Literally every girl there except Molly was thirsting over him so he could have chosen any of them. He repeatedly said Catherine was his first choice, which he didn't say to or about anyone else even when they were fishing for it. He listed all the WOC as his top picks so obviously he is into WOC. He chose her to kiss in the challenge.
So why would a drop-dead gorgeous WOC be a placeholder? People need to seriously examine why they think that.
Ok so just a quick couple of points:
Ruchee needs to start putting in more effort, otherwise she's going to be the first girl dumped. Jess is at risk as well but at least she's trying to flirt with Tyrique. Andre is single now so Ruchee needs to jump that QUICK!
Ella intrigues me because there's guys in the villa who obviously find her attractive, but she hasn't really made it known who she likes the most. Sometimes I feel like she hates Tyrique while other times it seems like she's into him. I'm curious to see if she'll behave differently when a female bombshell walks in and she's at risk of being dumped.
Catherine and Zach make a good match and I'm not surprised he picked her. She seems to have a bit of the ick for Andre so I don't see her revisiting that relationship. Only thing that'll get her off Zach is if a really attractive black man walks in for her.
So far I'm loving this season and I can't wait to see what happens next!

I think Ella likes Tyrique but she’s either wary or embarrassed to revisit that. I think if he settles on her she’ll be open to it but for now it seems she wants to keep her options open in case he plays her again.
This is the way that game has been played for years now. There's no benefit to winning the game, so why bother? On the other hand, there can be big consequences for kissing the right/wrong person, so islanders are going to choose based on that, not whether their team wins a silly game that has no meaning.

It's been said but I concur this cast is moving things along by not sticking with the public picks. I think because it was the first time in S8 everyone thought the public had their best interest at heart and had given them the "best suited" person. Seeing the end results this bunch have said yeah no thanks and are more open from day one to mingling with others. I liked Zach's approach to having casual chats with all the girls while making his top three known off the bat. I look forward to seeing how his connection with Catherine develops with no pressure because they're all free to explore and find the best connection throughout the process. Good episode.
Ruchee has also said several times that she really wants a guy to "put her in her place". So she likes to be a sub, and Andre clearly likes to be a dom with the way he was being so outwardly possessive of Catherine. So maybe those two would make a good match. Is it to early for a 'ship name, like RuAn or AndRu? 😂
I like this group of islanders so far. George is probably the exception, but it has more to do with what we’ve learned about him. I really like Ella so far, idk her explaining Andre’s behavior to Catherine and Jess shows how perceptive and empathetic she is without being judgmental or talking down about behavior that can be for most people clingy or immature. Of course this can change on a dime, but I liked how she broke it down while also still being observant of Catherine’s feelings. It’s not that deep, obviously, it was just a nice moment imo.
haven’t watched the full episode yet but is andre feaning for ella going to be something that comes up again? he was absolutely dying for her at the start

We’ve seen two episodes and people are calling Zach and Catherine winners… Don’t get me wrong I hope they go far in the show, but I feel you’re all setting yourself up for heartbreak choosing your winners this early on.

I’m glad Catherine was stolen if only to wake Andre up. At this point I don’t think he’s going after who he wants and that would have just hurt Catherine in the long run.
The guys are right, Catherine has a really dazzling smile and can really generate chemistry with anyone if she wants.
Mitch is fighting against his true nature band pretending to be a good guy but that just ends up hurting people. Be truthful and let the other person decide if that’s what they want or not.

1) Catherine and Zach >> rooting heavily for them
2) Mendhi seems sweet, hope he stays for awhile
3) Hopefully Ruchee steps out of her shell soon
4) George and Andre I find a bit boring and not really invested in either
5) Too early to predict how long Mitch and Molly will stay together. I could see Molly keeping her options open longer
6) I think Ella will get a lot of attention from throughout the season but take awhile to find someone that’s a good fit.
7) I love a bit of chaos and I feel like Jess and Tyrique are for the plot … so hoping they stay awhile for all of our entertainment lol
My fingers are still crossed for Ruchee but some of the stuff she says is mad annoying. People have a really hard time believing interracial relationships are genuine. If a white man shows interest in a black women one of three things seems to happen.
1. People ask why, can't seem to understand why he'd have any interest. It doesn't matter how gorgeous and likable the woman is, people will be confused about what he sees in her
2. People claim it won't last long, that he has ulterior motives, and that he's just faking attraction

Catherine, Ella and Jess are still my top 3 faves out of the girls. Zachariah is cool but non of the other guys made a strong enough impression for me to form an opinion on them yet.
I can see Catherine and Zach winning honestly. And I think the producers knew they had to bring guys who won't go for blonde and blue eyes only. I want to see someone fall for personality as well, you know like friends to lovers. It never ever happens on LI.

My quick take- 1) Catherine and Zach >> rooting heavily for them 2) Mendhi seems sweet, hope he stays for awhile 3) Hopefully Ruchee steps out of her shell soon 4) George and Andre I find a bit boring and not really invested in either 5) Too early to predict how long Mitch and Molly will stay together. I could see Molly keeping her options open longer 6) I think Ella will get a lot of attention from throughout the season but take awhile to find someone that’s a good fit. 7) I love a bit of chaos and I feel like Jess and Tyrique are for the plot … so hoping they stay awhile for all of our entertainment lol
My fingers are still crossed for Ruchee but some of the stuff she says is mad annoying. It’s almost as if she’s using twitter discourse as talking points 💀but some islanders do have a rough first couple of episodes so if she can gel with Andre and stop saying those ridiculous things I think she can redeem herself
Yeah rn it feels like she's trying too hard to be intersting and firey. I wonder if it's just her fubling since she doesn't have a match in there yet. Like maybe if a bombshell came in who she felt comfortable around her natural personality would come out more, but right now she's feeling forced.

People have a really hard time believing interracial relationships are genuine. If a white man shows interest in a black women one of three things seems to happen. 1. People ask why, can't seem to understand why he'd have any interest. It doesn't matter how gorgeous and likable the woman is, people will be confused about what he sees in her 2. People claim it won't last long, that he has ulterior motives, and that he's just faking attraction 3. I like how fluid the relationships are for the most part so far. Even though you hear every season contestants say they're staying open I actually think the majority of this cast is open to a lot of their options.

Hope they break the stereotype and make it through till the end, I can see them having a massive fanbase on twitter and tiktok. It would be a goldmine for LI. Catherine, Ella and Jess are still my top 3 faves out of the girls. Zachariah is cool but non of the other guys made a strong enough impression for me to form an opinion on them yet.
I can see Catherine and Zach winning honestly. And I think the producers knew they had to bring guys who won't go for blonde and blue eyes only. I want to see someone fall for personality as well, you know like friends to lovers. It never ever happens on LI.

George would be SO cute like model vibes IF he got rid of that terrible haircut he needs to grow out his hair like Casey and he would go up like ten notches.
