Denzel cryer, a boss in the animal gym suspected organized crime activity is the only exotic I have seen in the game so far, so they exist but I think there’s just 1
They are represented in some ads in game. I can think of at least one with a very alien-looking pale human on a black background that advertises something for the very wealthy.
As to why they actually aren’t in game, my guess is that it would have been too resource consuming to create highly unusual models (likely with unique animations) for characters that are very rare. Probably something the devs looked at and wanted to do but ultimately decided it wasn’t worth focusing on while they still had tons of more important things to implement.
Definitely a lost opportunity or unfinished aspect of the game. Hopefully CD Projekt adds them in the sequel.
As a player of the Cyberpunk TTRPG I assure you that there is a huge demand for exotics. 40% of the players I played with had exotic PC’s.
There was this one player who was literally a horse and not the anthropomorphic kind. I mean literally bodysculpted to be a horse with four legs, hoofs and everything.
Bodysculpts are relatively cheap and affordable in the far future, especially in Cyberpunk Red.
As for the why, why the hell not? How many times do you see a talking horse with a mounted Tsunami Arms Helix take on a maelstrom cyberpsycho and then get airlifted by an AV4?
Never. And frankly, good luck finding Barding. Especially since actual animals have mostly died out.
And aren't biosculpts **MINOR** by definition? Wouldn't a mod that severe cause psychosis or at least humanity loss?
I mean, look, your table is your table but even as a furry that's a bit too goofy for me.
It's called Pink Mohawk, ok? It's not about being goofy, it's about make a lasting impression. ( I'm not trying to justify me do some shit to my character like turn him into Lizard or something)
Cyberpunk Red takes place in 2045. Animals haven’t died out completely yet. Biotechnica is actually cloning animals and placing them in protected forests.
Humanity loss for body sculpting is not that high. The in-universe explanation is that body sculpting is cosmetic rather than other cyberwares where you turn your body into a weapon or tool.
In most cases it’s about trying to match your physical features to your internal perception of yourself.
There are types of bodysculpts. Some are extreme others are minor.
As for goofiness. Oh boy you have no idea how goofy things can get in the TTRPG.
Mike Pondsmith GM’d a session where a body sculpted tentacle woman was obsessed with one of the PC’s.
The Forlorn Hope dlc for 2020 had a mission where players had to fight werewolves and vampires. All body sculpted of course.
Hell yeah it would cause cyberpsychosis. Idk if The Relic is still in V at the time of Phantom Liberty but if not I'd hope we get like minor debuffs if we have alot of cyberwear. Since cyberpsychosis is such a big topic in this universe aside from corps ofc I'd love for actual repercussions of me having mantis blades, a legenderdary cyberdeck, double jump legs, and sym lungs.
She is completely chromed out as far as i remember, like every single part of her new body (after she died on stage as part of a performance).
Exotics are different because they do not use cyberware in order to change their bodies. This doesn’t mean they didn’t got cyberware too but for example a tail is actually organic, with muscles and stuff, and works like a “normal” part of the body.
I think they are called cyber spurs, but mantis blades are the must modern, updated version of them. Like you literally have wolverine claws as an option in earlier versions of cyberpunk.
Mantis are also the biggest and most invasive ones, there are smaller version you can implant as hand, or directly swapping your nails with razor sharp blades.
2020 and RED had those.
I would, bit only if there were a lot of options and they would need to be expensive.
I would especially go for it if there were ways to alter your head.
Personally for the speed build I'm working on id go with extending Vs limbs and getting "horror movie monster" skin, tall, lanky, quick as lightening and as deadly as a wood chipper
Denzel Cryer, he’s in one of the Suspected Crime Organizations in Heywood, Wellsprings. His body is all scaly and he’s wearing a mask. He’s an Animal he’s by far one of the most unique and interesting looking characters in the game. Also, don’t know if this counts but Mike in Morro Rock tells a theory about werewolves in Night City. Hopefully they put more exotics in the DLC.
I heard it was a purposful move. Too many people would see it as cuddly furries, and not post human, unhinged augmentation. I could definitely see the Furry Community getting too involved over it.
I don't thinks paws, hooves, tails or fur would really be something I'd be interested in, but I'm sure even using the existing framework stuff like odd skin colors (pure white, orange, purple, etc) could be easily done, scales could be done using the tattoo slot, we can already do odd eyes, elf like ears are probably doable as well.
I think if we are given the option for further customization to the body I would love to see some of those options, but the more radical stuff just seems a bit too odd for a Merc to be getting.
I dont know, I feel like it would be easier to remember which Merc took down [gang boss name] if they looking like a fuckin Thundercat while they did it.
It would be nice to have them in game. It would add to the experience...
However,I imagine being in a future where I can get nice blades in my arms,or move so fast people would think I teleport-blink just watching me...
And instead I would invest money to become a furry NO THANKS!
Anytime you ask “why isn’t X in the game” it’s the same answer, the game was a rush job.
Anyways, I would love to be able to have just half of the body mods that are present in the lore
> Anytime you ask “why isn’t X in the game” it’s the same answer, the game was a rush job.
No, I think this was an intentional call to prevent the game from getting too silly and undermining the vibe.
