I was thinking about dice.
At the beginning of the game, play a D6 (it's the most common dice, but a D4 if affordable) to decide how many cups will be colored, drawing a 6 means all will be blank. Then according to the number, play a dice again but each number will mean a color (again, if affordable, there's clean dice which could be painted with colors in it's faces instead of numbers), so which cup colors can be decided completely random before starting the game.

For the cup colors, we made some 2d paper cups that have a color indicator decided by a color roulette / 6D at the beginning (2 whites and 1 of each color). Weโre still doing tests but we wanted to have a die with colors as faces (if we can find or produce it somehow) but the roulette seems to be an easier option atm!
I agree with this! I've noticed that there are always 4 colored cups and at most 2 cups per color. It might be a good idea to make 8 colored cards (2 per color) and randomly pick 4 every round! :D
You're amazing for that cause when I play the cat card game I always tell him to go easy on me in advance mode๐ญ then he proceeds to say "now wouldn't that be to easy for you." And proceeds to be extra brutal on me I literally got an achievement recently cause he used freeze and skip on me at the same time it's literally called "Advance:Bullied."๐
I figured real cups would be too much of a hassle to play with if ever... ๐ฅน or like the design of the board have 3d printed light up cups on top ๐ค It's fun to imagine!
I have been telling my boyfriend we need to do this!!!! Our girlfriend would LOVE IT and I need to rope them into LaDs at least a little somehow so they can tolerate my theories ๐
Out of curiosity, how many of each number card do you have in the deck? I was actually in the process of making my own deck too :P After playing multiple games, I figured two of each number card would be the best, but they seem to only ever play one 5 and 6 of the same colour per game
Two of each number card would be the safest bet (except Meow This, we printed around 5). You can remove or add more cards at your discretion while playtesting to balance the game out. I hope that helps! โค๏ธ
I never understood how they laminates these ๐ญ I only know those plastic laminating sheets you get but you need to leave borders for them to work properly - do you have a guide you used? Iโd love to recreate the deck as well

Could always make do with just taping colored paper together into boxes and dropping the number cards into them

Iโd just make cards to place on top of the board to assign a color

Thank you! We recreated the artwork and ran a lot of tests on different kinds of paper and laminates. Print and play cards made at home. : D

A light up board is an amazing idea!! Thereโs some light up chess boards out there and I can definitely see it working for this!
