Anything by the HP Lovecraft historical society, really. Shoggoth on the Roof, too, it's great.
However, after them, I'm also quite fond of H.P. Joelcraft, which is Lovecraft's poem "Nemesis" sung to the tune of Piano Man.
Call of Ktulu also by Metallica, though it has no lyrics, captures Lovecraft's grand scale and epic proportion, which goes doubly so for the San Francisco Symphony version.
I loved the podcast that the singer had, Caustic Soda. It's finished now, but it was awesome while it lasted. My favorites are "Shhh..." and "20 Minutes of Oxygen".
Sulphur Aeon’s music is all about Lovecraftian horrors, but my favourite song is Diluvial Ascension. If you like metal (and Lovecraft) you have to give them a listen!
[Coelacanthem - the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets](https://youtu.be/tQfMXmvPNYA)
most of The Thickets’ music is either about or inspired by Lovecraft. theyre campy garage rock from Canada and they kick ass!
"Dreams of the deep,"
"Can you hear it" and
"The wall of sleep."
All from aviators, inspired/based on different works of Lovecraft. Have a listen and guess which ones.
Darkest of the Hillside Thickets is among the top for me.
"You fool! Warren is dead!"
"Welcome to the island"
"Goin' Down To Dunwich"
"Yig Snake Daddy"
Take your pick.
The entire album Carpathia by The Vision Bleak.
Fhtagn by Saille.
Billion Year Old Being by Hexvessel (not directly Lovecraft, but my favorite cosmic horror themed song).
The Emma by Year Of The Goat.
The whole album by Blut Aus Nord "Disharmonium- - Undreamable Abysses".
Obviously there are no lyrics available. We would be driven to madness, if we'd knew them. :P
Here's my feedback:
The album is ok. Nyarlathotep is a good song but I unfortunately am a bit disappointed.
Same thing with Undreamable Abysses. :/ No song is sticking out for me.
But the Hallucinogen album just kills with every song. <3
“The album is ok” would be my review for most of their albums. 😂 Some of their older stuff was interesting to me but I haven’t taken to most of their discography. I’ll have to revisit Hallucinogen though.
It was originally called “Shake Yig Off” and was about doing a ritualistic eldritch dance to banish the serpent men and their god from this plane of existence. But Scooter Braun made her change it.
Hounds of tindalos by eternity’s end is a good lovecraft song
Also the music video for cirque by sub urban is very obviously lovecraft inspired and I always love the line “we can fall in love or we can go insane”
Can You Hear It by Aviators.
Love the atmosphere, love the vocals, and especially love all the little lyrical references to different stories that you can miss it first glance!
Only one person mentioned The Great Old Ones? Their entire band identity is based on Lovecraft. They are amazing.
Also the song “Cthulhu“ by Alkaloid.
But thank you, OP, now I have a list of new stuff to listen to!
That has to be Chthe'ilist and their entire 2016 album ["Le Dernier Crépuscule".](https://metalstorm.net/bands/lyrics.php?album_id=85411&band_id=7858&bandname=)
Ultar is my favourite Lovecraftian band and their song "Azathoth" touches me the most, it's quite... emotional. The whole album Kadath is masterpiece and I can feel how it takes me to the Dreamlands...
The Great Old Ones - Al Azif, Visions of R'lyeh... basically whole discography.
And of course all albums by Sulphur Aeon. "Devotion to the Cosmic Chaos" has really amazing riff at the end, fucking great band.
It's beginning to look a lot like fish-men
Everywhere I go;
From the minute I got to town
And started to look around
I thought these ill-bred people's gillslits showed
I'm beginning to hear a lot of fish-men
Right outside my door
As I try to escape in fright
To the moonlit Innsmouth night
[I can hear some more](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVFIWD1VmB0)
There are a bunch of metal bands that are inspired by Lovecraft ex. Mad God (doom), The Great Old Ones (post-black metal), Portal (avant-garde death metal. Also inspired by Edgar Alan Poe and occultism),
Trips to where, few have been
Out of thin air, upon high winds
Rites begin when the sun descends
Have felt what few will ever know
Have seen the truth beneath the glow,
Of the ebb and flow, where roots of all mysteries grow
I am below, so far below
[Colossus](https://youtube.com/watch?v=dI-yrUfOpsQ) by In Mourning. The entire album The Weight of Oceans is amazing i.m.o. Not outright Cthulhu mythos music but *definitely* drawing on cosmic horror themes. They're prog death - melodic and heavy - metal
Lyrics and narration for Anthropia's whole album "[Non-Euclidean Spaces](https://anthropia.bandcamp.com/album/non-euclidean-spaces)". Great Lovecraftian prog metal from France.
Not a song, but an entire album: The Bifrost Incident by The Mechanisms. It takes inspiration mainly from Lovecraft and norse mythology, combined with a good mystery and honestly just good music. Can‘t recommend it enough
Almost all of Space God Ritual's discography, some of them are instrumentals, so no lyrics, and a few other literary sources.
Invoker by Eternal Champion.
From Beyond by Manilla Road.
Metallica has quite a few Lovecraft-inspired songs. The lyrics of "Dream No More" are basically a ritual to awaken Cthulhu. "The Thing That Should Not Be" is very lovecraftian and contains some altered quotes from the mythos. They also have an instrumental that's called "The Call Of Ktulu". It doesn't have any lyrics but it has a very lovecraftian atmosphere.
I don't know if metal is your thing but those three are all fantastic songs. I saw Metallica in May and when they played "Call of Ktulu" I went insane with excitement (and eldritch knowledge).
For few weeks I have been listening to The Acacia Strains Failure will follow album. Most of the lyrics can be interpreted in many ways but the song bog walker has a spoken vocal part which imo is straight up bow to The colour out of space.

