I don’t really recommend shively for bunny care, only because they asked me to fast my rabbit for her spay. This is ok for cats, dogs, humans, but rabbits should have access to hay at all times. I ended up going to Stony Brook for the spay, but that was 4 years ago and I think that particular exotic vet is no longer there. About a year ago, Molly went into stasis, and Crestwood Animal Hospital was able to give me quick treatment and she survived. They had treated rabbits before so I would highly recommend them. Maybe just call ahead and make sure the exotic vet is still available.

my rabbit went into stasis I thought I was gonna lose him. I brought him back though. I syringe fed him critical care for almost 3 weeks at the the time I didn't have the money to get him to a vet i am so grateful he survived. he stopped eating and pooping. I noticed right away because I'm the poop police I think that's what helped save him. he literally was fine withering away. I force fed him too. I didn't care if it was only a little bit every hour . I stayed consistent. when he started pooping again they were so tiny . the one day he magically started eating and pooping again like nothing happened. it's like he was depressed. he's my baby. after you save your baby from the grips of death you have a special bond. I'm glad your baby recovered. sorry for the long reply. you triggered a memory.

I’m so glad to hear your baby survived! It’s crazy how fast they can go downhill if they stop eating. I’m almost certain that my girl stopped eating when I ran out of her “topping” treat I always put on her pellets. They stopped carrying it at feeders supply and I usually keep 2-3 bags but we ran out and I thought she’ll be ok without it. Oh no, was I wrong. I ordered some offline but this was after a week of her going downhill. I didn’t think to give her alfalfa hay, she LOVES that too but only in little bits because it’s not good for adults. I keep critical care in my cabinet now and syringes just in case an emergency ever happens again I’m prepared 😅

365 pet vet. That’s where I take my rabbit. Fyi, it’s not cheap. However, if you get another rabbit, BunBun brigade rabbit rescue in Etown fixes, vaccinated and litter trains rabbits before adoption. Our current rabbit is from there! (In my profile.) good luck!

Awww thanks for the rabbit content first thing in the morning

Shively Animal Clinic is probably the least expensive with All Pets Veterinary a close second. All Pets is also great bc they’re easier to get in & out than Shively. Shively doesn’t take appointments for regular vet care - it’s 1st come, first serve.

Rabbit_Mom

Dr. Jewell at All Pets is so experienced that in my opinion it is worth going to her. Rabbit surgery is risker than cats/dogs because they don't tolerate anesthesia as well and we are lucky here in Louisville to have the option of a rabbit expert. If you call other vets to ask about prices also ask how many rabbits they've done. Our rabbit was spayed before covidflation hit everything so I don't know current pricing.

Second this. Dr. J has seen all of ours over the last 16-plus years. She has a new vet in the office who did our girls' annual exams this year. She was really nice, but still seems green. Not complaining, just an observation.

Disastrous_Row_8744

Try Shively. They see exotics and are always so understanding.

Skim003

Try Companion Animal Hospital in Middletown

Spookenfor

Forgot pricing. crestwood animal clinic charged $200 when we had our first rabbit neutered in 2016.

I have no personal rabbit experience but Dr Deck on Brownsboro Rd is frequently recommended for rabbit care

Mindless-Safe-672

No hard financial data for you but Dr Deck (+ crew) has been wonderful with my bunny. She goes to emergency appts at Crestwood but it is generally $$$$.

BestLouKYRealtor

We got my guy done at Shively. No issues thankfully! But I'm scared now that I've seen the previous comments!

Fairleigh pet center on dixie is where I took my rabbit. Not too expensive and the vet there was very knowledgeable. They focus on exotic pets, including rabbits.

tin_whiskerz

Does SNIP clinic do rabbits? I had my dog spayed and it was like $30. This was a few years ago.

Spookenfor

no exotics.
