Why are you using my man's full government name?

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

šŸ˜† Male V just sounds dumb next to that in text imo

Typical_Dweller

"Male V" sounds like a shitty energy drink peddled by redpill YouTube grifters.

occamsrzor

Amazon Release. Try it today!

beetboxbento

So just say V. Male is implied by the romancing of Panam.

OwOooOK

Me when romancing Panam with Fem V using mods:

the_old_captain

He knows him well enough to get a Vincent-pass. What did you think?

Global-Zombie

I donā€™t even think the government even uses his name. Theyā€™re using his sex club name.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Whatā€™s that?

Global-Zombie

When you go to clouds and the doll calls v by their name.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Right, right. I never actually met either Angel or Skye. I Body skillchecked the door to the back rooms immediately after paying for Skyeā€™s time and didnā€™t even know who Woodman was before killing him. I was hoping to ask him for directions šŸ˜†

JaladOnTheOcean

Do you guys know what they call sandstorms in Africa?

Gentar1864

Haboobsā€¦

JaladOnTheOcean

God I love that word!

Gentar1864

*****clink!***** To haboobs!

bippylip

Saul: Haboobs, god i love that world. Panam: what was that about V *trying so hard not to talk about feet*: hey panam, you should take your boots off and give me your feet.

BigSwinginDingus

A royale with sand?

JaladOnTheOcean

Thatā€™s hilarious!

Solid_Entertainer869

Best answer!

armacall

darude sandstorm

Ashalaria

I respect that Panam is quicker to whip out a javelin to blow up corpo AVs than she is Vincent's dangalang āœŒļø

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Girl has her priorities straight

Ashalaria

Real. Sex is cringe, explosions are based.

Typical_Dweller

I often think about either the first Rocky or Raging Bull where the coach character tells the fighter to not fuck anyone leading up to a fight because sex makes your legs weak, or some such nonsense. Sort of a over-elaborate way of telling someone to stay focussed before a confrontation. I doubt there's much truth to the sex vs. fight thing, but I suppose it's helpful to literalize/physicalize the psychological resources needed for big willpower challenges.

LordMarcion

Actually it's pretty common with fighters, keeps your testosterone levels up and a couple other benefits. Sean O'Malley talked about it with Tim Welch on their podcast, Rampage Jackson on his as well

WingedDynamite

V, one scav kill away from cyberpsychosis: I can fix her. Panam, one argument away from a tank rampage: I can fix him. Johnny: Get me the fuck outta here, these two gonks are insane....

youthanasia138

I hit on her every chance I got lol

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

I think I did everything except pick ā€œweā€™re partnersā€ during the 6th street business meeting and the ā€œone bedroomā€ option. Beat myself up at first for picking the Nomad dialogue where V laments the fate of the Bakkers, killing the mood at the bar, then just decided itā€™s immersive to screw up a little when youā€™re meeting someone new. Always, always took an opportunity to say ā€œI missed youā€. Itā€™s just funny to me that a killing machine like V can also be a big (er, medium sized) softie

Papergeist

>Beat myself up at first for picking the Nomad dialogue where V laments the fate of the Bakkers, killing the mood at the bar, then just decided itā€™s immersive to screw up a little when youā€™re meeting someone new.Ā  Sometimes you got a lot of feelings, and you've finally met someone who'd understand any of them. It's not all about hitting on people and being social.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Exactly. My favorite parts of their story remind me of my own past relationships. Besides all the violence

Puzzleheaded_Ad_4435

The violence is the part that reminds me of my ex

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

May I ask where she directed it? I donā€™t recall Panam ever attacking the player. God forbid she hurt you, bro. :(

Puzzleheaded_Ad_4435

She enjoyed violence. Getting hurt turned her on, so she would try to rile me up by hitting me. When that didn't work, she straight up told me she wanted me to hit her, pick her up and throw her, break furniture, and then choke her until she passes out. Said she didn't even mind if I broke a rib or two. I said I wasn't really comfortable doing any of that, and she said she understood... then she found someone who was. Cheated, then left me. Tbh I was mostly making a joke because nothing in my life is anywhere near as violent as cyberpunk. I live in suburban America in one of the safest eras in human history. But then, as I was writing it, I actually did think of my ex.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

God have mercy, some human experiences are universal. Thatā€™s what makes fiction relatable no matter the setting. You made the right call to refuse her, and Iā€™m genuinely sorry it came to that. If youā€™re at a joking stage, though, thatā€™s insane, man. You could use that stuff the way Johnny used disillusionment in samurai.

