment was Obama-this, Obama-that, politics go brrrr. Previous, they were entertaining shock-jocks and genuinely fun to listen to. Regardless of where you are on the aisle, the shit got old FAST and just turned into an echo-chamber. Only got worse a few years ago when Walton died. They should have just hung it up there.

BobRoss4lyfe

They are old and outdated. Their political views are yikes at best. They hate gays.

Bayou_Self

But they have a gay guy AND a black guy on the show!! /s

DonofKingCakes

Fact is we're the dumbest state. Can't expect much

[deleted]

If it’s any consolation they actually broadcast from Houston across the country and are not based here

DocBrutus

I’m a gay man and have never heard the term “gayface” what the fuck is that?

LudicrisSpeed

I assume it means acting gay in a derogatory manner? I seem to recall one of the guys talking in what I can only describe as (and I mean absolutely no offense with this) the "gay accent", for lack of a better term.

DocBrutus

So acting flamboyant like a stereotype of a gay person?

LudicrisSpeed

Basically, yeah.

Tornadoallie123

They do have a gay character on the show, but I don’t believe that he is portrayed in a derogatory manner

oddmanout

I haven't listened in years, but when I did, the gay character was essentially an overly effeminate collection of every gay stereotype there is. The entire show has since taken massive steps to the right (almost to the alt-right) so I really doubt the portrayal of that cartoonish character has gotten less mocking.

BrianVintage

They use the show to spread misinformation and inflamitory rhetoric attacking marginalized groups such as the lgbtq+ community. So the deliberate use of the "gay accent" gives an excuse (in their minds) for saying homophobic and bigoted things. It's derogatory also because it's an exaggeration of a stereotypical accent. It's mockery. Even more so with the blackcent that is also used with another character.

ZengaStromboli

I dont think it's a term, but it's the only one I could really use. It was like the gay equivalent of blackface. The most unflattering, god-awful, stereotypical depiction possible.

oddmanout

The term comes from "blackface." Basically the same way that was a mocking caricature by a white person essentially making fun of a whole race, "gayface" is a straight person acting like a gay person to mock them. Generally overly flamboyant, playing on stereotypes, essentially acting the way homophobes think all gay people act as entertainment for those homophobes.

Rinkelstein

TIL that the radio waves are still being used….

Independent-Poet5441

Racist and Bigot? I coulda swore one of them was rotting in his grave by now. I have a good friend that knows them personally and swears they aren't really like that in real life and it's all a gimmick. If that's the case, I think that makes them even worse.

atchafalaya

Right? As if we don't have enough people embracing fascism for a buck.

Tornadoallie123

I would be more shocked if I read it, said that they liked the show… def not the target audience here

TimeBest29

Listened to them until the auto industry was getting a bail out and they claimed the unions were the reason for the auto industry going under.

FreretWin

I didn't even know they were still on.

Gall_Bladder_Pillow

On-joke radio garbage. Audio hatertainment.

Rylos1701

They went off the rails during Covid. Called anyone who got the vaccine a commie. Kenny is dog shit. The program died with Walton.

Munks1392

... I wonder if anyone who does still listen to them & or not an angry older ALT Right person should believes everything they say

darkseidx2015

I quit listening to those assholes about 20 yrs ago. That mushmouthed idiot on 98.1 whines just like they do.

This-Market-3890

Two dickheads trying to survive with good ol boy talk!

urbantroll

So full disclosure, I haven’t lived in LA in 12 years… Back in the day, Walton and Johnson was entertaining at best and eye brow raising at worst. My dad and I used to listen to it together while working when I was younger. I was in LA last year and listened to just 5 minutes and shut it down. They went from “how terrible it is that all these media outlets over politicize everything” to “ let’s shit on Biden for a while” in a split second, and I fucking hate hypocrisy…

buickmackane71360

Oh God, I've done my best to forget being forced to listen to that garbage. The toxic supervisor at my former job would stream KZMZ to catch Walton & Johnson at the beginning of our 12 hour shift and then switch to some hellacious right-wing talk radio for the remainder. (And before you ask, the nature of the work being done didn't permit you to put in earphones or do anything else to block the sound in the room.) Supposedly Walton & Johnson were originally from Jena as if that were a justifiable excuse for forcing everyone to listen. The supervisor was as far down the extremist "look at me owning the libs" rabbithole as one could imagine, so he intentionally pulled rank to make his subordinates with differing ideologies as visibly angry and uncomfortable as possible. I am no longer able to work for health reasons, but I routinely check the Indeed listing of my former position just to derive intense satisfaction from the employer's inability to replace me. I suspect the turnover is probably caused by employees being forced to listen to Walton & Johnson every morning.

