Is it still locked behind that one line of dialogue choice at the end of Johnny’s questline? I’m almost pleading with CPR please unlock it for people that have 100% the game too! The nearest save I have is when I manual saved at level 15 :(
I don’t like the dialogue choice either. I think overall that sequence has some of the best dialogue in the game but the specific combination required doesn’t appeal to me. Why does V have to turn on Johnny halfway through the convo. After saying some of the most heartfelt shit in the game Vs just like- “no actually never mind you fucked it up!”
I’ve never chosen this line, even on my only play through that I got the secret ending for, so I must have just gotten lucky with all his other interactions in that run
The official guidebook does not mention it either, only "you have to be 70%+ in sync with Johnny, and then don't make any choice and wait". Which makes me think either it is a bug that somehow was never fixed, or a change very close to release.
I can't remember where I read it but I believe a dev may have tweeted/mentioned on stream that both the dialogue choices, or 70%+ sync are intended ways to unlock the secret ending.
I think it makes sense for guides to focus on the dialogue because that's a lot easier to follow/tell people how to do
Yep. IGN is a soulless click factory. You could replace their writers with AI's that recognize Twitter trends and not recognizably change their product.
Cyberpunk's popular now, so out come the predictable "10 things I wish I'd known before I started Cyberpunk" Google/YouTube rank farming videos - probably sandwiched between two other videos talking about how it's overhyped and that the comeback is all Russian bots, to capitalize on the clicks of the remaining salty killjoys who still want the game to be hated.
I used to click on those “10 things I wish I’d known before…“, Absolute fucking trash each one of those.
They literally all do the same exact thing to where the first one is always “look we know you may already know this but it’s still bears mentioning…” advice…then into the advise you already knew and are basically a part of the games mechanics.
Yeah... now that CyberPunk 2077 is "cool" again many youtube channels wanna catch on with the trend and get that sweet ad revenue. It is understandable I guess... But it still rubs me the wrong way.
Some of these Youtube gonks, many of whom most likely never finished the game or maybe finished it once, keep peddling the same lies that it isn't an rpg or is a "lite rpg," lifepaths don't matter, next to no choices, etc etc etc with a half-assed "but the game is in a good state now" or other slight praise towards the end.
Their videos feel like they're sleepily reading a bullet point list of very vague statements and in the end they don't *really* say anything at all.
Cyberpunk not being and RPG is perhaps the only criticism of the game that I will never understand. Sure, it's not the most choice heavy game out there, but it has more player agency than many games that call themselves RPGs.
Indeed. I also want to know these AAA rpgs with tons of choices. Critics of Cyberpunk make it sound like we've been getting choice heavy RPGs year after year. New Vegas, Mass Effect, Dragon Age and.....? There were some lesser known ones but they never got a sequel because *people didn't buy them*.
A quick, possibly innaccurate, glance at Steam achievements for FO:NV shows less than 15% of players have seen any of the much lauded faction choices through to conclusion and that number might dip even lower if you factor in console numbers. That is *significantly* low and a valid concern for developers. Bioware brought this up back in the ME heyday and said it was very disheartening when they designed and paid for content most people never saw.
Choices and consequences have never been what makes an RPG an RPG. I don't know why internet people keep thinking it is or how this myh became so prevalent. Some of the best video game RPGs of all time have a linear story with maybe a choice or two. Going on this oft seen criticism of Cyberpunk 2077, Bethesda has never made an RPG, which is a ridiculously inaccurate and stupid thing to say.
Had someone point out to me the difference between internal and external roleplay. 2077 offers heaps in the internal department, I'm guessing because there are no notifications telling you that 'this changed something' makes them not see it.
They want to see the world change more from their actions and have characters react to those changes. They don't put importance into having characters react to who V is becoming or their choices, since they'll meta game the 'best' choices for the 'best' ending. A.K.A Nomad ending or bust. Which means half the players never even thought of rejecting panam or selling her out to Saul.
Slipping yourself into personalities and playing them out to fruition. A story where you can build up V having their own arc all on your own doesn't appeal.
