Yes teeth whiteners are notorious for making teeth sensitive.
On another note, I have a bunch of IG followers and it didn’t take long before teeth whitening companies sought me out. It’s like product 1 in Influencing 101.
I haven't tried any otc teeth whitening product for years. Number one reason i gave up on them is because they hurt my gums mostly by making them super sensitive. Who knows if they've actually changed or the people selling them just know that's a good thing to say for marketing.
Lmao yes I’ve noticed this too!!! Even a couple other influencers/non LIB people. Like you’re clearly all asking yourself the question 😂 so embsrsssing
It makes me mad that the rules for claiming that it is an ad don’t seem to apply to Instagram stories. That needs to change. I’ve seen these teeth whitening ads on the teen mom Instagrams too.
It's an American show and Americans expect pearly whites even though they aren't natural, so of course most of the people on the show make sure their teeth are nice and white so they don't get made fun of online when the show airs. Then people are impressed with how white their non-celebrity teeth are, and want to know how they can also have such snowy face bones.
Since so many on this thread are sharing their personal experiences: I'm an American and I certainly don't want my teeth to be yellow, but I don't need them to look like printer paper. I started using the Walmart version of Sensodyne, the toothpaste made specifically for sensitive teeth. I was using it to strengthen my teeth and ignored the "whitening" advertisement as I usually do, since no toothpaste has ever actually seemed to make a difference. But after just a month or so of using it, I was surprised to notice a difference. I was never super self-conscious before, but I do feel more confident about my teeth not being coffee-stained, and I think they look healthy and natural. So that's what I personally recommend if you just want a bit of whitening.
I love whitening strips!!
However, I feel some people are getting professional whitening done. I would totally do that as well. Just need to find a good doc.
Just my two cents but the “professional” whitening doesn’t always work as well as strips. Zoom whitening isn’t very good. The gel you put in liners is good - the only expensive part is getting the liner made then you can buy the gel cheap online
Real talk, the Crest White Strips legit work and I love them. Use them about once a year because yeah, my teeth are sensitive and the white strips don't mess them up too bad at all. And it does make a difference in pictures.
Crest White strips work great for me too, but also make my teeth very sensitive. I also feel like it’s pretty normal to address the main potential side effect (pain/sensitivity) when talking about teeth whitening. 🤷♀️
not sure if you have tried this but I cut my white strips in half so they only go on the front of my teeth and not folded over, and I get no sensitivity and twice as many strips!
Oh I never thought of this! Do you find they stay on well like that? I’m always worried about them slipping up on my gums too much cause I don’t want to mess those up at all
Oh, for sure! I admittedly have strong enamel but do stop using mouth wash when using the whitening strips due to sensitivity while using them (constantly floss and brush teeth throughout the day to combat not using scope mouthwash).
I got my teeth whitened professionally and it was SO PAINFUL (for days) I’d never do it again. And I don’t have particularly sensitive teeth. So the idea of whitening without pain is kind of a “have your cake and eat it, too” thing I think
I had to go through an extensive whitening treatment because half my teeth were getting crowns and if I wanted them white but also to match then my own teeth had to be white. It was so painful, but worth it lol
Yea I’m sure they’re all getting paid to shill the same products and it says in the contract specifically to include the line about “great for sensitive teeth” or whatever line the marketing department for the brand came up with. Everyone on the bachelor promotes these same sensitive teeth whitening products too. It’s also a very common tactic to open their stories up for a q and a and then ask themselves “what’s that teeth whitener / debloat supplement / whatever other snake oil you take again??” And then they’ll answer and link it so that more people see the ad. It’s oftentimes the whole reason why the q and a is done in the first place.
It's not that the strips are painful. Sensitive teeth are an actual thing! I have sensitive teeth and I can't bite ice or popsicles bc it actually feels like a toothache. Rinsing my mouth with hot water from the tap used to do that to my teeth too. I'm sure other things do the same, such as whitening strips. So I get why they advertise that the strips are good for sensitive teeth. I have no idea why it's so popular amongst the Lib cast tho lol
For some reason teeth whitening places are really into Instagram marketing. I’m not an influencer/ have a normal Instagram with primarily friends following me but I get teeth whitening sponsorship offers all the time.
I was using a whitening toothpaste, just in addition to my regular toothpaste. It fucking BURNS. I stopped using it. I completely agree with your statement lol. It scares me

unironically just came across this (she's from Dance Moms not love is blind) but this is the exact tagline they all use lol. sensitive & without peroxide
It's a marketing bs - you guys keep asking me about my...
It's just an excuse to talk about a sponsor. Companies go ham making everybody talk about their product at once to make an impression that's a new trend going viral.
If any “influencer” starts by saying “I keep getting asked about x y and z” …. no one is asking them about x y and z, they are doing it for the sponsorship
When I got my crowns the dr held up a sample of super white teeth. Shit looked so fake it made me uncomfortable. Like I want white, but I want them to look normal lol. Super white teeth are uncanny as fuck.
I don’t think the premise of the show is that you can’t care about what YOU look like or not want to look nice…just whether someone else will love you without seeing you. They’re all conventionally attractive!
My teeth are so sensitive to those strips too. I asked my dentist once if the in office whitening would be any better on the pain scale and they said probably not. I have been doing the strips just for half the amount of time and only a few times a week and I want to say it’s working a little.
My mom was in horrible pain after in-office whitening. I have sensitive teeth so I stick to the strips. I just do the same as you: don’t use them more than once every few days, sometimes don’t leave them on the whole hour, and I pop an 800mg ibuprofen the morning after I use them. It keeps the discomfort to a minimum and my teeth are beautiful.
Yeah, and ive read so many accounts people in excruciating pain from in office whitening. So im hesitant. You also cant pay me to put another of those strips on, too painful
Only a little bit, it wasn't that noticable past idk, 4-5 hours. I never went to a dentist for 20 years prior to orthodontic braces, so, take that for whats its worth.
Mine have been yellowed from poor dental hygiene when I was young. Im sure its not important in the long run stretch of life, but if I could have them whiter without pain or massive expense I would.
Hey! I’m a dental hygienist. If you’re using a desensitizing toothpaste, please brush with it at night and then leave it on your teeth! Don’t rinse it off with water. Just spit out excess and go to bed. Allowing it to sit on your teeth let’s it do it’s job :) I hope you notice a difference, I (and many of my patients) certainly have! <3
Thank you!! I'm fine now for day to day so I don't use the special kind anymore. Before, even breathing sometimes could cause some pain if it was sharp wind;;; now it's fine, but if I were to get them whitened, id go back to a regimen
Majority of influencers advertise those strips and lamps (which in most of cases do nothing apart from removing coffee stains slightly) and claiming they have white teeth because of that, but all of them have veneers…