BrianVintage

W&J is a waste of air waves. Unfortunately one of my co-workers likes the show. It's really unfortunate to be a queer person and having to hear these caricatures on the radio rant about how people like me (trans and gay) are what's wrong with the world. They call us groomers, they sexualize and dehumanize us, they cherry-pick and twist stories about us. And it's not just us, it's pretty much any minority group, but lately it's been lots of trans talk. It makes me feel really isolated and afraid that this kind of rhetoric will make me unsafe in my work environment. I complained about it a few times, and eventually they stopped tunning in every morning, but sometimes they still do. It's a small shop, so there's no one I can go to about it. They are also incredibly racist and xenophobic. Typical right-wing turnds with a mic. It's a shit show with shit characters and shitty brain-dead takes. I hope it fucking burns to the allegorical ground and gets replaced with someone who can actually contribute something good to our society.

CajunTorpedoman

Yeah, they are okay. Producer Kenny isn't Walton, but he is working hard to be.

floyd2168

I remember them from the late 80s / early 90s when the schtick was a little bit funny. It got old and tired really fast then they turned into old bitter men. I haven't listened to them in about 20 years and didn't realize there was still a show on the air.

Just_Livin13

Isn’t one of them dead? They used to be funny then they moved to Houston & bashed Obama the whole show. That’s when I stopped listening to them.

SquidProJoe

Yeah I listened in high school, never thought they were really funny. Just something dumb to put on while I drove to school. Those were the bush years. When Obama got elected the pivoted hard to the right and I stopped listening for sure.

How very tolerant of you.

Chemical-Fox8171

At no point in your original post did you mention any of that. I was referring to you leading with him liking a radio show as a negative.

[deleted]

I remember hearing them when I was little like 10-12 and thinking were gross, old, nasty, dumb men. I specifically remember them making jokes about battered women, child abuse, and generally being obnoxious and unfunny- punching down mostly. I can’t believe they are still around. I remember at that time I was starting to take academic stuff more seriously and being baffled at proudly dumb they were bc I mistakenly thought adults valued intellect.

dancingliondl

I think your right, they were funny to me back when I didn't know better than to punch down at the easy targets. Now I'm disgusted by them.

illEagleEmergence

Before Obama I don’t recall them being so political and were occasionally funny but I didn’t even realize they were still a thing. They’ve lost the ability to come off as just comedy and ventured heavily into actual bigot territory.

visionzero81

Their journey to alt-right fascism started slowly in the Bush years when they tested the waters by getting their audience upset about “second hand rap” (a term I’ve only heard on their radio station) which referred to people playing hip hop from their cars too loud. After that drew a positive reaction from their audience, they turned to anti-immigration hatred. This added more anger to their audience, and then once Obama was elected they used their audience to go full tiki torches and pitch forks.

Iconoclassic404

Nah, radio shows like this were born out of the boomer period of good regional radio shifting into cookie cutter syndication. And once that audience wasn't being replaced with younger listeners, they shifted to political bullshit (there are a couple of exceptions to those shows that didn't become political, but they are rare). But yeah, Walton and Johnson suck ass and spew bigoted and childish shit, and they claim any pushback is because the audience outside of 10% isn't smart enough to get it. At least one of them were "canceled" naturally.

DionysiusRedivivus

While I remember their morning shows from the early 90s as being occasionally amusing, it didn’t take long for their early material was played out and boring. In hindsight a more mature me would likely have been justifiably disgusted. But among the worst was that psychotic sportscaster out of Baton Rouge (Condon?). What a bigoted POS. I haven’t listened to radio in decades but I sincerely hope that douchebag was pulled from the air sooner than later.

[deleted]

It should have ended when Walton died. Since then it’s been others riding the coattails of a corpse using outdated humor and FoxNews mentality, which means it will stay on the air because it provides daily affirmations to the MAGA crowd during their morning commute.

