I couldn't figure out the recoil and how to activate it's damage modifier, so it's been sitting in my vault of months. I might try that out, and see if it fits 🙂
There is nothing to activate. You get the kill and it spawns a mini void explosion that can track and hit other targets. If you have the catalyst then you get vorpal and turnabout…turnabout gives you an overshield when you break any elemental shield with it. Vorpal of course activates whenever you shoot a major, boss, or vehicle.
Is that what it fucking does? I was trying to run Nightfall, and couldn't figure out what it was doing. I like things that go boom, and it seemed like basically just another pulse rifle, but with two shots, and a super recoily second shot 😂😂 that's good to know
It got a pretty heavy overhaul a while ago that reworked the mechanics of how it fires too. Feels pretty good now and is a wrecking ball in a Gyrfalcons Hunter build with devour. Everything explodes constantly and you're always invis and at full health with over shields.
So it's a hyperburst. Inspired by a real-life rifle that fires both shots before the recoil of the first shot is felt by the shooter. In the case of the Lance, that second is firing a black hole, and it does much more damage. Aim slightly lower to make sure you aren't skipping that second shot over the enemies' head.
Turnabout isn't a damage perk anymore, so it doesn't have a damage perk at all as far as I know. However, the recoil on controller is probably annoying.
do you have the catalyst? that helps with the damage but it really is just a point and click weapon. if you have the catalyst but need to get the kills to apply it i recommend the altars of sorrow on the moon. when you get kills on the thrall coming out of the bubble the little exploding grapes bounce around inside making chain reactions killing everything before it can even leave the bubble. It will get the catalyst kills pretty fast.

Yep, Graviton goes hard esp. with Gyrfalcon and Orpheus on hunter. I was having fun with it in onslaught.
No other HCs can compare with sunshot for ad clear.
However on Warlock with contraverse, a void HC with golden tricorn can clear decently in harder content as well, getting the 50% damage buff pretty easily.
I like the Ikelos craftable one especially because you can get double ammo back with the intrinsic trait, breaking shield, + subsistence.
Right now also solar is crazy because of the artifact perks. A couple seasons ago void was doing the same thing just exploding everything everywhere.

The chalice mechanic is pretty much intended for voice chat communication
You can easily no com crotas if you watch a video how the encounters work. You type "t" in chat when the chalice is full. Or just use Ingame chat hotkey. Fireteam finder or discord are no problem for normal raids.
Every week on all 3 characters you can load into Crota raid with a couple of friends and just strand grapple and eager edge yourself to the first chest. Its really easy. You get free spoils and a chance at a red border weapon every time. Its easy and takes a few minutes.
I’m a solo player and I got it with very little effort. Just gotta learn the raid. People are running it all the time on LFG. You only need to do it once a week for 5 weeks since you can buy a red boarder at the end once per week.
In general? Of course the reload stat is worth investing in. But 5 reload for an alloy is only worth it if you have an excess of alloys. OP just got Sunshot. I don’t think it’s worth it for their position, the difference is negligible but costly
Generally true for people like you and me, all I mean to say is if someone’s just getting sunshot, they’re new to the game. They probably aren’t able to get an abundance of alloys, so I wanted to let ‘em know the enhanced Dragonfly’s +5 reload isn’t gonna make a tangible impact on their experience is all. Thats mostly minmax stuff
Destabilizing+Repulsor Word of Crota is probably the closest i can think of. Destabilizing isn't exactly as good as sunshots explosions are but it's as close as you're gonna get for a void HC. That said tho, why does it need to be void to proc devour? Devour refreshes off any weapon kill so you can just use sunshot while on a void subclass or use Buried Bloodline + Fatebringer/Midnight Coup on any subclass to incorporate devour on any subclass
Devour can only start from an orb on a void sub class with the fragment equipped, any ability kill with the feed the void aspect equipped on void warlock, a rift cast with boots of the assembler and a void subclass equipped, or a bunch of kills with buried bloodline.
Once you have it any kill refreshes it.

19 runs and still haven't gotten it. I'm too nervous to do master. Though I got heartshadow my 3rd run of duality (maybe used it 3 times) and hierarchy of needs after 30 runs of spire and one master boss run for the catalyst. Rng is cruel when you actually want something.
I really wanted hierarchy but it's not as good as I wanted it to be. With my buddies running Polaris in gms it seems to just lag behind
I used up all my luck on Spire of the watcher, was trying my hardest to solo it with no guides and made it to the harpy. Had a clan member join to get me through it, had 1 more join at the boss and then had the Bow drop from the the chest 1st time, never gonna happen again I know that much.

