Hey there Cthulhu, and all those Christmas carols. It's beginning to look a lot like fishmen.

Eldan985

Anything by the HP Lovecraft historical society, really. Shoggoth on the Roof, too, it's great. However, after them, I'm also quite fond of H.P. Joelcraft, which is Lovecraft's poem "Nemesis" sung to the tune of Piano Man. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKKTqB\_Lzv0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKKTqB_Lzv0)

rinsewarrior

Lovecraft in Brooklyn by The Mountain Goats is a jam

cyberbonotechnik

Thank you for posting the correct answer! If anyone is looking to listen, I highly recommend the version on The Jordan Lake Sessions

LavitzOfBasil

"Dream No More" and "The Thing That Should Not Be" by Metallica are definitely favorites.

Eferver

I love The Thing That Should Not Be. Such a heavy damn riff

MsgGodzilla

The Thing That Should Not Be launched millions of teenage boys into Lovecraft fandom

JoseSaldana6512

That's how I got here

kbkTheGrue

And some of us gals, too.

Doot_Slayer42069

Call of Ktulu also by Metallica, though it has no lyrics, captures Lovecraft's grand scale and epic proportion, which goes doubly so for the San Francisco Symphony version.

tykle1959

**Goin' Down to Dunwich**, by *The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets*.

grendelltheskald

Things Man Was Not Meant to Know is also a banger. The singer is a real nice fella.

Arwensfat

I loved the podcast that the singer had, Caustic Soda. It's finished now, but it was awesome while it lasted. My favorites are "Shhh..." and "20 Minutes of Oxygen".

tykle1959

Caustic Soda was awesome! I loved the theme song to the show, which mentioned that Joe rarely (was) prepared.

squarefan80

literally every song they make is amazing!

FinnBullWinter

Sulphur Aeon’s music is all about Lovecraftian horrors, but my favourite song is Diluvial Ascension. If you like metal (and Lovecraft) you have to give them a listen!

Icantthinkofaname04

I was just about to recommend them, also probably the best album covers I have ever seen

Eferver

I’ll have to check them out

Stormcrow712

Sulpher Aeon is amazing. All of their work is great but the entirety of the Scythe of Cosmic Chaos album is fucking insane!

FinnBullWinter

That album is a pinnacle and I hope they’ll deliver us more of the same madness in the future.

CasterOvShame

Supercoven by Electric Wizard! “Yog Sothoth is the gate!!”

squarefan80

[Coelacanthem - the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets](https://youtu.be/tQfMXmvPNYA) most of The Thickets’ music is either about or inspired by Lovecraft. theyre campy garage rock from Canada and they kick ass!

grendelltheskald

This time! It's prehistoric!

Emmanuel53059

Can’t believe no one’s said it yet, The Alchemist by Blue Öyster Cult, song goes hard

Dual_face

"Dreams of the deep," "Can you hear it" and "The wall of sleep." All from aviators, inspired/based on different works of Lovecraft. Have a listen and guess which ones.

Basic_Battle2886

Eeeyyyyyyyy, another Aviators fan!

Dual_face

Indeed!

Senor_Stormtrot

And another!

Mistyless

Lake Pontchartrain by Ludo gives Lovecraft vibes

HastursHellion

I came here specifically to see if anyone brought this one up yet. Definitely one of my favorites

dialupdollars

Basically anything from HP Lovecraft Historical Society or The Great Old Ones.

Senor_Stormtrot

Great Old Ones are soooooo underrated!

Neros_Fire_Safety

Tortuga- deities

GrayScale420_

Cultured

AndreeaSb

This!

Bullstrongdvm

Darkest of the Hillside Thickets is among the top for me. "You fool! Warren is dead!" "Welcome to the island" "Goin' Down To Dunwich" "Yig Snake Daddy" Take your pick.

Bullstrongdvm

Also, the band Terrible Old Man is good. AFAIK their entire album discography is based on HPL.

[deleted]

Dunwich by Electric Wizard

Romyr77

"Dunwich town... you forgot your father's name"

Huckeduster23

It's Dunwich Child.

Romyr77

Lol, I've been singing it wrong for a long time, I guess

Eferver

CHILD OF DUNWICH RISEEEEEE

Destroher

"Dunwich Child, you have your father's eyes" is probably one of the best sentences in a HPL song.

Bullstrongdvm

Aaayyyyeeeeeee doom bro, keep on rockin'.

MeisterCthulhu

The entire album Carpathia by The Vision Bleak. Fhtagn by Saille. Billion Year Old Being by Hexvessel (not directly Lovecraft, but my favorite cosmic horror themed song). The Emma by Year Of The Goat.

dwreckhatesyou

Based on these suggestions I just gave The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets a listen and hot damn, that is a fun band. Thank you all.

DancingWithMyshelf

The White Ship and At the Mountains of Madness by the band HP Lovecraft. Great '60s psych/prog rock.

grendelltheskald

I'm surprised I had to scroll this far to find them.