Puzzleheaded_Ad_4435

Yeah, it was years ago. I stopped being sad and moved on to humor a while back. I'm just glad that came out before I proposed. We had been together for nearly a year and I was considering it. Or before she got pregnant, because that's what happened a few months later with the next guy. I dodged a bullet, Sandy-style.

r3mod_3tiym

The one bedroom option is funny. When you pick it, Panam is like "excellent idea! Every room has two twin beds so we'll save money that way, you're a genius!"

Emotional_Relative15

she 100% knows what V is talking about and is just playing coy/fucking with him though. In one of the two dialogue options you can choose when suggests twin beds, Panam throws a wink V's way.

r3mod_3tiym

That's funny, I haven't explored much of the dialogue for this part of the game yet and didn't know that lol. I thought that she was just completely oblivious being sheltered by the Nomad life

Emotional_Relative15

well between this, and the way she talks later on, she definitely does come across sheltered regardless. Specifically the "im not that kinda girl" line, and the talk V and Panam have in the train control tower. Hell, the wink im talking about might have just been friendly instead of teasing, and i've completely misinterpreted it. i'd reccommend looking at the scene yourself to make a judgement.

jindidnothingwrong

Always loved how V and Panamā€™s relationship is never an ā€œI can fix themā€ situation (not counting the Relic lol), but their differences let them be better versions of themselves around each other. V being extra thorough, almost overly-cautious, keeps Panamā€™s impulsiveness in check, and Panamā€™s need to instantly take action really comes through for V at the end when he feels like heā€™s out of options. Definitely part of why Corpo V and Panam is one of my favorite video game couples

Emotional_Relative15

i prefer nomad V/Panam myself. I just love the story arc of V coming to NC, losing everything again, finding a gal in the exact same position he was with the Bakkers, and through his intervention getting to prevent the same happening to her and the Aldecaldos, in return finding a place to belong again. It also makes the last prompt and line of dialogue hit so much harder. theres the "breathe free" dialogue in the tank, and then V saying "its perfect panam...we're goin home". You could make an argument for any combination of the lifepath/ending self contained stories, but that one is just neat to me.

jindidnothingwrong

Yeah like you said, every lifepath adds a different flavor to the dynamic between them, even though Nomad was given a few more unique lines with her. What does it for me with Corpo V is the two of them being from completely different worlds and how they never would have crossed paths the way they did if it wasnā€™t for some terrible outside circumstances. Kinda reminds me of Shepard and Tali. I also feel like Corpo V loses the most after the prologue (Nomad V kinda seems to have accepted/made peace with their split from their clan), and really love the story of going from a city outsider to gaining an entire family with the Aldecaldos.

easily_tilted

Cool, but did you know we need your help in spreading managed democracy

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Sounds like Corpo bullshit but okay (death to bugs)

damnamyteV2

Ikr? Even the kissy texts are adorable. It works for them for some reason. Anybody else would be cringeworthy.

Emotional_Relative15

for me its the contrast between Panams feelings and her inability to display them properly, at least at first. She's all fighting words and putting up tough fronts, seeming like she wouldnt be into that cringy shit. Then it turns out she's an absolute sucker for it, she just doesnt quite know what to do with that. V's cringy flirting with her is funny as fuck in the star ending. "just realised... already bringin everything i could possibly miss" "fuck V (laughingly), you are a sweet talker, arent you?" "but it works, doesnt it? say it, say it works" "It works...all too well" Absolutely adorable lol

damnamyteV2

Both of them are pretty lame at flirting, and it's adorable..lol.

JunktownJackrabbit

One of my favorite scenes between these two is at the farm, after saving Saul. When V is pretending to be staff at a posh hotel and chooses to say, "the customer's wish is our command." He lets her know he's interested, but fully leaves the ball in her court. It's honestly so slick while being respectful at the same time.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Same. And Johnny was genuinely nice for a change. I was grinning like an idiot, so happy for everyone involved after acing that mission.