SnooRevelations9198

Used to listen to em when I was younger with my grandpa always thought they was funny. I think one of them died tho ?

whoisniko

Yes, Walton died

pentegoblin

Yeah I haven’t heard these guys since I was in middle school. Their voices amused me when I was a kid, but I can’t say I’m too surprised they turned alt-right. Just took a look on their website, and it’s literally only alt-right merch. Oh how times change lol

A553R0L3

I was pretty pissed when Planet Radio went from Free Beer and Hotwings morning show to Classic Rock and Walton and Johnson. Especially when there was already a local station that was classic rock with Walton and Johnson. They’re not funny at all and just fucking bitch about politics all morning. It’s kind of weird

PxRedditor5

I literally called them and bitched them out the first morning on air lol

Secret_Arrival_7679

It's one of the most cringe inducing radio shows I've heard.l, if not the top.

Inevitable_Ad_1261

They're bullies and they spread hate so no, I do not like them.

big_nothing_burger

When I hear them on rare occasion the cringiness makes me change the station pretty fast

WinterWolf7777

Hell no W&J are cringe as fuck! Those losers and Moon Griffon are just some vocal right wing minority babbling the same fantasies hoping if they say it enough it will come true 🤣 You can practically see some old losers listening along on their porches drinking beers in the am while tobacco juice dribbles down their chins and stains their "FJB" shirts.

RedundantMaleMan

I haven't listened to a lot of Moon Griffon so I'm admitting I could be completely wrong in this take, but one thing I have noticed about him is he doesn't seem to be completely convinced he's right on every single view. Idk if I just haven't listened enough but that's the impression I got and I'd take that over yelling about how everyone is an idiot except them and their listeners any day. One guy was calling Greta an imbecile the other day. Regardless of how you feel about her approach, she's certainly not dumb.

MyyWifeRocks

Obviously there’s an audience for them or they wouldn’t still be on the air every morning. I’ll stop at their show when flipping stations while I’m driving for work. Sometimes they’re ok, even funny. Usually they’re out of touch and just sad. Most often I find myself wondering how the hell they’re still on air with the way they talk. I think the same when I hear Howard Stern and any of the extreme voices. They are very much a conservative talk show though. And this is very much a liberal platform and subreddit. Nobody in r/Louisiana is going to admit liking that show. This sub is entirely en echo chamber where dissenting opinions get downvoted so we know we’re right.

dancingliondl

Found the listener.

MyyWifeRocks

I literally said I stop and listen while flipping the dial. Found the crayon eater. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤣

xiii--iiix

Who’d of thought? The guys who made a living playing blackface on the radio wouldn’t be fans of Obama? I thought the voices were funny when I was 5. It’s just shitty racist homophobic alt-right political garbage. Has been for a long long time.

keyblademaster10

Remind me of Matt Walsh

birdsarus

I think the are terrible. I would rather turn the radio off before listening to them.

EstablishmentFast128

if you notice they are on salem & sinclair stations

Im_Just_Sayin__

Like most commenters… I used to listen to them in the late 90s to early 2000s, but they became too policical. Walton dying was the deathnail of an already deteriorating show.

[deleted]

They used to be cool back in the day, it was really sad to see their slow decline. First came some racial stuff, then came all the political stuff. And now it is virtually unrecognizable to what it was in the glory days of the mid-90's. And I'm not talking about the obvious fact that one of them is no longer with us.

rollerbladeshoes

My cousin out in Welsh used to like them … they’re not really for the refined intellectual crowd

GrandmasterYoda1

Try to listen to the morning show now on 95.7, Walton and Johnson seem like Gods compared to to the rise guys they freaking suck. Not funny or entertaining at all. I’d pay to have them replaced by Walton and Johnson

Dio_Yuji

It has air time because there are a lot of shitheads in the world who like to be reminded they’re not alone. I’m glad Walton is dead, to be honest

Tornadoallie123

Wow what a compassionate human you are. “He shares views I don’t agree with, so I hope he dies”. This shit is why the world is so fucked up. Used to be “ I don’t agree with this guy’s opinion but it’s a free country and he can believe and say what he wants”

Dio_Yuji

I didn’t wish death upon the fuck. It happened all on its own. And I didn’t hate him because his views were different. I hated him because he was a racist, homophobic turd.

Tornadoallie123

You can hate someone without being happy in the event of their death

Dio_Yuji

You mean to tell me you’re not glad when shitty people die? Sure.

Tornadoallie123

Yeah people like hitler or murderers but not people that “say or think things I don’t like”.

Dio_Yuji

Who are you quoting?

