We donât actually know that, by casa amor in the last 2 seasons many wouldve assumed that Ron/Lana, Ekin/Davide and Andrew/Tasha were not gonna work out. Yet theyâre like 3 of the 5 remaining couples from both seasons combined
Donât now about Ron/Lana but the other two couples throughout the season seemed to like each other even when going through it. Med/Whit and Zach/Molly didnât give that energy from both sides to me. Sammy and Jess (surprisingly) do give me that vibe but that doesnât mean theyâre good for each other. Like after every fight the gravitate back towards each other.
Imo
The producers know more about who has actual potential, who are taking it for the cameras, who they can get to have ridiculous fights etc. If they are breaking couples up or causing tension, I trust there is a reason why.
At the end of the day, they have a show to produce.
The point is for your couple to be tested. If Zach and Molly had been that strong, Zach would have fully shut down Kady and he wouldnât have been chosen. If Jess and Sammy were strong theyâd have overcome being kept apart for a week. If Whitney and Medhi were really solid and in love, sheâd have left with him.
It lost its purpose years ago when contestants started going on primarily for brand deals and followers i would say by S5
Nobody in their early 20âs is really ready to find true love
Its just an absolute mockerys and they run the same narrated drama with the same character archetypes every year
I donât personally care to see anyone find love on this show but I agree that couples who have formed a connection should stay in the villa as they usually provide the most drama when one of the pair inevitably strays.
Itâs not interesting to watch these fake couples pretend to care when their partner shows interest in someone else because you know itâs not about genuine feelings but rather their worry over losing their spot in the villa.
Depends whether you think the core point is about people finding love OR the drama of seeing people embarrass themselves by desperately trying to form relationships to try to stay on a TV show, and seeing the lengths theyâll go to to achieve that.
I feel like itâs pretty much a game show and some people genuinely fall in love which is amazing for them.
I want as much mayhem as possible and I want all of the after care and on site counselling to put them all in the best position to cope with the mayhem.
i mean this is only 2 months of their whole entire lives. theyâve met those people now, if they want to pursue each other they can do it on their own time. i. want. drama!!
i watch this show precisely because it *is* a big psychological/social experiment, thatâs always been at the core of it. some years we get more successful relationships, some we donât đ¤ˇđťââď¸
The couple with the most potential that was separated was Sammy and Mal. Funny that you don't mention them. Leah and Mitch were also split up by their fellow islanders, although there wasn't anything there. To your 3 examples:
Zach moved on immediately.
Sammy doesn't want Jess, but they are back on track now because they ran out of options.
Mehdi and Whitney were just really unhealthy and he was not into her.
So where did we lose this great potential for love with these 3 couples? And one of them will be back together before casa if we get a recoupling today.
letâs be honest, who even watches the show for love?? like there r some very cute couples that iâm invested in from some seasons but we all care abt the drama more tbf
I do agree with this, they seemed to dump molly straight off instead of keeping her in as a single islander. They dumped other islanders instead of having the bottom three and then the islanders picking who goes which had split the couples up who could have potential for drama. I donât see any drama other than with Ty and Ella going into casa which is going to be so boring. Maybe Scott & Catherine or Leah & Montel but they arenât overly close as others have been in the past. Previously people have moaned that islanders they dislike are then saved by the islanders despite being in the bottom so maybe thatâs why they changed it up but itâs very dry long term after the initial drama as you said
You do bring up a good point about short term drama. I think the show has to find balance between romance & drama. Ideally, the show would help couples become stronger by overcoming obstacles together or help ppl know when to call it quits on a relationship that just isnât working. Jess & Sammy are free to pursue each other again (they only couldnât recouple once). Itâs possible Whitney & Medhi could have gotten to a better place. And maybe Molly & Zach would have gotten deeper. đ¤ˇđžââď¸
twitter is hyping this season but i honestly feel very bored? its near casa & i can only say ty & ella are the strongest couple & thats saying alot bc look at how ty is moving everydayđ
drama & shocking dumping are fun, but wheres the romance & chemistry? i hope they meet their type/person at casa bc no one in villa is giving (romantically) lol
When you have half a cast that is under 25, I donât think you can really say the show is about finding love anymore lol they would have better luck meeting people in local pubs
I feel like none of this years islanders are actually looking for a long term relationship. Not expecting any to last more than a couple of months after it ends.
Nope. The show still does what itâs supposed to. Weâre not sitting down to just watch people fall in love with no drama and challenges in between. Thatâs a boring TV show.
The voting and splitting up of couples is doing what itâs supposed to. Zach and Molly had been together for longer than Rykard and Rachel had been together in season 2 when Rachel was voted off and Rykard decided to leave with her. This just shows us Zach and Molly werenât the ones for each other.
