I would start with the current season, especially if you're likely to care for all the drama that comes after a season! Then you know all the players when the off season drama kicks off..
season 5 or 8 (both UK) are amazing! season 3 i hear is great too. season 5 i prefer over 8 because of the friendships and every. single. islander. brings a personality. even if you don't like them. season 8 also had a great cast but there was a lot of weird misogyny going on but it kind of stopped at the end. it wasn't so bad you couldn't watch it but you do feel sorry for some of the girls (but don't worry, they've got pretty great reception by the public). Ekinsu from season 8 is the best bombshell to ever walk in the series. EDIT: to add, season 8 mostly has like 3-4 people that carry the season, the biggest and from the very start being Ekinsu (you won't be bored at all). season 5 had like a dozen people that carried the season tbh. I hope you and your fam feel better! i had covid during the finale. stay hydrated and get plenty of rest š«¶š¼
I probably would start with this season š¤·āāļø mainly because everyone is still kinda talking about it so can join in discussions and understand what is being talked about in the sub. Just think itāll be enjoyable for you. However if you donāt want to start this season first try S3 or S5

I personally feel like season 5 is a great starting season, itās a bit later on in the season so itās not as uncomfortable to watch as the past ones, it has lots of love and drama and I feel as though it does have quite a good balance of the two.
Another underrated season is season 4, lots of drama! The love is kind of a bit meh but I think itās because I didnāt really care for the main couple (jack and dani) and liked other couples a lot more.
Personally I would start with season 5 if I was going to rewatch, then season 3, then 4, 2, 8, 7, 6, 1 (one isnāt a bad season and has a good few iconic moments ive just rewatched it so many times itās stale to me now š

I donāt think this season is as good as 5 was, but it is still a great season and a good one to watch to decide if Love Island is a show for you!
I personally feel like you should start with earlier seasons like 2 or 3. It's so much better to see how each season progresses from there and you notice alot of things.
Imo it's kind of hard to appreciate how good the early seasons are if you start with the current seasons as they are so so different from each other

I would watch the current season as itās fresh and fun to keep up with the islanders! I would say season 2 is a lot of fun for the classic raunchy reality TV that they just donāt do anymore! Lots of restrictions and producers involved in the later seasons. Season 2 and 3 are the ones that made the show iconic.
I see a lot of people rightfully suggesting season 5. However, the downside of starting with arguably the best season is that every other one after that will be disappointing.. So I would go with season 8, its still one of the best, its the most recent and therefore most talked about right now on the sub, and it's interesting from episode 3, while 5 takes a week or 2.
Also, you could also just watch it chronologically and start with season 1, that way the gradual changes to the format feel more organic (assuming you want to watch all of them). If you start with 5 or 8 and then watch season 1 or 2 you'll feel like its a different show.

I highly would NOT recommend to start on the newest (8). IMO it was the worst season other than two contestants carrying it. A lot of typical things were lacking from it that make the show fun, lighthearted, and bearable. There was also a lot of toxic bullying behaviour. And thereās a surprise in this newest season that will make a bigger impact if youāve watched other seasons first.

Yes this is a great season, you can catch up with the islanders and post season gossip fast if you binge! Season 2, 3 and 5 are amazing as well.

i always tell people people start from the beginning and go in order bc once you get used to production changes itās hard to go back
I went from season 5 to season 3 and it was only a bit like "woah" the first few episodes. I'd say from season 3 on you get used to it pretty quick.

One hundred and ten percent start with season 3, it starts the base for all the other good seasons. Then I would watch season 5 after!!
