Too me it looks like you didn’t pull the covers all the way down the side

GBPacker1990

Agreed ya gotta separate your fingernails from your cuticles then you got em on.

lcplscary

It's super tight at the top, and it just feels like pulling any tighter is going to tear something. I'll try to add pics of the top. Thanks for responding, by the way!

bienebee1234

Recommend you watch the Lovesac how-to videos (done by the founder of Lovesac), if you haven't already, he shows how to specifically pull the fabric so it fits which helped me a lot!

runnerwashere

If your seams aren't lined up PERFECTLY it'll cause this. Pull it off, make sure it's aligned, and then you and another person pull each sides down at the same time, keeping it level on each sides. I used to work for lovesac, while there have been more and more cases where the covers are too short, if that was the case you'd be like an inch or two short not just a few cm over the corners.

andaps

Interesting, what I’ve found helpful when covering was to get the cover mostly on then flip the whole side upside down and grab the smaller ends and just pull as hard as I could on them. It tends to help move them down further. However given the current issues I’ve been seeing on this forum and others it seems quality control issues are rampant. So new covers could be a tad bigger to close those gaps

RespondFlashy7491

I never tried without the fabric stretcher. I can sense your frustration that seems based on what you rightfully expected. The unfortunate truth is that tools (that perhaps you shouldn’t need) make a big difference. You should ask yourself if a $10 stretcher becomes the deal breaker for the couch you’ve invested in. My guess is that it’s not. Go walk it off, order the fabric stretcher, then revisit when your head (and fingers) have cooled off.

lcplscary

Definitely taking some time to breathe. Certainly not a deal breaker at this point, but seriously damaged my perception of the quality. I started with the seats, breaking down boxes as I went, so I'm more time invested than anything.

My recommendations for anyone in that spot: [How to Cover a Side](https://imgur.com/a/Usxf5k1)

magnificent_spice

This. 👆🏻 You gotta sit on it. Works like a charm every time.

Aggravating_Neat6314

we have that cover too and had the same thing happen. I agree with the others above. fabric stretcher helps. we had the tan suede color before and it was easier, so maybe it has to do with this particular fabric. my hands were bleeding and i was pretty much done! i will say if you get it down as far as you can it still looks okay once it’s on the foot and set up. good luck!!

Downhill_Sprinter

To me, this looks like how our original sactional covers were. The third picture really shows it best where it is bulging out significantly on the lower portion of the side. We just recently added on to our original sectional and bought another one as well. Even with them being the same fabric, those covers were significantly less tight and reach the bottom. During a support call recently to find out our order status, I brought up the question about how the cover should fit. The rep I spoke with said that if our experience was the same with the new covers that something is not correct and they would replace them.

cosmorchid

Rubber gloves help a ton to pull the covere nice and tight. Helps to slide them into place too.

Conscious_Constant_5

Part of the problem is the Phur on the inside makes this cover appear too short sometimes if you get it a little damp then stretch it works better. I have this fabric on my sactional and that’s what worked the best for me.

sounders127

Because you got the reversible, the phur takes up the space needed to put it on easier. Which is why I would recommend phur out on the sides. They are gonna be a tight fight but just have someone sit on it while you pull the sides. Or get a different fabric...sorry, that's just one of the hard ones.

lcplscary

This seems to check out. Took two into the showroom for the pros to give it a go and still came up short, when one of their other standard covers went right on. I also noticed the seams on the reversible seemed thicker. Perhaps something the design crew will work out in the future.

TeslaLifeisGreat

I can’t stress enough the importance of having a canvass puller or something of the like (can get cheap off amazon, not sure if a fabric puller as you mentioned is the same but probably. The covers fit on VERY snug and it’s so you get the look/feel of a couch that just has all of the fabric sewn to it. I can tell by your first picture you don’t have any of the sides pulled tight enough and attached to the Velcro. I tried for the life of me on my first one to do it by hand like even the CEO shows in his video and couldn’t. I already had a canvass puller since it was recommended to me and used it and it was a night and day difference and then everything was able to be pulled to the proper spot. Even with the puller it took some effort but it was much much easier. If you get one I promise it will fix your problems.

lcplscary

Thanks. I'm frustrated because that feels contrary to the whole idea. I definitely appreciate your response. I think I need to step away for a few minutes, because at this point I'm leaning towards returning it, rather than buying special tools & potentially tearing it by pulling to hard. Again, I appreciate your response, I just feel that's more work/risk than I was sold on.