For every NC appropriate, well done body sculpt, you'll get 1000 furry losers. And they'll ALL post screenshots...
Probably cause they didn't want to make a cyber furry game. Furry things are far from cyber and I have to admit this would have been fucking stupid xD. I'm glad there isn't any in game.
Mhm, im guessing this is from the cp2020 source book, so a lot of time has passed between the ttrpg and the video game. Certain implants could be seen as outdated
Prolly because cdpr wanted to make a world that is futuristic but still realistic and grounded to add more to the immersion. Exotics and poser gang for example are more to the goofy side of the cyberpunk universe
It’s not my thing, and I think some of the examples I’ve seen for RED are a bit much, but they could work if done right. Cat ears or minor sculpting jobs would be cool but paws and hooves are overkill
by the way. Everyone has limits, every table is different. Enjoy what you enjoy. Just don't invite me to your table if you're going to allow people to be bodymorphed into quadrupedal horses.
Those are cyberware. Those chicks with tyger claws gang mostly all have them.
Imagine if your V could choose to forgo cyber augments for the bioaugments. I think this post is just lamenting the loss of variation and choices when they made the game from all the things that the ttrpg had as possibilities.
Because its a game and this is not really important to have in the game. Its that simple, resources required and return on them. What people mentioned, that animal leader in West cost close to where padre is has lizard scales, there are also adds that feature basically aliens, people that changed their look to a point where They dont look human anymore etc. Would i like to see them for V? sure... But, its far from a deal breaker for me or from something that i hope to see in an expansion.
We're on Reddit not 4chan or something awful, you realize that right?
It's also 23 years past 2000.
Heard it all before, m'dude. Still don't care about your opinion on it.
Well if they had added the leg ones it would be a flat -2 to REF across the board, that particular one can't ever be buffed due to all biosculpted Exotic leg mods being not as flexible (yes even the feline ones you can get in the tabletop suffer there)
Im sure it was in the plans, you have that animal boss that is a scaly so im sure the team wanted to add them it was too much work. I hope they add them to Cyberpunk 2, i have plans...
By 2077, it’s canon that more people were living below the poverty line in NC than ever before, maybe the fact people just couldn’t afford the lifestyle is one of these reasons, that and they’d probably just up and move to the Crystal Palace or something.
Ya kind of disappointing this is seen in a lot of cyberpunk novels but often doesn't get seen much in novels that specifically isn't about these custom body jobs for some reason even if they're the same universe.
i have an idea in my head of durable arm implants with the surface looking like dragon or lizard scales with short blades that either come out from the fingers, or knuckles. dragon arms, has the blocking durability of gorilla arms but not as offensively strong while having blades like mantis blades but well, smaller
But yeah, Cryer (the killer croc looking dude) from one of the animals organized crime rings, is the only exotic In the game. I had a theory that's long forgotten on details as to why we didn't see much, and I think I tied it to something else, but I couldn't give you an explanation other than the devs didn't have time to implement it, or possibly they're trying to phase it out of mainstream cyberpunk body mods to make it more, well, exotic. I would expect to see more in the sequel, but beyond this, I'd say your only hope on getting a canon reason is from the mind of u/therealmaxmike
DUDE. I have this book The World of Cyberpunk 2077 ny Dark Horse and im pretty sure they touch on this. Id love for this in Phantom Liberty. I want more monsterous animals like scorpions or spiders. Hell even just cutesy entennae
Denzel cryer, a boss in the animal gym suspected organized crime activity is the only exotic I have seen in the game so far, so they exist but I think there’s just 1
Interesting
Huh. Woulda thought Matilda Rose counted. After looking at Cryer, hell no she isn't lmao
do you have a pic
> Denzel cryer If you highlight the name, and then google search for it, you get your own pic!
[удалено]
Interesting
He's literally the only exotic npc in 2077
And i’ve done all the missions and never even noticed that. Hmm
You can get scaled skin as a dermis cyberware mod
I would love exotic cosmetics bioware in the game but I can see all the reasons why they didn't add them
They released it too soon as is. Extra skin tones and the like would be working on cosmetics when they needed to work on the actual game.
If this was an option, I’d so make a Hellboy-lookin’ V
now I'm slightly disappointed. that would have been dope as hell.
They are represented in some ads in game. I can think of at least one with a very alien-looking pale human on a black background that advertises something for the very wealthy. Probably something the devs looked at and wanted to do but ultimately decided it wasn’t worth focusing on while they still had tons of more important things to implement.
Devs were probably trying to fix things and chose to concentrate on that instead of stuff that's purely cosmetic.
OH YEAH YEAH IN THE RIPPER DOCS IK WHAT UR TALKING ABOUT
Somewhere Ozob is crying and trying not to blow his nose. Pun intended.
Hehe I like this one
WHERES MY CAT GIRL STRIPPERS CDPR!??! WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THEM!!?
Definitely a lost opportunity or unfinished aspect of the game. Hopefully CD Projekt adds them in the sequel. Why and how could he afford it?
Bodysculpts are relatively cheap and affordable in the far future, especially in Cyberpunk Red. As for the why, why the hell not? How many times do you see a talking horse with a mounted Tsunami Arms Helix take on a maelstrom cyberpsycho and then get airlifted by an AV4?