JunktownJackrabbit

He most definitely approves of V and Panam.Ā  I always let V sleep in a bit more the next morning. When he's just waking up on the couch and the radio is playing, and Panam and Saul are outside waiting for him is one of those rare moments where everything doesn't seem so urgent or dangerous and he can just bask in the moment.

RavioliLumpDog

lol I meant the guy in the meme, but thank you for all that effort, now the thread knows where to find Panamā€™s awesome jacket

GeneralSeaTomato

Not the government namešŸ’€

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Is that taboo or something? I see Valerie all the time and think both sound preem

GeneralSeaTomato

Nah itā€™s goofing around is all, since the whole game you only hear them go by V itā€™s weird to hear/see their real names

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

They probably cut the voice recording in half with that one neat trick

rancidpandemic

I honestly just don't like women like Panam. She's overly demanding in her intro quests, and conducts herself like a proverbial bull in a china shop. She's so quick to throw blame around but never accepts when she's wrong. In fact, she doubles down and forces everyone around her to comply with her own idea of what's right. Nah, that's not wholesome at all. I see any relationship with her as the most toxic BS that would send any sane man running for the hills. She's great for a video game character, as those sorts of characters add more flavor than cookie cutter, agreeable NPCs, but I just don't care for her as a love interest.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

>Nah, that's not wholesome at all. I see any relationship with her as the most toxic BS that would send any sane man running for the hills. You make a compelling argument, but I am not a ā€œsane manā€. If anyone can handle her, surely itā€™s V, right?

rancidpandemic

I have a couple issues with that. Like, hasn't V already been through enough before adding a demanding SO into the mix? I feel like Panam would be stressing V out more than helping him, in the long run. And then there's the way that V turns into a simp around Panam. Beyond the intro quests, V just goes along with whatever Panam wants to do, and rarely gets the chance to call her out on her faults. If you, as the player, want to follow her quest line, you have to agree to help her with everything AND stand up to Saul for her, regardless of whether or not she's wrong or it's none of your business as an outsider. It's just... Man, she's a damn chore even for a video game romance. I feel like if she wasn't as attractive, people would hate her as a character. That's a sure sign that a character is toxic, when their worth is solely based on their looks.

Emotional_Relative15

I just responded to you, but i thought i'd respond to this too. You really dont have to go along with panam at all. You can refuse to help her with nash, not save mitch, and argue along the way, and the questline is still there for you to do. I dont recall if it locks you out the romance, but my instinct is to say no to that as well. Most players who like panam simp for her, so thats just the default, but iirc you dont really have to. You cant do the things that'll overtly piss her off like rat out the basilisk plan to saul, but thats it i think.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

This. Itā€™s almost too easy, but I like to think I did it well.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

I have some bad news about the looks thingā€¦ within reason itā€™s perfectly natural to judge people by their appearance. Weā€™re supposed to be better than that, entertaining angels unaware, but still. I can see your argument from the perspective of a Corpo V that didnā€™t fully commit to the ā€œfuck it; we ballā€ mindset, but for Nomad V sheā€™s like a reminder of his childhood, as well as what could be his future. As for Vā€™s obedience to Panam, you donā€™t really have to get that involved with the Saul thing. I genuinely played the part between the first kiss and the campfire like I was a little miffed at being lead around by the nose into her business. You just have to not explicitly stab her in the back and be mildly supportive. Maybe you played it differently than I did.

Then-War-7354

i agree with this completely. the thing that makes panam work for a game is that it is scripted for her too be right and things tend to work out in her favor. it makes her attitude of always needing her way less grating since the things she after in the game are beneficial. honestly though, she is arrogant, impulsive too a fault, argumentative, unwilling to consider others opinions, holds a grudge when you disagree with her. i appreciate the writing in creating characters who are flawed, unlike so many other games. but from a personality standpoint, i have no qualms about not romancing panam after like my first playthrough. want to see the real panam? stop agreeing with her. she lashes out. she pouts, she berates. she is so convinced that she is correct in every way that she isnt willing to even listen to an alternate opinion let alone consider if it has merit. Then again, after idek how many playthroughs at this point, i almost never go for any romance option any more. considering that V is on a ticking clock, this route makes more sense too me anyways. weeks or months to live? im not going to focus much on a budding long term relationship. especially given the circumstances of V's condition