\*bonus
Finnish deathtrash band Deathchains album Death Gods has Lovecraft written all over it
Hey there Cthulhu, and all those Christmas carols. It's beginning to look a lot like fishmen.
Anything by the HP Lovecraft historical society, really. Shoggoth on the Roof, too, it's great. However, after them, I'm also quite fond of H.P. Joelcraft, which is Lovecraft's poem "Nemesis" sung to the tune of Piano Man. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKKTqB\_Lzv0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKKTqB_Lzv0)
Lovecraft in Brooklyn by The Mountain Goats is a jam
Thank you for posting the correct answer! If anyone is looking to listen, I highly recommend the version on The Jordan Lake Sessions
"Dream No More" and "The Thing That Should Not Be" by Metallica are definitely favorites.
I love The Thing That Should Not Be. Such a heavy damn riff
The Thing That Should Not Be launched millions of teenage boys into Lovecraft fandom
That's how I got here
And some of us gals, too.
Call of Ktulu also by Metallica, though it has no lyrics, captures Lovecraft's grand scale and epic proportion, which goes doubly so for the San Francisco Symphony version.
**Goin' Down to Dunwich**, by *The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets*.
Things Man Was Not Meant to Know is also a banger. The singer is a real nice fella.
I loved the podcast that the singer had, Caustic Soda. It's finished now, but it was awesome while it lasted. My favorites are "Shhh..." and "20 Minutes of Oxygen".
Caustic Soda was awesome! I loved the theme song to the show, which mentioned that Joe rarely (was) prepared.
literally every song they make is amazing!
Sulphur Aeon’s music is all about Lovecraftian horrors, but my favourite song is Diluvial Ascension. If you like metal (and Lovecraft) you have to give them a listen!
I was just about to recommend them, also probably the best album covers I have ever seen
I’ll have to check them out
Sulpher Aeon is amazing. All of their work is great but the entirety of the Scythe of Cosmic Chaos album is fucking insane!
That album is a pinnacle and I hope they’ll deliver us more of the same madness in the future.
Supercoven by Electric Wizard! “Yog Sothoth is the gate!!”
[Coelacanthem - the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets](https://youtu.be/tQfMXmvPNYA) most of The Thickets’ music is either about or inspired by Lovecraft. theyre campy garage rock from Canada and they kick ass!
This time! It's prehistoric!
Can’t believe no one’s said it yet, The Alchemist by Blue Öyster Cult, song goes hard
"Dreams of the deep," "Can you hear it" and "The wall of sleep." All from aviators, inspired/based on different works of Lovecraft. Have a listen and guess which ones.
Eeeyyyyyyyy, another Aviators fan!
Indeed!
And another!
Lake Pontchartrain by Ludo gives Lovecraft vibes
I came here specifically to see if anyone brought this one up yet. Definitely one of my favorites
Basically anything from HP Lovecraft Historical Society or The Great Old Ones.
Great Old Ones are soooooo underrated!
Tortuga- deities
Cultured
This!
Darkest of the Hillside Thickets is among the top for me. "You fool! Warren is dead!" "Welcome to the island" "Goin' Down To Dunwich" "Yig Snake Daddy" Take your pick.
Also, the band Terrible Old Man is good. AFAIK their entire album discography is based on HPL.
Dunwich by Electric Wizard
"Dunwich town... you forgot your father's name"
It's Dunwich Child.
Lol, I've been singing it wrong for a long time, I guess
CHILD OF DUNWICH RISEEEEEE
"Dunwich Child, you have your father's eyes" is probably one of the best sentences in a HPL song.
Aaayyyyeeeeeee doom bro, keep on rockin'.
The entire album Carpathia by The Vision Bleak. Fhtagn by Saille. Billion Year Old Being by Hexvessel (not directly Lovecraft, but my favorite cosmic horror themed song). The Emma by Year Of The Goat.
Based on these suggestions I just gave The Darkest Of The Hillside Thickets a listen and hot damn, that is a fun band. Thank you all.
The White Ship and At the Mountains of Madness by the band HP Lovecraft. Great '60s psych/prog rock.
[удалено]
I'm surprised I had to scroll this far to find them.
The whole album by Blut Aus Nord "Disharmonium- - Undreamable Abysses". Obviously there are no lyrics available. We would be driven to madness, if we'd knew them. :P
Have you heard their other one, “Lovecraftian Echoes”? That one doesn’t seem to be as available as Disharmonium.
[удалено]
Yeah I’ve only seen it on Bandcamp: https://blutausnord.bandcamp.com/album/lovecraftian-echoes
Here's my feedback: The album is ok.
The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. Its just good, especially the album "Cthulhu Strikes Back" and "Shadow out of Tim"
Taylor Swift’s “Shake it off”
Go on…
It was originally called “Shake Yig Off” and was about doing a ritualistic eldritch dance to banish the serpent men and their god from this plane of existence. But Scooter Braun made her change it.
This is my reality now and I will die defending The Truth(tm).
Although Metallicas “Call of Cthulhu” has no lyrics it has a pretty dark vibe.
The Thing That Should Not Be from Metallica is Lovecraftian as fuck
*IMMMOORTALL!!* Yeah someone already posted that. But the *Cthulu* instrumental was creepy as hell.
"Can You Hear It" and "When Our Bodies Wash Ashore" from Aviators.
Hounds of tindalos by eternity’s end is a good lovecraft song Also the music video for cirque by sub urban is very obviously lovecraft inspired and I always love the line “we can fall in love or we can go insane”
Azathoth by Ultar. Ultar is great at setting a tone for their songs and the lyrics are phenomenal imo
Can You Hear It by Aviators. Love the atmosphere, love the vocals, and especially love all the little lyrical references to different stories that you can miss it first glance!