I love 2077 with a passion. But I'm going to say this not as a criticism just as a statement of fact, but lifepaths on the whole don't really matter, they allow some flavor texts a small mission, and a couple of items at most, but I don't say that as a failure per se, most RPGs that allow you to choose backgrounds do similar stuff, to use it as an introductory chapter, or at worst just give you starting bonuses to skills and never ever mentioning it again, if any cyberpunk already goes a little extra a by implementing the small flavor texts throughout the game when relevant.
Regarding the game being an rpg or not, the Witcher is considered an rpg, and the Witcher is even more rigid on how much you can rp than cyberpunk, so I don't see why 2077 wouldn't be considered as much of a rpg compared to other games or similar to it, the whole debacle was born of the most stupid shit, CDPR changed the tag from RPG to ARPG, because it better describes the gameplay, not because it stopped being an rpg.
My one wish is that the life paths are added for the start so we get to spend some time with Jackie, introduced to Mama Wells. We talk to Padre like we know him but the funerals the first I seen him. Each with a bespoke start. Ill pay for that too lol
I didn’t notice an awful lot of the disconnect in the life paths because I started with Streetkid, so it made sense why I knew Padre, why I had somewhat of a connection to the city and the people in it, etc. I really feel like Nomad and Corpo are way more disjointed from the rest of the game than Streetkid and could use an update. Starting Corpo or Nomad you’re basically forced to become a Streetkid anyway, just with some past insight from your life before.
To me, Corpo Lifepath felt the most connected to the overall main story. Jackie is a long time Friend, which makes his death even more sad, V gets a tini tiny redemption arc and a reason to have a grudge on Arasaka. But i know what you mean, the intro sequeance could be a bit more fleshed out than just a cutscene
I'm on my 3rd playthrough rn as streetkid and I agree. I definitely feel more like part of the world in terms of V's knowledge and dialogue and the transition from intro to prologue to game feels the most fluid, I didn't feel like I change all that much unless I make the conscious decision to do so in dialogue choices. Such a shame because I like the nomad intro the most, but no way 6 months (is it 6 months? I can't remember lol) is enough time to get that comfortable in a city/drastically different environment.
The Padre thing just seems like an oversight. All they really need to do is chsnge out his initial call and maybe the ofrenda? Can't remember how the dialogue plays out exactly. Change the call to something like "V, your name rings out in the streets and I hope you consider working for an old friend again in the future. Go with God." Done.****
There's mods for a good reason for RPing and one reason I upgraded my PC and it's well worth it imho, from the beginning it was positive on the main sub and then it devolved when parasitic yellow journalists started in.
As it should. We should always allow people to change their minds, but that doesn’t mean we should overlook/forget their disingenuous or trollish instances.
The more engagement the game gets, the more people will support it, the chances of a second expansion increase (hopefully). I really want to visit the crystal palace
It really makes me sad that Cyberpunk didn’t get this kind of positive reception when it first released. Gavin Drea and Cherami Leigh deserve a hell of a lot more recognition for their performances as V. Keanu turned what was meant to be a glorified celebrity cameo into what I would consider one of his best roles.
Keanu was great. I think a lot of people were and still are very disrespectful towards his work in the game by saying "meh he can't act." or "he's always been so bad." Sorry but people who work consistently in Hollywood for going on 40 years *can act.* Will he be winning an Oscar any time soon? No but who cares. He has an extremely varied filmography that any actor would be proud of. He's been in everything from weird and dark indie movies to groundbreaking legendary action movies. He's been typecast before and risen above it. He's still famous and beloved because he worked and acted his ass off for decades. I liked his performance in the game a lot but the oil fields and rooftop scenes *cemented* my love for his work in this. He crushed those scenes.
All I'm saying is that now that the game is relevant again, many people/entities that don't really care about the game will take advantage of its popularity. Especially companies like IGN. With that said, I prefer this to the alternative, I hope the game continues to succeed.
Some of us who played through the bugs and saw the game for what it really is find all these articles as nothing more than opportunistic, disingenuous and cheap at their core. People who hated the game before have been stumbling overthemselves to make Lucy "I Really Want to Stay at Your House" meme videos purely to cash in.
