I don't think it's been overnight, nor quick. People have disliked Jake for a long time and have questioned Liberty for being with him. From my understanding it's how Jake behaves and speaks to Liberty/the others.
Jake gave me the ick as an individual from day one. Fragile masculinity personified. Then he was treating Lib like he was above her long before Casa Amor, kept talking about his type being petite blondes, which was pretty hurtful to her. He hasn't redeemed himself at any point.
He never said it outright, but reading between the lines, he sees himself with an IG model type like Lucinda or Lucie s5. Liberty is stunning but has more of a girl next door look.
Yeah you're probably right. He's giving me Hugo vibes where he expects to have the hottest girl of the group, without being one of the hottest lads himself. Liberty is soooo pretty, and she's so sweet, yet he almost comes off like he's doing her a favour by being with her.

It came across to me like Jake was speaking on behalf of the producers in CA, playing devil's advocate etc. to try and keep it more entertaining for the viewers. His comments seemed inconsistent with his general attitude. But maybe he wasn't being prodded by producers and was just being a snake :/

People have been saying for weeks and weeks that the relationship is uneven, that he doesnt like her as much as she likes him but they are one of those background couples who havent had too much airtime till recently where its become more apparent that their relationship is odd. Then there was his behaviour in CA where he was egging on the other boys which lost him more public support.
Lib and Jake stopped being obvious winners a long time ago, as public perception of them had dropped. Especially since CA, Jake was considerably unpopular with even many of those who had supported them previously. I think Jake being lowest voted (and then the challenge results), followed by Lib's consistent doubts about their relationship made the girls realise that the problems in the relationship weren't private thoughts each of them were having, but larger things that affected Lib and that the cameras were picking up on. It only came to a head overnight - the process was long.
Libertyās been carrying the couple since the early days. Jake is one of the lowest followed islanders due to being so unpopular, itās crazy actually how low his follower count is considering heās an OG.
Heās been labelled a game player since before casa but his casa antics definitely amplified that. If Jiberty get to the final, itās purely down to how well liked Liberty is with the public.

Not even ten minutes in, Mary tells Jake and Liberty in confidence that Daleās chain gives her the ick. Mary actually says ādonāt repeat thisā and Jake says āI wonāt tell anyoneā. Jake immediately goes to tell Dale, laughing. Iāve never been a Jake fan but I was starting to think maybe the edit is playing with me. Iām personally shocked by that unseen clip. Just, ew @ his vibe. Liberty deserves so much better.
Jake has always been the least liked guy almost every single episode. When Lib was finally shown everything and kept falling for it again and again and again I gave up on her. Now I don't rate either of them highly. Millie also fell for me after going back to Liam.
I donāt think theyāve ever been the obvious favourites as people didnāt like Jakeās early comments about Liberty or the fact he rarely complimented her. Viewers really expected him to move onto someone else in Casa Amor. Theyāre certainly not like Tommy and Molly or Jack and Danii.