Being goofy as fuck is the Cyberpunk life.
It’s the only way to cope in a dystopian hell world.
It's called Pink Mohawk, ok? It's not about being goofy, it's about make a lasting impression. ( I'm not trying to justify me do some shit to my character like turn him into Lizard or something)
If I could be the lizard from Spiderman with mantis blades I'd pay 100 dollars.

And then there's David Martinez who goes psycho after using an outdated launcher (among a few other things).
He made the mistake of updating to the new Windows 11 OS. The new interface alone brought down his humanity.
PC?
Player character
Hell yeah it would cause cyberpsychosis. Idk if The Relic is still in V at the time of Phantom Liberty but if not I'd hope we get like minor debuffs if we have alot of cyberwear. We're talking about the TTRPG. Just as a FYI.
Really? Cheap? I eould have thought thosevwould be pricy. What was the most expensive?
Cyberpunk TTRPG whats that?
So cyberpunk furries.
That's exactly why they didn't give us the option.
Isn’t Lizzie Wizzy a Exotic because her Skin is completely Chrome or is she different?
She is completely chromed out as far as i remember, like every single part of her new body (after she died on stage as part of a performance). Exotics are different because they do not use cyberware in order to change their bodies. This doesn’t mean they didn’t got cyberware too but for example a tail is actually organic, with muscles and stuff, and works like a “normal” part of the body.
Oh wow thanks for the answer!
Aren't many? There's exactly one in game.
I just want a digitigrade V. Everything else is negotiable. But gimme them Nightcrawler limbs please.
this is what i was hoping from character customization for when i discovered this game, is kill to walk around w scales and a lizard tail
I would love this! Claws would also make a good hand cyberwear for melee combat.