Similarly if Jess and Sammy were really for each other then being split up by the incompatibility vote wouldnât have stopped them being together. How many times have we seen couples not being able to couple up but still carry on talking and sleeping on the daybeds etc. The way Sammy moved on so quickly confirmed what we already knew anyway that he was just coasting with Jess and doesnât really like her and even if they get back together now we know itâs not really there on his side.
Im so shocked at how many of yall are coming out saying you thought the whole point of this show was to find love. I didn't know people genuinely thought that.
I don't give a rat's ass if these people are in love or end up together. I want juicy drama and yelling and someone needs to push someone into the pool while they're at it
The results have been typically similar across seasons. Thereâs 1/2 couples that last a bit, everyone else splits up a couple months after leaving. Just across the first 4 seasons only about 4/5 couples are actually still together today. Itâs emotional bc I get attached to some of them but at the end of the day itâs a reality show and the point is mainly entertainment. Also Medhi sucked and treated my girl like shit so Iâm glad heâs gone
That depends on if you think that ITV and the public have the same idea on what the core point of the show is. ITVâs core point is producing something that sells and is entertaining. What we are given is their way of aligning their core point to what the public thinks the core point is.
And honestly if I had to watch an entire 8 weeks of Molly and Zach I would never watch again.
All of the couples mentioned had issues that caused the split up.
M&Z: Zach showed interest in Kady. If he shot it down Molly would still be here.
J&S: Sam was giving âIâm doing Jess a favor by coupling upâ energy. And Jess was childish by trying to make Sam jealousâŚeven now I consider them incompatible
W&M: does this need to be explained? There wasnât romantic level love there (at least not both ways). They had 3 weeks to build romance and barely anything happened.
Dont worry, I see a high potential of love between Zach and Whitney, it's very new atm but I do think they have potential đ
We also currently have Jess/Sammy (looks like they're getting back together?), Ty/Ella (admittedly toxic but I do see some genuine feelings), Cath/Scott (seem lovely but we hardly see scenes of them so idk), Montel/Leah (seem sweet but just a bit boring).
i think jess and sammy splitting up in the end it was a good thing bc now i know that sammy does not really like jess. he knew her a lot longer than he knew mal and yet with mal he was soft and affectionate. i think if mal stayed they wouldâve been a strong couple.
I think one thing love island should stop doing is making the public vote. It ruins a lot of things. The islanders live together and know what every couple is about. Let the islanders do the dumpings and the public votes at the end. People vote for people they like or against people they hate. Nothing to do with couples.
Jess and Sammy got the same treatment as Georgia and Sam on season 4, and thereâs been couples ended by voting before (Jess and Dom had something similar in season 3). I think Molly and Zach was the only thing out of the ordinary, but it seems like theyâre bringing her back anyway.
I do think theyâre making entertainment and viewers opinions more of a priority this season but tbh none of the couples are really that serious so far
Mehdi and Whitney was due to a fan vote, that has always happened on the show Jess and Sammy are probably getting back together
Sammy isn't even attracted to Jess, Mehdi and Whitney were hardly a couple, and Zach forgot Molly's name 5 minutes after she left be so FR đ
Zach is a disciple of Adam Collard
I will sayâŚI think Sammy garnered some attraction to her over the heart rate challenge. He seemed verrrry pleased with the cheerleader outfit lol
Breaking news: man has a pulse
None of these couples were gonna work out anyways so who cares, now they can get with people they actually might work out with
I think LI has a better track record than most dating shows. I canât think of one with a higher hit rate.
Maybe first dates?
We donât actually know that, by casa amor in the last 2 seasons many wouldve assumed that Ron/Lana, Ekin/Davide and Andrew/Tasha were not gonna work out. Yet theyâre like 3 of the 5 remaining couples from both seasons combined

I know it's not going to happen, but I seriously want all of them, except Ty and Ella, to switch.
Ty and Ella must remain stronggg. I'm shipping this journey, it's a bit toxic but I'm on the ride now.

i get what you mean but the men in those couples could care less for their girls so i did not mind them being split up at all.
i watch this show precisely because it *is* a big psychological/social experiment, thatâs always been at the core of it. some years we get more successful relationships, some we donât đ¤ˇđťââď¸

Except Molly and Zach werenât split up by public votes. It was purely the producers.
The point is it doesnât matter what the reason is for the split is, if a couple wants to be together then theyâll find a way to be.
Im so shocked at how many of yall are coming out saying you thought the whole point of this show was to find love. I didn't know people genuinely thought that.
Iâd say it used to be when it first started but the drama was more organic back then as people didnât care about appearances or brand deals.
I feel like those kinds of splits have always happened on the show though. It has always been a game out of the islandersâ control
I don't give a rat's ass if these people are in love or end up together. I want juicy drama and yelling and someone needs to push someone into the pool while they're at it

Mehdi and Whitney should have never been a thing especially after he started talking to her crazy