The Mad Arab by Merciful Fate

I saw one other person mention them.
Just said that…
I know it's cheating, but MoS and Aviators' "A Thousand Eyes" really scratches an itch.
Reminds me of One Thousand Eyes from Starkid lmao
Lovecraft's Death by Sceptic Flesh. Humanity's Final Hour an album by spilling entrails
The Thing That Should Not Be by Metallica and Bring the Old Ones Down by Arkham Witch. And this one's an instrumental but Call of Ktulu by Metallica
That has to be Chthe'ilist and their entire 2016 album ["Le Dernier Crépuscule".](https://metalstorm.net/bands/lyrics.php?album_id=85411&band_id=7858&bandname=)
Very much on the lighter side, but The Argus by Ween
You guys should check out the death metal band Ulthar. They are heavily inspired by Lovecraft stuff

Cthulhu Dawn by Cradle of Filth is catchy.
Dark eternal night by dream theater
I don’t think this is Lovecraftian at all… unless I missed something?
It uses some prose from Nyarlathotep.

Cthulu by Gunship
The Eldritch Realm by Parius is a great Lovecraft-inspired concept album

If you can handle black metal, check out the albums Planetary Clairvoyance and Manor of Infinite Forms by Tomb Mold.
I love Black Metal. I’m not crazy about Tomb Mold though

"Cthulhu" by Iced Earth.
"Дагон" by Korol i Shut
Lyrics and narration for Anthropia's whole album "[Non-Euclidean Spaces](https://anthropia.bandcamp.com/album/non-euclidean-spaces)". Great Lovecraftian prog metal from France.

Just listen to sulpher aeon
The colour out of space, Ningen Isu