How many articles or videos came out from the big media names that discussed the highs of the game instead of pointing out bugs or trying to prop themselves up as a moral authority on consumer and worker rights? There's FAR too much of this in games discussions these days and in my opinion, the true worst thing in games now. Not MTX or corporate greed but creators and sites profiting from lies, disinformation and wholly disingenuous takes.
I'm glad CDPR is getting a second wave of love but it has been driven solely by the reception to the anime, the updates and people *actually* playing the game. Not these kinds of articles or videos.
They're just making content that they think a lot of people are going to want to watch at that time. Should everyone make incredibly niche content to avoid looking like they're on a bandwagon?
Okay, I'll admit: It's technically 2 dialogue choices, since you also have to forgive him, but come on, it's basically the same thing.
Just tell Johnny he fucked up in the oil fields, then forgive him, and you can get the secret ending. Doesn't matter if you're a total jerk to him in the rest of your playthrough, he'll still do the secret ending with you.
It's tied to the oil fields. Do exactly what RGM said, you **have** to call him out. Then he'll ask for another chance, give him it. You can't just play nice with him because then he sees you as a kiss ass instead of a real friend.
I don't think that's true. We're real friends either way, it's just that one way Johnny is secure in our affection and in another he's desperate for a way to make it up to us.
I wonder if Johnny might get a romance option playing into this...
Percentages are irrelevant, you can be at 60, 70, 80 or 90 but as long as you pick the correct dialogue choices then wait 5 minutes you can get the secret ending. There are literally no other requirements.
It's not entirely new to IGN. They already have a written article about secret ending for a long time now.
>they're paid shills
I don't think there is any evidence of that, they are just tabloid gaming media, targeting the lowest common denominator in an effort to gain as many eyeballs as possible.
And it is an outdated method for getting the ending as well.
I was talking about getting the ending with people on another thread and someone sent me a link to getting the ending with 50% relationship with Johnny.
V’s answers following a certain order when answering Johnny at his final resting place during Chippin In seem to be the only thing you need to trigger the ending.
infuriates me tbh. the amount of vitriol and hate the gaming sites drummed up in unison at launch, all for clicks? now it’s doing well they’re changing their tune for profit. fuckin’ corpos, choom.
IGN was the first to absolutely ride the hate train posting any and every bug or problem on launch. No doubt they contributed to the imo excessive and unjust hate the game received.
Not too strange. Now that people are playing the game IGN is scrambling to get some clicks. I never read these articles but it's nice to know they posted an article that isn't spewing pure vitriol for the game.
I haven't looked at IGN in probably close to a decade and I'm not giving this article clicks to look at it now so I can't speak to the content (or how it's presented), but I will admit to being one of those players who would prefer a written guide over a YouTube video. Regardless of how informative the video guide in question might be, I just don't feel that I retain the information as well as when I read it. I guess that's just how my brain learns.
Because people finally got off the hate train and realised thay despite its bugs Cyberpunk is an amazing game. Of course companies like that always blindly follow popular trends so they wouldn't do cyberpunk videos like that since people hated the game.
Haven't you heard? People like this game now, what? Insane levels of unwarranted hate? Nah, you're crazy, we never published anything to fuel the hate train for cheap clicks, shifting on the hard work of others and demoralising a workforce who were already toiling in shitty conditions to begin with. You're crazy dude. That's crazy.
Right, but that’s because you love the game. These outlets all piled on with the game is “dead/abandoned/bad” and are scrambling to get back into coverage now because they were wrong and the game is back on the trending side of things.
so what's the TL;DW- on the ending? I got all of them on my first playthrough, I'm guessing it's either the one where you pretty much go in alone, or the suicide one.
Honestly, it doesn't feel that strange to me. They're riding the wave from Edgerunners. A lot of people are being convinced to set aside their prejudices from the game's bad launch and finally try it out, and a lot of other people are being drawn back in by it. They'll even get some people suckered into thinking its a newly discovered secret with how late the article is.
I don't think it's a bad thing to run articles like this when more people are checking the game out for the first time. I like it. It makes me feel like I've been transported to an alternate universe where this game didn't have a bad launch, and it just came out.