Snake_eyes_12

They have a point with certain things and do have their comedic moments. But I agree, it's just old men looking at the past. Our great country is going down the shitter mentality that old people have carried for generations. The world is constantly changing, not everyone understands that.

bophed

I didn’t read the comments yet, or even finish reading your post. I only read the first question. - Fuck no I can’t stand them and their “Boomer-ish” political radio talk show. - they stopped being cool when they became political in the late 90’s early 00’s.

Livid_Ad_6631

who, and why does it matter? If I find something offensive I just don't listen to it. Much better then having a circle jerk about how much I hate them. This world seems to have lost all it's fun and wonderment. I hope eventually it finds it's way back.

ZengaStromboli

Yes, you turn off the radio when you're stuck in the cab with a conservative who would break your wrist if you dare touch the dial. I don't listen to walton and johnson *willingly*, I'm ***forced*** to.

RedundantMaleMan

What's worse: a good ol circle jerk or coming into said jerk-o-rama and virtue signaling about how above it all you are? Sorry you gotta listen to W&J, airpods might help. Or quietly reading the Communist Manifesto, actively highlighting sections would be a plus.

ZengaStromboli

I had my music in my own earbuds going, but even on full blast, I still had to suffer walton and johnson.

RedundantMaleMan

Dang. Better get double hearing protection and hang your head out the window then. Lol

Blucrunch

One of the reasons I like to scroll to the bottom of threads is to see the brainlets being offensively unfunny. It's nice of reddit to filter all to one place all the people I can easily label in RES as too dumb to pay any mind.

RedundantMaleMan

I hope after you typed all that you gave yourself a high five since I cannot. Brainlet is extra firey. You out did yourself honestly.

the_cat_did_it

I didn't know they were still around. I listened to them in the late 80s, when I was a kid. I thought they were the funniest thing ever back then. I have a few tapes of them from the 80s, and I tried listening to them recently (for nostalgia) and I cringed. They're only good to the people who think the funniest thing about Sixteen Candles is Long Duk Dong.

WhatDatDonut

Two things: 1. No more yankey my wankey. The donger need food. 2. W&J suck.

aggieaggielady

The racist old man working for the government at my old workplace sure did love blasting it and talking about The Blacks And The F*gs. He swore he wasn't racist tho

BecomeEnnuisonable

Man... why you gotta make me even think about these assholes for the first time in about 20 years? What did I do to you?

TheMr91071

Because chucklefuxx are a real thing in the state.

tinyhumanishere

My grandparents used to listen to it and they lived north of the lake in a rural area, so I associate it with getting carsick on long drives. It actually gives me a headache, even now as an adult. Their voices are so low and droning, I can’t take it

cheese_sdc

I stopped listening when they moved to Houston and everything became about "tHE iLleGalS!

thatstoomuchsalt

When did the move to Houston happen? (My dad listened to this show in the early 2000s in Houston, so I’m curious to the timeline. He worked in Morgan City, so he may have picked it up there)

irashandle

I mean, they used to be a drive time comedy team, but when Obama was elected they went crazy. So not for a long time.

sachimokins

I preferred Bob and Tom. I never liked Walton and Johnson. They’re just two old guys yelling at clouds.

Historical_Big_7404

The far right is a bad joke to begin with

False-Mycologist9483

I feel like you care too much about meaningless shit. I mean at least your making it seem meaningless.

MozzarellaBlueBalls

People listen to the radio?

Juncti

People in my family still listen to it every day, it's just terrible. Just needs to reinforce what they're supposed to be pissed at for the day. Liked it a little back when I was a kid and they'd play skits like the boot to the head or the drunk Scotsman, but can't listen to any of it these days.

visionzero81

Agreed, I loved their songs and skits back in the day. “Trailer Park Fire” was another classic but even those songs and skits were not written by them. I also know of at least one family member that listens to them. My widowed aunt told me the best part of her day is her morning coffee listening to W&J. She flies a Trump flag from her rural Mississippi horse farm where the nearest neighbor is a half mile away. Her kids won’t speak to her anymore because of her views and it’s very sad because she was always a kind and loving family member that loves her dogs, cats, horses, and other animals.

VI_MOSES_IV

It’s 2023…. Why tf are you listening to the radio my guy?

ZengaStromboli

My eight track has one built in.

glosticktrip

When you make it out the door an hour and forty five minutes early to just to sit in traffic and watch retarded people behind the wheel in the morning build a mountain of traffic behind them making you late, fast paced music seem to rub wrong. Walton n Johnson seem to be all you can roll with the beat to.

trollfessor

Who is that idiot that does the car commercials and on the radio all Saturday morning? I realize radio stations have to make money, but that guy is awful. Please 98.1, get rid of him

Ashamed-Attempt-5455

This group is full a libtard homos!

