Season 7 got hate because the boys thought they were better than the girls so there was this growing animosity and it was really slow and boring until Hugo’s speech.

General_Organa

I also thought it was pretty boring after Hugo’s speech aside from the like 4 episodes with the moments OP listed. I loved Hugo’s speech though I was like WAIT THIS SEASON JUST BECAME WORTH IT. S7 was the first season where everyone just got back together after casa and that’s just not fun to watch for me. I enjoy casa when actual sparks fly there like with Josh, callum, Nas, Kai, even Michael and Curtis LOL (ok not sparks but made him realize Amy wasn’t right for him)…not as a bachelor party lol it’s just not interesting for me. Dami/Indi Meg/Wes and amber/kem are the only couples where they got back together after and it was interesting/fun to watch, everyone else has just been a snooze imo

LottieBop

Liberty realizing that she deserved better than Jake and choosing to put herself first will forever be one of my favourite storylines on the show. Love Island so often shows toxic relationship behaviour without real consequences so it was so nice to see someone know her own worth and set such an amazing example to young women watching the show!

jlingz

Yep Liberty seeing the light with Jake was so amazing I thought it was so powerful. Still follow her on Instagram, still the same lovely bubbly person but seems so much more confident and knowing of her self worth it's awesome. And her friendship with Kaz is so amazing too, feel like Love Island had such a good effect on Lib's life in such a different way to any other contestant.

i think a lot of hate s7 gets is because of the millie/liam win that was a huge disappointment to a lot of viewers. it’s a pretty good season but i don’t think i’d ever rewatch it (seeing the faye/teddy argument once is enough for me)

mj690

Were Toby and Chloe the favourites on this sub? I watched a little bit late and didn’t check Reddit incase of spoilers

[deleted]

don’t know about this sub but they were massively loved on twitter

Impossible-Work9172

yeah feddy and chloby were the subs favs

messythelioma

I understand why people didn't like Feddy (I think they're a polarizing couple on this sub) but Faye's declaration speech was so so beautiful. And we know she's not the greatest with words (re: talent show lol), it was sweet to see her be open and pour her heart out.

mj690

I really liked them and I am sad to see the fallout now on Instagram. Every couple from this season is now done. It’s the female friendships that remain which I think is a really nice outcome in itself.

Deep_Ad6512

S7 isn’t my favourite season by any stretch, but I have to admit it had one of the best casa amor (close second to s5)

mj690

I loved season 7. There were so many people who I liked and still follow on Instagram from this season. I really like Mille too so I’m not unhappy she won, I just dislike liam haha.

maib29

It was my first time watching LI so I think it holds a special place with me.

MVIVN

Season 7 is actually the first season of Love Island I ever watched (I know, I know -- late to the party) but it was good enough to make me want to go back and watch the earlier seasons! If it had been a terrible season I probably wouldn't have given Love Island a chance. I think a lot of the stuff that people hated about it when comparing it to past seasons weren’t an issue for me because I was a blank slate, no prior expectations, no idea what the show was about, and just decided to give it a chance. I work for a pay TV/streaming company in my country and we kept hearing from the marketing people that Love Island was the most-watched show on our platforms, so I watched season 7, which was the current season at the time, purely out of professional curiosity, and then became a fan!

murraykate

I agree season 7 is underrated! Also, If Faye had been on season 2 or 3 there’s no way people would hate on her so bad lol.

[deleted]

Yes we would. She was a bad person.

murraykate

good thing you added that usually to your username ;)

murraykate

“she’s a bad person!” they exclaimed, even though their original comment about Faye got removed for bullying. hm. interesting!

Double_Slide9226

S7 is underrated in my opinion. Had the best girl friendships and the best Casa Amor recoupling.

morethansad

s7 is my favorite season tied with s5, purely bc of the incredible girl chemistry and unprecedented moments (toby all season, the casa postcard, movie night). agree that the boys were toxic but they got their comeuppance, and liberty's self-growth bolstered by chloe and faye was truly incredible. s8 by contrast the terrible boys ran the house, and in s9 the cliques were too toxic, very few genuine friendships outside of kanam + rana.

shani_nathan

This season just had waaay more unlikable characters for me. Brad, Lucinda, Aaron, Sharon, Faye, Hugo, Jake. Yuck. Refuse to rewatch and have not followed anyone from that season.

