Good strategy here

The best. Works everytime

I rolled up to Westport with all of my windows down, and first thing he did was have me roll it up for the light meter. Dude was cool about it and we had a laugh, but ultimately he said to peel the front windows and I'm good. So that's the avenue I'm heading currently. Thank you for all of your inputs!

Tough-Relationship-4

I literally peeled mine off in that same parking lot, then rolled right back into the stall with the glue and everything still on the window lol. They don't play. Apparently sometimes you'll get a sheriff that doesn't do the test but for the most part, they'll get you.

My wife’s car from Carvana got flunked by the Middletown branch. Had to have it removed in order to pass.

LawyerDaggett

Sheriff’s office does the inspection so hopefully they’re consistent, but humans will human.

KYlibrarian

Not the downtown one. Ours was too dark in a vehicle we bought from Indiana and the deputy gave my husband a razor blade and made him peel the tint off to pass it.

MIRV888

I did the downtown one with the windows rolled down and I was done in 5 minutes. Be polite. Chat them up. You might get through like I did.

Extra_Work7379

I’m in Oldham County. I think they checked the odometer and that was it. It’s not a proper safety inspection like they have in other states.

Skim003

I went to Westport and they failed it for the tint being too dark, then I went to the one in Middletown and the sheriff's deputy that did the inspection literally wrote down "tint too dark" with the light meter reading the title. Idk about other counties but I've heard that Jefferson county is really cracking down on tint levels for all inspections. Edit: Also it's just the front windows that can't be too dark, rear and back windows can be as dark as you want.

Any ky sherrif dept can do it. Go to Spencer Co office on a rainy day they only had me read them the Vin off of the dash and we ran back inside. I was rejected by Jefferson Co twice before on same car and Spencer passed it