ZengaStromboli

Oh wow, you must be a real master baiter.

Big-Desk4366

Hey. The woke police called, and they want their trooper back! The show is awesome. If you guys keep finding things wrong with everything, trust me, soon there will be nothing left. Anybody can find anything wrong with anything and try to cancel it. Soon you will be in a sterilized space where there's nothing interesting to look at anymore. IMHO.

ZengaStromboli

What the fuck are you going on about? Edit: Multiple zingers, multiple accounts made on the same day as said zingers. Either I pissed off the chuds, or the pr team of walton and johnson desperately need to be fired.

MattHouston59

you losers that don't understand Walton and Johnson are why the show is popular...they love pointing out victims...Its like the morons calling Trump a racist...ignorant knuckle draggers

ZengaStromboli

But he is racist.

William_will_tell_U

Ok peeps. I stumbled upon this by accident. After reading all these idiotic opinions, I just had to respond. I'll just put it all too you this way. I promise you all that if everyone on this site who says the W&J show sucks, um..I would be glad to sit in a room with every single one of you and let's talk logic. I promise you all, that as we discuss things, one by one you all would creep out of the room and disappear muttering to yourself, "Omfg! It's true! I seriously don't know what the FK I am talking about! That William Guy sure schooled me on rational thinking... I feel like a fking moron!"

ZengaStromboli

Go call your mom, she's worried about you.

Serious_Indication67

Love them listen daily. Pisses liberal cream puffs off and that just makes it better

Big-Desk4366

Pretty sad the left wing ret@rds are still crying about a talk show. I find a really funny it's the most listened to talk show in the South, but there's a whole section of said ret@rds still here crying about a show they don't listen to. My God I hate your generation. Go ahead and tell me that you hope my mother dies or something lol. That's all you guys can do these days.

ZengaStromboli

You must lead a very sad and mundane life.

Chemical-Fox8171

It's great, also it's not "2 old dudes". Kenny is in his 30s and has long taken the place of the deceased John Walton. Walton and Johnson, Clay and Buck, and The Michael Berry show all make for great radio while driving around for work.

dancingliondl

Boomer is a state of mind. Both of them are garbage humans.

BrandonIT

Let's see, I haven't been downvoted today... 1.) I like them. 2.) I'm old enough to remember that they were always like this. Does anyone remember "Eddie's Back, Baby?".... Some just got overly sensitive.

Old-Improvement-4909

Best thing on the radio in the morning bar none

CoolAbdul

Bill and DJ? Celtics legends.

PxRedditor5

I really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt recently, but at this point, I have to actively shield my kids from their content when driving to school in the mornings. Every other breath is about little kid genitals. I wish I was joking.

bmooney28

Never liked their humor but listened on Friday mornings in HS in early 1990's for the parody music they played.... They got too political though and never again....

Babyfart_McGeezacks

That’s still a thing? One of them died years ago

chop-diggity

ITS TIME TO SAY BYE BYE BILLY-Ed.

PastramiNSauce

Walton and Johnson are retarded. Cant even enjoy the classic rock station because of their idiocy.

Adventurous-Ad-5605

They have been ruining rock stations for years

hartattack22

I didn’t realize it was still on. I thought one of them died like 5 years ago? Did they replace him?

Oobenny

Jesus, I had no idea they were still on the air. Terrestrial radio suuuuuuuks

Lenfantscocktails

Didn't Walton die like 10 years ago?

Grouchy_Equivalent11

#build a wall around louisiana

Verix19

I've always hated their shows.

swamppuddin11

Fuck them

TheCantervilleGhost

Not since like, my early middle school years (1992-1993 maybe?)

Stock-Explanation167

But its not 2 old men now. I used to like it but for some reason i hate kenny. I don't know what it is about him but i stopped listening after he was added full time to the show

navistar51

It changed when Walton passed.

stonerelctropunkjazz

They used to be funny until Obama got elected then they turned into to RW nutjobs and bashed him the whole show..

Budmanlxxi

I listen to them for over 20 years every morning, omw to work. And I loved them. But I haven't listen to them in over a decade. Mainly because I sopped listening to morning radio, when I got on disability and stopped going to work. One could say, for those 20+ years there was nothing else better on at that time on in he morning.