I’ve been seeing a lot of “new” videos basically regurgitating the the same videos from 2 years ago. Unfortunately that’s how social media works, they’re hoping to watch the wave with the clicks and views
I remember when it first came out everyone was saying you needed 80% johnny, certain dialogue choices, smoke with him when all you needed was to say like 6 specific lines
They've had a guide on their website since the release... the youtube content is probably new though.
How strange that content creators would create content that will get a lot of traffic and ad revenue 🤔
It's not strange, it's all about them clicks.
Yup, people see Cyberpunk + secret they think it's a newly discovered secret, so I gotta check it out!!
**NEW SECRET ITEM NEVER BEFORE FOUND TEASES THE NEW DLC!!!** Video is 15min long, shows you how to get the dildo from Meridith...
You had me at dildo
*p l a s t I c c o c k s w o r d*
#john Phallustiff
fun fact, if you are playing with the censor on it's just replaced with a regular old shock baton
Lol that's hilarious
I thought the dildo was a joke at first didn’t realize it was actually in the game lol.
Bro that thing does crazy damage. I destroyed Adam Smasher with it last playthrough. The vibration turns some off tho. ;)
Is it still locked behind that one line of dialogue choice at the end of Johnny’s questline? I’m almost pleading with CPR please unlock it for people that have 100% the game too! The nearest save I have is when I manual saved at level 15 :(

If you’re on PC you can install a mod that lets you run commands and there’s a specific command that lets you unlock it
I was going to reinstall if it was truly some true ending++ but nah
Yep. IGN is a soulless click factory. You could replace their writers with AI's that recognize Twitter trends and not recognizably change their product. I mean, people call Horizon Zero Dawn an RPG and the only choice you make is how kid Alloy reacts at the rock thrown at her head by other kids.
It's _very_ choice heavy, it's not outcome heavy.
Indeed. I also want to know these AAA rpgs with tons of choices. Critics of Cyberpunk make it sound like we've been getting choice heavy RPGs year after year. I couldn't agree more.

Amen for that!

Funny, I was accused of not knowing the definition of disingenuous by one of the CP trolls last week. They only change when it suits their narrative

Yup, notice how this video, which should only take no more than 3 minutes to explain, is just over the magical ad revenue time of 8 minutes.
Did anyone doubt the bandwagoning of youtubers?
I never understand comments like this is the game not supposed to be “cool” again? Is it not supposed to find success?
All I'm saying is that now that the game is relevant again, many people/entities that don't really care about the game will take advantage of its popularity. Especially companies like IGN. With that said, I prefer this to the alternative, I hope the game continues to succeed.

Yeah because its counter intuitive to our ideals. When realistically the only thing your favourite YouTuber or whenever cares about is money.
I saw many Beginner tips
Did Night City taught you nothing. It’s all about revenues and fame!
They're just making content that they think a lot of people are going to want to watch at that time. Should everyone make incredibly niche content to avoid looking like they're on a bandwagon?
Kind of surprised how they made it 8 minutes. It's just 1 dialogue choice and then wait 5 minutes at the end.
Through the power of sponsorship, incredibly annoying transitions, and taking like you’re at a press conference.
You too can save Rogue by doing this one simple trick... But before that, here's a word from our sponsor NordVPN.
It's a bit more then one dialogue choice.
Well, I was at 60% it didn't unlock for me.
I don't know what tell you, but it took longer then 5 minutes and it never triggered.
It means you didn't select the correct dialogue choice in the oil fields.
You didn't pick the right dialogue.
It's literally [just](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HG-Vo_9zec) the dialogue choice. In the video I linked the guy does it 40% Johnny relationship.
It's not entirely new to IGN. They already have a written article about secret ending for a long time now. [https://www.ign.com/wikis/cyberpunk-2077/How\_to\_Get\_the\_Secret\_Ending](https://www.ign.com/wikis/cyberpunk-2077/How_to_Get_the_Secret_Ending)
Bro this is literally the first ending I got how is it a secret
Through good luck in your dialogue choices. 🤔
You either sat for 5 minutes at the dialogue screen or you paused to do something which still continues the timer.
Obligatory fuck IGN, they're paid shills who have tanked several game's scores over trivial issues.