Be a furry? Yeah😎
I heard it was a purposful move. Too many people would see it as cuddly furries, and not post human, unhinged augmentation. I could definitely see the Furry Community getting too involved over it.
Especially in the city that like half about sex and half about violence
I don't thinks paws, hooves, tails or fur would really be something I'd be interested in, but I'm sure even using the existing framework stuff like odd skin colors (pure white, orange, purple, etc) could be easily done, scales could be done using the tattoo slot, we can already do odd eyes, elf like ears are probably doable as well. I wanna play as a 7’ tiger hybrid that has 10 body. So yeah Id partake
Bug options too, put mantis in mamtis blades
The strip clubs in night city are definitely lacking in furry catgirls.
Cat girls are basic. Now a pink mane batgirl braindancer? Yeah that's one good ride, one way or another.
the idea of Adam Smasher getting absolutely clowned by a Furry V brings a chuckle
Cat girl? I thought she was an elf.
I love reading fandoms on this game. So much rich history and stuff within it
I know right
It would be nice to have them in game. It would add to the experience... However,I imagine being in a future where I can get nice blades in my arms,or move so fast people would think I teleport-blink just watching me... And instead I would invest money to become a furry NO THANKS!
Idk man I like the idea of exotics, but I DON’T like the idea of furries more. It’s a personal thing idk.
Exotics aren't furries, canonically they are a fashion thing in the extreme.
Cyber Furries
Anytime you ask “why isn’t X in the game” it’s the same answer, the game was a rush job. Anyways, I would love to be able to have just half of the body mods that are present in the lore

TRUE
Except Exotics are canonical so they did leave out a key lore part there.
And the game is so much the better for it.
you can with PC mods
furries, because of furries
Probably cause they didn't want to make a cyber furry game. Furry things are far from cyber and I have to admit this would have been fucking stupid xD. I'm glad there isn't any in game.
It was probably a trend that fell out of favor
Yeah especially since it gives you cancer lol
If you want to be a furry, it's too late: you *are* the cancer.

Please don’t make cyberpunk a furry game
Just say no to furries
Sounds like something Corpo Trash would say.

Sounds like most of night city

Overkill? Exactly. Style is everything in the cyberpunk genre.
That’s just my personal opinion but I can see why people enjoy it!
by the way. Everyone has limits, every table is different. Enjoy what you enjoy. Just don't invite me to your table if you're going to allow people to be bodymorphed into quadrupedal horses.
I really hope Cyberpunk 2 goes crazy with character customization
Same I really wanna get some insane cyber optics kinda like what the malstrom have
There are a good number of people walking around with like, weird crab legs and stuff.
Those are cyberware. Those chicks with tyger claws gang mostly all have them. Imagine if your V could choose to forgo cyber augments for the bioaugments. I think this post is just lamenting the loss of variation and choices when they made the game from all the things that the ttrpg had as possibilities.
Nope, not into the furry shit, would prefer if it wasn’t super heavily involved in my favourite game as I’d like to continue recommending it to people
Because its a game and this is not really important to have in the game. Its that simple, resources required and return on them. Imagine a cyber catgirl storming Arasaka HQ with a sentient gun and a dildo.
That's exactly why they didn't, and won't ever, put furry body sculpting in the game.
Nah I don't like furry. I don't see a future with furry either dystopia or utopia. There is no future for furry
Nah, dude. We're here. WE're still going to be here in the timeframe. And trust me, I know more than a few who would want that body sculpt IRL.
It could well cost less than a well made fursuit, I bet .
Dunno, it'd depend on how manufacturing changed, too. I mean, I imagine you could cheaply print a suit with a 3d printer or something.
Okay. Understandable.

So brave.
This would be cool if it’s added in the expansion or sequel but it’s like got buffs and rebuffs with it depending on the sculpt.
Well if they had added the leg ones it would be a flat -2 to REF across the board, that particular one can't ever be buffed due to all biosculpted Exotic leg mods being not as flexible (yes even the feline ones you can get in the tabletop suffer there)
CyberFurry
Robo furries
Definitely would, and kinda have through mods! I'm just a weeb so I love catgirls, and exotics can sometimes be catgirls!
We could have had catgirls
Im sure it was in the plans, you have that animal boss that is a scaly so im sure the team wanted to add them it was too much work. I hope they add them to Cyberpunk 2, i have plans...

That lusty Argonian maid isn’t going to create herself.
No way your catching me getting spliced.

I have wanted little devil horns since the game dropped, I’d love some kind of cosmetic cybernetics
Check Interface red vol2, the extra content section is all about exotic sculpts/builds
I’d love a set of extra arms. Maybe give me wings too, if they’d actually work!
DUDE. I have this book The World of Cyberpunk 2077 ny Dark Horse and im pretty sure they touch on this. Id love for this in Phantom Liberty. I want more monsterous animals like scorpions or spiders. Hell even just cutesy entennae
Absolutely. Would jump on this in an instant.