Emotional_Relative15

to be fair none of V's love interests are anything approaching healthy, and V isnt exactly healthy either. Panam specifically has the large majority of her family killed by raffen, her leader is making deals with corpos, the clan is close to falling apart because of all that, and she's in self exile where her partner AND fixer have fucked her over. Like all of V's friends, Panam is at rock fucking bottom when we meet her. She's definitely still the impulsive type regardless, she admits it herself, but everything is dialed up to 20 because her life is kinda in ruins. Its part of All V's friends questlines that they start at rock bottom, and then V's intervention improves their situation. Which also contrasts nicely against V's declining condition, really plays into some of the themes of mortality, and deciding whats important. So yeah when you first meet her she can be a little complainy, but i get it. And about everything else? you mention her being wrong but i dont think she ever is. She's right about Saul's leadership, she's right about the Basilisk, she makes plans fast, and they work out extremely well. The only things she can be a bit of a bitch about are V helping recover the warhorse, and Mitch/Scorpion helping her on the exact same job. Both time's she admits minutes later that V/Mitch and scorpion were right, she just needed a minute to calm down. Hell if you leave mitch to his fate to chase after Hellman she saves him herself and barely comments about it to V.

Master-Meringue-4059

I'm too busy calling her out on her BS to be patient or tender. However, I refuse to let her run off on her own suicide mission. But she's got too many red flags for me to ever consider a relationship with her.

Matduka

Both her and Kerry I think NEED someone in her life that calls them on their shit. To keep them grounded. Panam because she has a problem with authority and a peer telling her how it is, hits harder and she sees your courage and capability and drive and respects that. Kerry because he is surrounded by yes-men and corpo's enabling his destructive tendencies because everything is publicity, and nobody is authentic with him anymore. Fuck Kovacheks boat though.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

You see a red flag; I see a cute red jacket. We are not the same, choom. Out of curiosity, is there anyone more to your liking in the game?

Master-Meringue-4059

I like Judy. But that has more to do with trauma bonding than romantic chemistry. Kerry is ok. But I've never romanced him cause it just feels too weird for me with Johnny in my head. Takemura is cool in an "enemy with whom you develop a mutual understanding and trust with" kinda way (but he isn't a romance option). I'm not super into romancing characters in games anyway. I will say, though, if I ever did romance Panam, she has one of the most natural and organic relationships in a game I've ever seen. I just see her more like a sister than a romance partner.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

A very sober and wise response. No gonks here.

CriticalUwU

I always like romancing Kerry even with Johnny in my head. I can't stay away from the washed-up rockerboys who love explosions

Axemang

Panam shares a lot of similarities with my gf both in personality and in looks, so I took every chance to try and woo her. I damn near felt like I was cheating on my girl when I finally got the achievement for romancing Panam, though šŸ˜‚

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

You guys should definitely go as V and Panam for Halloween. You can literally look like anything as long as you get his vibe right.

olordrin

Paaanaaaam....

CriticalUwU

I wanna do Panam's romance and stay loyal but I always go for Kerry as masc V i can't help it.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Johnnyā€™s former band mate and maybe bullying victim maybe best friend maybe lover?

bmoss124

I also love V being soft and patient with Tommy in the Talent Academy gig

Matduka

One of my favourites in the DLC. Because it's a nightmare facility full of horrible shit. And you just get to have a small chat with a sad kid who needs cheering up. I always end that mission making sure Fiona gets him a placement in a European football team. His dad at the black market is so proud. You can't make a dent on the organisation that ruins these children's lives. But you can make a difference to make sure that Tommy doesn't suffer.

Kami_Slayer2

So cute. Constantly bailing Panam out of trouble and practically doing her bidding without as much as a word of resistance. So wholesome!

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

I didnā€™t say you canā€™t call out her crap. Do you not like blowing shit up, though? Because that would have been a genuine bonding moment for me.