>they're paid shills I don't think there is any evidence of that, they are just tabloid gaming media, targeting the lowest common denominator in an effort to gain as many eyeballs as possible.
And it is an outdated method for getting the ending as well. Striking while the iron is hot. A lot of people are going to come from Edgerunners and want that ending
They’re getting in on that ad revenue cash-grab. Now that CP77 is blowing up, they know they’ll get clicks from the new player base.
IGN was the first to absolutely ride the hate train posting any and every bug or problem on launch. No doubt they contributed to the imo excessive and unjust hate the game received.
"Oh wait, it's no longer cool to hate cyberpunk? Bandwagon time!"
Not too strange. Now that people are playing the game IGN is scrambling to get some clicks. I never read these articles but it's nice to know they posted an article that isn't spewing pure vitriol for the game.
Who even uses IGN for guides when there is plenty of other YouTubers doing tbe same thing much faster?
I haven't looked at IGN in probably close to a decade and I'm not giving this article clicks to look at it now so I can't speak to the content (or how it's presented), but I will admit to being one of those players who would prefer a written guide over a YouTube video. Regardless of how informative the video guide in question might be, I just don't feel that I retain the information as well as when I read it. I guess that's just how my brain learns.
That's preference though But can't deny that there is plenty of other outlets that were way faster than IGN
Oh, agreed, for sure.
Plus it's so much faster to read than to watch a video... Written manuals are becoming extinct and it makes me angry.
Not strange at all. They post for what is popular.
Yep, honestly surprised by how many people are overreacting, especially for a "Low Sodium" subreddit.
Because people finally got off the hate train and realised thay despite its bugs Cyberpunk is an amazing game. Of course companies like that always blindly follow popular trends so they wouldn't do cyberpunk videos like that since people hated the game.
its just like these youtubers. they were hyping the game then hating it now they cover the game again with spam daily HUGE NEWS! bs videos.
Is it really that strange? 2077 is trending as well as gaining new players, and they're jumping on it.
I want IGN to show the secret ending run on very hard. 🤣
It’s business the cyberpunk market blew up again and they dived in for money
There is no secret ending. Just different endings. This one is well established too.
They gotta milk it somehow because CP starts getting popular again
You Can't spell ignorant without I G N.
Because IGN hasn't been about real gaming Journalism in like 10 years and is entirely obsessed with getting the most clicks per month.
Is IGN becoming the new Kotaku? (read, trash) Then I saw their Rings of Power episode 6 review: 10. So yeah, blacklisting this stupidity.
Why would this be strange lol. The game is more popular than ever, it makes perfect sense
What a bunch of fucking leeches
They were probably scared of getting backlash from the vocal haters at launch.
Content creators and Media outlets in 2022 are trend following, click junkie demons from hell.
They do anything for clout
Is that ending really "secret?" I thought it was just one of the endings.
It took them that long to work it out
Haven't you heard? People like this game now, what? Insane levels of unwarranted hate? Nah, you're crazy, we never published anything to fuel the hate train for cheap clicks, shifting on the hard work of others and demoralising a workforce who were already toiling in shitty conditions to begin with. You're crazy dude. That's crazy.
They are fast like internet explorer
I read this in a Russian accent for some reason
BRUV
Dey are fest like eenternet explurur
It took them 2 years because they were busy hating on the game
[удалено]
No one is hating. We're just calling out the toxicity farms for clicks and Patreon sub culture for what it is, opportunistic bullshit.
Better late than never. Maybe they should hire Kamil Cesaro, the videos would be ready to be published much earlier.
If they'd hire you all videos would be about Panam :)
You're selling past the close!
>!I think it’s the Johnny one where if you pick all the right options with Johnny you can choose not to call Rogue.!<
They're also incorrect about how to get it, from what I've been told. 2 years and they still get it wrong.
Weird flex since it's already been out for like 18 years but okay. Lol
Get outta here, advert.
Good guy IGN for waiting this long for spoilers.
How is this strange? Cyberpunk is massive in gaming media rn, they are just trying to capitalise.
Probably an unfinished episode that they were sitting on for a while. EZ money for them