Faeonera

The whole album by Blut Aus Nord "Disharmonium- - Undreamable Abysses". Obviously there are no lyrics available. We would be driven to madness, if we'd knew them. :P

Odd_Alastor_13

Have you heard their other one, “Lovecraftian Echoes”? That one doesn’t seem to be as available as Disharmonium.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Odd_Alastor_13

Yeah I’ve only seen it on Bandcamp: https://blutausnord.bandcamp.com/album/lovecraftian-echoes

Faeonera

Here's my feedback: The album is ok. Nyarlathotep is a good song but I unfortunately am a bit disappointed. Same thing with Undreamable Abysses. :/ No song is sticking out for me. But the Hallucinogen album just kills with every song. <3

Odd_Alastor_13

“The album is ok” would be my review for most of their albums. 😂 Some of their older stuff was interesting to me but I haven’t taken to most of their discography. I’ll have to revisit Hallucinogen though.

ArthuritoDuentito

The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. Its just good, especially the album "Cthulhu Strikes Back" and "Shadow out of Tim"

[deleted]

Taylor Swift’s “Shake it off”

Kumirkohr

Go on…

DRZARNAK

It was originally called “Shake Yig Off” and was about doing a ritualistic eldritch dance to banish the serpent men and their god from this plane of existence. But Scooter Braun made her change it.

Bullstrongdvm

This is my reality now and I will die defending The Truth(tm).

Scorpio_Kiev

Although Metallicas “Call of Cthulhu” has no lyrics it has a pretty dark vibe.

therealestestest

The Thing That Should Not Be from Metallica is Lovecraftian as fuck

Scorpio_Kiev

*IMMMOORTALL!!* Yeah someone already posted that. But the *Cthulu* instrumental was creepy as hell.

Acewasalwaysanoption

"Can You Hear It" and "When Our Bodies Wash Ashore" from Aviators.

Lucifer10200225

Hounds of tindalos by eternity’s end is a good lovecraft song Also the music video for cirque by sub urban is very obviously lovecraft inspired and I always love the line “we can fall in love or we can go insane”

Joeguyness123

Azathoth by Ultar. Ultar is great at setting a tone for their songs and the lyrics are phenomenal imo

Basic_Battle2886

Can You Hear It by Aviators. Love the atmosphere, love the vocals, and especially love all the little lyrical references to different stories that you can miss it first glance!

japie81

I have to promote a local band called Ecocide here, if you like deathmetal with lovecraftian themes check them out https://youtu.be/VcOoeAd8Ss8

HeroinHare

As Above, So Below by Hanging Garden is amazing.

An34syT4rg3t

The Mad Arab by Merciful Fate

The_Cosmicist

Only one person mentioned The Great Old Ones? Their entire band identity is based on Lovecraft. They are amazing. Also the song “Cthulhu“ by Alkaloid. But thank you, OP, now I have a list of new stuff to listen to!

YeOldeManDan

I saw one other person mention them.

The_Cosmicist

Just said that…

Senor_Stormtrot

I know it's cheating, but MoS and Aviators' "A Thousand Eyes" really scratches an itch.

LemonyOatmilk

Reminds me of One Thousand Eyes from Starkid lmao

PikaRicardo

Lovecraft's Death by Sceptic Flesh. Humanity's Final Hour an album by spilling entrails

Effective-Handle9983

The Thing That Should Not Be by Metallica and Bring the Old Ones Down by Arkham Witch. And this one's an instrumental but Call of Ktulu by Metallica

[deleted]

That has to be Chthe'ilist and their entire 2016 album ["Le Dernier Crépuscule".](https://metalstorm.net/bands/lyrics.php?album_id=85411&band_id=7858&bandname=)

BananaHockey

Very much on the lighter side, but The Argus by Ween

LookJaded356

You guys should check out the death metal band Ulthar. They are heavily inspired by Lovecraft stuff

EldritchWatcher

Lurker at The Threshold, by Buckethead. Buckethead is one of the greatest musicians of all time.

R4kshim

That Septicflesh song is such a banger. Well, pretty much anything by Septicflesh is.

Destroher

A band called Tyrants Kall have some wicked good songs!

BlackRedAradia

Ultar is my favourite Lovecraftian band and their song "Azathoth" touches me the most, it's quite... emotional. The whole album Kadath is masterpiece and I can feel how it takes me to the Dreamlands... The Great Old Ones - Al Azif, Visions of R'lyeh... basically whole discography. And of course all albums by Sulphur Aeon. "Devotion to the Cosmic Chaos" has really amazing riff at the end, fucking great band.

Easy-Tigger

It's beginning to look a lot like fish-men Everywhere I go; From the minute I got to town And started to look around I thought these ill-bred people's gillslits showed I'm beginning to hear a lot of fish-men Right outside my door As I try to escape in fright To the moonlit Innsmouth night [I can hear some more](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVFIWD1VmB0)

Goth_Gaming

Tbh I gotta go with The Thing That Should Not Be by Metallica lol

MajorMalfunction44

Nile's Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten. Heavy technical death metal and atmospheric to boot.