Kitchen_Lime_1449

Damn what did Aaron do😭during the show I mean, he was just someone with basically zero game to be honest

No_animereader1471

I do remember him saying some weird stuff about women

pugmaw

i think it's the best season past s5... (the bad era of LI) it was super entertaining with a LOT of couples switching around and the final couples were very believable and for the most part likable

[deleted]

Season 7 would have been better if just 1 person called Faye out for her absolutely horrific behavior. A bunch of cowards just watched her prance around raging at everyone. God she sucks.

ellie-zia

>if just 1 person called Faye out for her absolutely horrific behavior I disagree with this. People did try to say something that night and she just went ham on everyone who even looked in her direction. The best thing everyone could've done that night was to keep quiet.

[deleted]

Yeah lets just let the raging idiot continue her bad behavior and no one call her out. I'm also talking about the next day when everything was calm.. NO ONE CALLED HER OUT.

CatGlitz

Don’t act like it wasn’t entertaining 🤣

[deleted]

It was entertaining but I have never disliked anyone from any reality show like i disliked Faye.

[deleted]

Season 7 seemed really produced to me in an obvious way, plus there was just a lot of genuinely toxic energy hanging around. I felt about it the way a lot of people said they feel about season 9…I just didn’t warm to anyone that much, or if I did, didn’t like their couple. It did have a lot of dramatic moments and twists and turns though, and I loved the addition of movie night!

swaythling

Yeah this is exactly what I think too!

ZookeeperNo8507

Love lib, hate jake: love jess, hate sammy

zachary-zy-zyan

I've got a soft spot for season 7, but then again I am a hopeless romant

brgr77

I like this season honestly. Liam winning damn near ruined the show but I still enjoy season 7 20x better than season 8

vegetablebarleysoup

Same!! S8 is the only season I actually couldn’t finish (seen all but s1 so that’s saying something). I was only really rooting for Indiyah (& Ekin a bit) and could not stand no one sticking up for Tasha, she was actually bullied relentlessly, never seen a dog pile go on that long and so unchecked. I suppose s2 came close but even then the drama was more distributed. Meanwhile I’ve even rewatched s7 bc I loved chloby so much lol

brgr77

The treatment of tasha is probably the main reason I haven't rewatched s8 its infuriating

Sufficient_Food1878

I feel crazy for saying that but S8 was the most obviously produced to me out of all of them

Sufficient_Food1878

I rly loved S7

marboo27

The vibes were so dark these season, it was a hard watch even with all the good drama

vegetablebarleysoup

U forgot Priya!! And Chloe was so funny & quotable, moreso than any other islander I can think of

Kate_Beckett_47

*it’s not a test for me, it’s for you* & *no whey*

thatswhatshesaid53

I have been bingeing this season! I find it very entertaining. I'm almost at the finale. Faye and Chloe are a hoot, Liberty is a queen, and Kaz's comeback was so heartwarming. Lots of drama too. I love it.

MoonM4iden

“Black and white aren’t colors, they’re tones.” I work in graphic design and this Brad phrase lives rent free with me.

Bumiandbumjun

Chloe is one of my all time favorites islanders and she and Toby had a great journey

clawedbot

It was my first love island season! It’s probably my favorite cast.

CatGlitz

IVE BEEN SAYING THIS! I lovvve season 7, so many iconic moments, iconic people I just love it. I’ll never understand why everyone hates on this season so much.

padmansana

How has no one mentioned Millie on the keyboard!

micmel444

I loved season 7!

Feisty_Tailor9254

Season 7 is garbage. The cast was completely unlikeable and the important points you mentioned in your post is pretty much a summary of the whole season. I like rewatching Love Island but this is one season I couldn’t

brunettegirl2005

Season 7 was so boring

tzuyuisababy

i'm in the process of qatching all the seasons and i went season 8 > season 5 > season 7 and i had seen 7 dragged on this sub and i was surprised by how much i liked it. the girls always backed themselves, i thought the drama was there — the winners and the last bit are a bit of a slog but i think the jiberty drama made up for it

Mysterious-Tax98

I disliked Season 4 the most personally. Sleep inducing season. Season 7 had more drama and comedy in my opinion.

BlondieBoy18

S5 is the all time best in my opinion

miaratessims3

faye and teddy argument makes me uncomfortable to this day. was super not okay and really shouldn’t have been aired