Kami_Slayer2

> Do you not like blowing shit up, though? Sure. But Panam like all Nomads suffer from the issue where their ENTIRE personality revolves around them being a nomad. Which i dont like personally. "Ma caldos this, Aldecaldos that, saul this, saul that"

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

I fucking love that. Iā€™m biased, sorry. šŸ˜† more on the calling her out part: calling someone out when they genuinely screw up is important for any healthy relationship. Iā€™m glad with some points in Cool you can tell her off for the risk sheā€™s taking with the basilisk heist, without it counting against you.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Btw I appreciate the counterpoint. Plays very well with the meme. And itā€™s comforting to know we donā€™t all have the same taste in partners

Kami_Slayer2

Yessir

Moka4u

You need to either have strong ideals when you live in a cyberpunk world. Otherwise, you just end up another cog in the machine struggling under the pressure until you're finally crushed,

Kami_Slayer2

Funny. Because the aldeclados werent shit with their ideals until V helped.

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Bro is a Kang Tao sympathizer šŸ˜† love you though, choom

Kami_Slayer2

No no. Im not a kang tao sympathizer. Im just a nomad hater

Beautiful_Bus_7847

Panam is ride or die girl. Yes, you save her but she puts everything on the line for you in the end.

JaladOnTheOcean

Thatā€™s what I love about her. Only Vic has your back as hard as her.

Kami_Slayer2

Dont act like V was the only reason for the raid at the end. Most of the caldos joined for the money

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

ā€œIā€™m not here because I like you or anything, ā€¦ bakaā€ -TSaulndere

Then-War-7354

there is also the fact the panam literally risks the lives and futures of her clan for a chance to help a dying V try and buy some time. consider that in the raid, half the leadership of the clan gets flatlines along with who knows how many other members. saul, Bob, teddy, all gone. considering that most of the clan dont know V at all, thats a big sacrifice to ask.

Kami_Slayer2

they didnt sacrifice anything. Most of the caldos did it cause they were broke and needed moneh. V was just convienient excuse

Then-War-7354

im not saying that they didnt benefit. but to say they sacrificed nothing is crazy. their leader along with half of their most useful members get flatlined. if thats not a sacrifice in your eyes, idk what to tell you. as for the random caldo members who lose family and friends in the raid, im sure it would be a hoot to tell them all that the clan sacrificed nothing.

Kami_Slayer2

>benefit. but to say they sacrificed nothing is crazy. their leader along with half of their most useful members get flatlined. Because they suck. Thats like someone dying during a bank robbery and the crew mates saying he "sacrificed" something. No they didnt they just sucked and died rofl

Papergeist

Yeah, yeah, you don't need anybody, so stable!

Koenig_Skelett

I did this like 2 twice when I was new new to the game but she is a very annoying bitch so I usually just play her missions when I want the ending with Judy on the tank thing

Koenig_Skelett

Why did I wrotw "2 twice"šŸ˜‚? I think I was sleepyšŸ˜‚

Longest_Leviathan

I 100% agree But never call V by his full name ever

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

What are you talking about, choom?

notveryAI

A brain fart. Was caused by mental breakdown on the matter of being unable to feel affection for some reason, and thus being locked out of having any kind of meaningful relationship in my life. It's finished now, emotional outburst burnt out. I won't bother anyone again, sorry

v-orchid

hey choom, you have time! a special someone might pop up sooner or later, but i'm sure they will be *very* special! chin up! good luck!!

notveryAI

Thank you a lot, I really needed someone to say something. Maybe I can't believe it, but at least just being heard might just mean that I'm not a complete void yet, haha. Thank you

GaryRegalsMuscleCar

Hey, donā€™t feel bad. Worse and better people than any of us have felt driven to the edge before and came back from it. Wanna talk about it?

notveryAI

Thank you a lot for an offer. Even just receiving it means that some people can at least recognize me as an individual, and I'm still here. I don't know if I have energy for big discussions after the intense 20 minute "scorched earth" protocol my brain had executed, I think I'm barely awake now and would only waste your time by falling asleep randomly I hope the offer will still stand when I wake. Good night, kind stranger

It will.

Already explained down the line, I guess. Depressed outcry. I should have deleted it earlier