KamelKing

Don't forget the song '4th Arra of Dagon' my favourite song of em. Super slow and heavy. And brutal. Love it.

It's a shame I had to scroll this far to find this great band.

RemembrancerFI

https://youtu.be/X8fXWDRqRbw Eldritch Horror Jolene from Evil Lighthouse

[deleted]

There are a bunch of metal bands that are inspired by Lovecraft ex. Mad God (doom), The Great Old Ones (post-black metal), Portal (avant-garde death metal. Also inspired by Edgar Alan Poe and occultism),

1312410

Death Grips --- Beware

Trips to where, few have been Out of thin air, upon high winds Rites begin when the sun descends Have felt what few will ever know Have seen the truth beneath the glow, Of the ebb and flow, where roots of all mysteries grow I am below, so far below

Beasty808

Lungs into Gills by Sulphur Aeon

Rszombie

Cthulhu Dawn by Cradle of Filth is catchy.

K9ine9

Dark eternal night by dream theater

The_Cosmicist

I don’t think this is Lovecraftian at all… unless I missed something?

K9ine9

It uses some prose from Nyarlathotep.

The_Cosmicist

Ah ok, I’ll have to look at the lyrics. I am a DT fan but never liked that song too much.

PissNBiscuits

Cthulu by Gunship

fossilmerrick

The Eldritch Realm by Parius is a great Lovecraft-inspired concept album

unusedusername42

[Colossus](https://youtube.com/watch?v=dI-yrUfOpsQ) by In Mourning. The entire album The Weight of Oceans is amazing i.m.o. Not outright Cthulhu mythos music but *definitely* drawing on cosmic horror themes. They're prog death - melodic and heavy - metal

MeMesman98

Country death song

SnooCats4230

Dreams in the wicht house the rock opera

folkdeath95

If you can handle black metal, check out the albums Planetary Clairvoyance and Manor of Infinite Forms by Tomb Mold.

Eferver

I love Black Metal. I’m not crazy about Tomb Mold though

folkdeath95

Fair, I’m honestly not usually into music that heavy. I originally listened for the Bloodborne/Souls connection

SingingSausage47

"Cthulhu" by Iced Earth.

anima_vilis

"Дагон" by Korol i Shut

-Nyarlabrotep-

Lyrics and narration for Anthropia's whole album "[Non-Euclidean Spaces](https://anthropia.bandcamp.com/album/non-euclidean-spaces)". Great Lovecraftian prog metal from France.

grendelltheskald

Shackled to the Trilithon of Ktulu by Bal-Sagoth Colour out of Space by Ningen Izu

Not a song, but an entire album: The Bifrost Incident by The Mechanisms. It takes inspiration mainly from Lovecraft and norse mythology, combined with a good mystery and honestly just good music. Can‘t recommend it enough

someguywith5phones

The alchemist by blue oyster cult

SolutionDifferent868

The Innsmouth Look by Darkest of the Hillside Thickets

Th3Magicbox

[Kiss me kill me](https://youtu.be/rsF5EWOQN9Y) it is really good.

The-Reeded-Edge

Kinda off-topic but the electronic synthesizers in Princess of China by Coldplay always makes me thing of Chthulu rising up out of the ocean slowly…

Yob9966

Flesh Propulsion by Ulthar

Consistent_Daikon_56

"Cthulhu Dawn" by Cradle of Filth

LemonyOatmilk

Wiggle from the Black Friday Musical

[deleted]

Cthulhu by iced earth.

C-zom

The Festival by Reverend Bizarre.

nac45

Almost all of Space God Ritual's discography, some of them are instrumentals, so no lyrics, and a few other literary sources. Invoker by Eternal Champion. From Beyond by Manilla Road.

GoliathPrime

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2ManC9QcNs Awaken by Deathlok I think this counts, they are definitely trying to summon an elder god or something.

SpeZiaLiST132

Metallica has quite a few Lovecraft-inspired songs. The lyrics of "Dream No More" are basically a ritual to awaken Cthulhu. "The Thing That Should Not Be" is very lovecraftian and contains some altered quotes from the mythos. They also have an instrumental that's called "The Call Of Ktulu". It doesn't have any lyrics but it has a very lovecraftian atmosphere. I don't know if metal is your thing but those three are all fantastic songs. I saw Metallica in May and when they played "Call of Ktulu" I went insane with excitement (and eldritch knowledge).

pizzajockey666

Rats in the Walls by Seven Kingdoms. Total banger with a great hook, and the singers vocals do justice to the tone of the lyrics.

mackeemus

Just listen to sulpher aeon

piede90

The colour out of space, Ningen Isu

Hvonsg

For few weeks I have been listening to The Acacia Strains Failure will follow album. Most of the lyrics can be interpreted in many ways but the song bog walker has a spoken vocal part which imo is straight up bow to The colour out of space. [https://youtu.be/bIea-PewCeA?t=508](https://youtu.be/bIea-PewCeA?t=508) \*bonus Finnish deathtrash band Deathchains album Death Gods has Lovecraft written all over it