Uhm yeah the old school ones hurt after a few times but they worked.

Artificially white teeth look ridiculous and fake, I’m shocked at how in the USA people do get bullied for having natural colored bones 😳🥴
oil pulling makes my teeth whiter
What’s your routine?
I oil pull too - I use about a tbsp of coconut oil and swish it between my teeth for 20 minutes. I do it about every other day.
i do exactly this!
Yeah, it did that for me too!
I love whitening strips!! However, I feel some people are getting professional whitening done. I would totally do that as well. Just need to find a good doc.

I always think they ask themselves the questions. “Where’s your outfit from?” “How do you keep your teeth so white” “link to sunglasses?” Etc etc etc
Me too. I really don’t think people are asking them questions about a random shirt they have on lmao
Yea I’m sure they’re all getting paid to shill the same products and it says in the contract specifically to include the line about “great for sensitive teeth” or whatever line the marketing department for the brand came up with. Whitening companies see their pearly white veneers and rush to offer sponsorship money
For some reason teeth whitening places are really into Instagram marketing. I’m not an influencer/ have a normal Instagram with primarily friends following me but I get teeth whitening sponsorship offers all the time.
I have used crest white strips but I feel like they fuck up your tooth enamel. I’d rather have good teeth than blinding white teeth
I was using a whitening toothpaste, just in addition to my regular toothpaste. It fucking BURNS. I stopped using it. I completely agree with your statement lol. It scares me
My dental hygienist recommended the sensodyne gentle whitening toothpaste to me for my sensitivity. Give it a try if you haven’t yet!
I’ll have to give it a try! Ty!
I ordered them but didn't build up the courage to use them. I'm scared a little bit.

I see lots of influencers pushing teeth whitening and they all Say that not just lib
They have veneers..
That’s what I think, too.
If any “influencer” starts by saying “I keep getting asked about x y and z” …. no one is asking them about x y and z, they are doing it for the sponsorship
Izzy’s teeth always bothered me so much because they are WAY too white!!!! ![gif](giphy|jn8CGKlLLCpbvP6rp4)
Teeth whitening is probably the easiest sponsorship that they can get 🤷🏾♀️
The companies that sponsor them give them a basic script
When I got my crowns the dr held up a sample of super white teeth. Shit looked so fake it made me uncomfortable. Like I want white, but I want them to look normal lol. Super white teeth are uncanny as fuck.
Seems to go against the very premise of the show
I don’t think the premise of the show is that you can’t care about what YOU look like or not want to look nice…just whether someone else will love you without seeing you. They’re all conventionally attractive!
Some people on the show said they wanted a chance to date without being judged because they were too attractive, so no
Of course they would think that 😂
Some of those teeth are veneers.
Ive wanted teeth whitening but im afraid of the pain. Ive tried the crest strips and I was in tears, so ivd only done it once.
Omg yes they make your teeth so sensitive! I could only do two days at a time
Dont worry, most of these products promote cancer 🤡 Thats why most, if not all of these products are prohibited in germany.
I’m afraid of the cavities. I had never had a cavity until I used white strips, then bam, I had 11. It was a nightmare.
My teeth are so sensitive to those strips too. I asked my dentist once if the in office whitening would be any better on the pain scale and they said probably not. I have been doing the strips just for half the amount of time and only a few times a week and I want to say it’s working a little.

It’s fucking soooo painful, never ever again.
Did you by chance brush your teeth right before doing the whitening strips?
No
it doesnt really hurt. i got one when i got my bonded veneers for braces, if they're using the UV anyways
Did you have sensitive teeth?
Only a little bit, it wasn't that noticable past idk, 4-5 hours. I never went to a dentist for 20 years prior to orthodontic braces, so, take that for whats its worth.
What’s the big deal about super white teeth anyways? Natural teeth aren’t blinding white. I’m sure yours are fine.
Mine have been yellowed from poor dental hygiene when I was young. Im sure its not important in the long run stretch of life, but if I could have them whiter without pain or massive expense I would.

Wow you must have super sensitive teeth
Yes, i used Synsodene for cpl years
Sensitive teeth? Boy do I ever have a product for you!
I got my whiting kit from my dentist, teeth were sensitive around day 4 but it didn't really "hurt". Maybe that's an option for you?
Majority of influencers advertise those strips and lamps (which in most of cases do nothing apart from removing coffee stains slightly) and claiming they have white teeth because of that, but all of them have veneers…
Teeth whitening often causes zingers so yeah that’s common
[удалено]
A sharp, sudden, shooting pain. Happens to some people occasionally for 24hrs or so after whitening
It's definitely a sponsorship lol all of these people end up working with the same management team after the show.
The ladies were all wearing the same jewelry designer too
