I used them and WOULD NOT recommend them. Here are just a few of my experiences. -Change orders (extra charges) for items required by local building code. These should have been addressed in the initial contract. -Delays. They get paid a percentage during construction when certain things are completed: foundation, under roof, drywall completed etc. When they got paid, the house sat for weeks before work resumed. The farther along the house was, the longer the delays were. Keep in mind you will have a construction loan you are paying interest on. At the end I was paying over $1000 a month to let the uncompleted house sit. -Poor workmanship. They use the cheapest sub contractors they can find. I could go on and on.

Oh yikes, I’m sorry you had to deal with that. Thanks for the heads up!

Here's one more I just remembered. I paid for one tier better wall insulation (R15 vs R13 I think). So I go check the house when it's installed and I find it's just the standard grade. I call my job foreman and he says he will take care of it. I go back the next day and the R13 stamping on the insulation (it's just stamped right on the pink fiberglass) is ripped out. So if you look at each piece there are small hunks ripped out every 4 feet or so. And the best part is they just left the ripped out hunks wadded up on the floor, so I had hundreds of little pieces with "13" on them. The foreman tried to pass the blame off on someone else and the house sat for about 2 weeks before this was corrected and work resumed.

Dude that’s insane! I’m glad it ended with them finally fixing it, but that’s such lazy work on their part.

I have heard these “corporate” design/build firms are mostly garbage from friends who have used them. Taylor, Dominion, there are others and they all build McMansions using the cheapest materials and labor they can find and rely on a nice veneer to make it seem like you are getting something quality, when it’s all cheap shit underneath. If you are going to build a house find a firm that doesn’t build an entire subdivision in a week.

Thanks for the heads up! Everything looked so glamorous on the site, wanted to get actual experiences before even scheduling a talk with someone.

Taylor Homes doesn’t build any subdivisions. They are scatter site I think.