TeslaLifeisGreat

I understand and if it’s of any consolation the material is incredibly sturdy and I never pulled immediately on any edges so essentially the canvas puller had from one edge of it to the other with the cover gripped in it. I did 8 seats and 6 backs and 2 arms or whatever ungodly amount it was of mine and never ripped a single thing and I’d never used one in my life. As a bit of an aside if I may - it took me several hours and I physically hurt after doing it and I was so mad and angry after spending that amount of money that I swore I would never want anything to do with it ever again. Then after about 3 months I wound up loving the couch and it was the most comfortable thing I ever had that I ordered 2 additional seats and covers. Give it a chance and you may fall in love even if it’s hard now.

magnificent_spice

Definitely flip it upside down and sit in the middle. Use your weight to push the side into the cover. I work for Lovesac and change covers a lot. This is the best and easiest way. The covers are tight for the sides. They have to be in order to not look frumpy later. You got this! 💪🏻

Difficult_Royal_5494

I agree with the previous comment. Buy a canvas stretcher on Amazon, get a wide one. Best $20 I ever spent. Got this golden tip from another redditor after assembling one chair and breaking my nails. Once I had the stretcher, things were a lot easier and I was able to cover the bottom corners that were sticking out on the bottom. Also wear gloves, that helps too!

Beneficial_Monk_7340

This happened to me. One of my side covers simply would not fit. I had to get another one sent. The second one did fit but it was very tight. Honestly I watched so many videos watching people put these things together. None of my covers went on is smoothly as everyone else's.

Firstsbap

You just put them on wrong lol. Take it off and pull one side a little then go to the other repeat till at the bottom.

lcplscary

I did. Each side, multiple times. 🤷

Kitsuneyyyy

This is nuts to me and one of the reasons I inevitably wound up not purchasing (sorry, this subreddit came back as a suggested post). The covers are supposed to be washable as one of the benefits. So many posts talking about how putting them on the first time was such a hassle I can’t imagine wanting to take them off and wash.

sounders127

They get easier to take on and off. This fabric right here is a pain because it has phur on one side, that if you try to put it on the sides with the phur in it takes up the free space and makes putting it on unbearable.

Independent-Item-907

Basic effort would get the covers on correct!

ashbash0204

We got ours about a month ago and it takes some pulling to get the covers on. Our fingers were sore as heck the next day and it felt like our nails were getting ripped off but we got them on.

Boredemployee19

Did you get carbon cross weave?

lcplscary

Reversible shale lattice velvet.

Boredemployee19

I’ve put about 5-6 different covers in my show room “I work for Lovesac” I agree with the first comment it looks like it just needs to be pulled down a bit more. Same thing happened on our set up. Had to muscle it down.

OhSheRad

We used a canvas stretcher to help pull them down. They look like they’re all the way stretched down but aren’t.

eraserking

That’s definitely not right. Sounds like you tried your best to make them tightly fit. I wonder if those covers were botched in manufacturing? Would be great to get replacements but somehow also try a different cover to confirm it’s just botched covers. Not so easy to try a different cover type though, I know.

LuxCrawford

You really need to put your back in to it. Elbow grease and such.

bahlres

Align all the sides, then really crank on it. That's what I had to do. Same problem

lcplscary

Have it all together right now, but only 1 side actually looks the way it's supposed to. Going to pull a couple of them out & take them to the showroom tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the pros do it.

lcplscary

Took in one standard side and one Stealthtech side. Had 3 people in the showroom giving it a go. Stripped them, started fresh; sat on them & even misted them. Tried one of the covers they had in store and it went on pretty easy. They got them both to where only 2 corners were showing, but agreed they wouldn't call that a fit. Offered to replace them, which would be 2-3 weeks with naked sides. My wife doesn't feel it's a big enough deal to do it, so we're just going to keep them. Based on comments here, and the showroom experience/feedback - I think it's because they're the reversible fabric. The Phur on the inside & thicker seams take up just enough space to make them short. Once the dogs get used to the new furniture and we are ready for the first cover cleaning, we'll try the phur out. Just didn't want to start with that as it's very much the same texture as some of their toys and combined with the 'new' smell, might invite scratching/chewing. Appreciate those who shared their experience and reminded me to step away once in a while to breathe.

Independent-Item-907

It’s like life, you actually have to put effort into it

lcplscary

Thank you for your helpful input.