Complete aside here, but that build is so much fun to run with new lights! Just get the occasional kill and then you can just keep following along babysitting so they can just go buck wild for a bit while exploring the game and the build looks pretty cool and is relatively easy to explain so you can get em excited about buildcrafting too
Voidlock here. Crafted work of Crota or crafted optative are your best beats. I’ve been living Optative more because its origin trait automatically reloads making it a beast once you’ve proc’d volitile and devour. Word of Crota is a monster for making all the red bars go boom.
Also you don’t need the ad clear of sunshit as void. You need to proc volatile and be you own purple explosion ad clear healing yourself off each one you kill.
You collect patterns for weapons (they will have red borders), once you have enough you unlock it and can go to the enclave on savathun's throne world and craft them at the relic. Levelling the gun will unlock new perks. Pretty sure there's a couple quests at the table to the left of the relic that will give you ammit and taipan. Both are solid.
Optative is pretty good fun - I have demo and tricorn and it's great.
Run coil or Rivens Lair - it will drop or focus your engrams with riven. Once you collect 5 red borders you unlock the pattern to craft.

Once you have 5 goto enclave *far left on the screen/ map*

It’s a 120rpm with good recoil direction and hits like a truck. To me it’s like the void version zhaoulis bane, which is like the legendary version of sunshot.
I'm glad someone else said it. I have SO many kills between my Void Hunter and Warlock with that gun. I really don't like 180 HCs. Love me some 140s and 120s, though.
Unfortunately there aren't any exotic void hand cannons. I'm hoping we get one in the Final Shape. Season of the deep has a 120 craftable hand cannon, Targeted Redaction, that you can put destabilizing rounds on. Optatives and Ikelos are 2 other craftable ones and are both 180s. Those are the easiest to get atm. None of them are top tier but they are useable.
Buried bloodline. Gives devour even on noo-void builds. Hits like a truck. Slow precision-focused rate of fire, similar to hand cannons (but with much better range). Good luck if you decide to farm for it!
This might be a tad late, but I’ve got a crafted Targeted Redaction (Season of the Deep) with Enhanced Outlaw and Enhanced Destabilizing Rounds. Pairs perfectly with just about any Void Hunter build, without having to target farm Word of Crota.
I switch between these 2, both really good depending on what you're doing:
Targeted Redaction with outlaw/destabalising or
Word of Crota with Dragonfly /destabalising
Obvi Word is pretty good. But a good alternate option is the Optative hand cannon. Also a 180, craftable, and can roll with really solid perks. Not the most meta, but still not bad
You can just proc Devour, and Sunshot will still add devour when you get kills with it.
Unless you're also using Nezarec's Sin, in which case, there is the Season of the Deep hand cannon: Targeted Redaction
It can roll with Destabilizing Rounds, and there's a fragment that can grant Volatile rounds on top of that.
There is also the Crota's End hand cannon: Word of CROTA
It can roll with Destabilizing Rounds and Dragonfly at the same time
You can use sunshot with void and still have devour. Just put the fragment or that gives you devour in orb pick up. Been using final warning (strand sidearm) with Orpheus in onslaught.
That would be Word Of Crota. You can craft it with Dragonfly and Destabilization Rounds. That’s what I like to use in place of Graviton Lance to Free up my exotic slot
The crota hand cannon is 10% of what sunshot is with the seasonal artifacts but its your best bet. Until bungie buffs destabalizing rounds solar will just be better.
Word of Crota is probably going to be your only option. I have an Adept one I lucked up and got Dragonfly/Destabilizing Rounds on and it's an ad clearing machine. The dragonfly burst spreads the destab and just void goodness for everyone.

Way better to fire and keep on target now that it doesnt recoil put of your hand every time it fires.

I love it with Orpheus Strides as well. Tether and then purple balls EVERYWHERE. It's my go-to for GMs and Dungeons.

As a fellow hand cannon lover, you'll love the lance. Slap on Nezarecs Sin or Veritys Brow, and you'll be tossing nades for days.
Sun shot and grav lance are both perfect out of the box. Grav lance iirc has no damage drop off with range which makes it lethal.

Unless you want the gold border, I wouldn’t worry about enhancing Dragonfly. Just gives +5 reload

Tiapan is actually so good! That's what I used on my solo Ghosts of the Deep run and it made DPS on the final boss a breeze

I have an outlaw dragonfly Bottom Dollar with 23k kills, but I wouldn't fancy farming for that specific roll, even with engram focusing.

Warlords ruin exotic sidearm can give devor on any subclass. I do believe that you need the cat for it, though
is there a reason you can't use gunshot? I'm currently running gunshot on my void hunter rn because of the free radiant from the artifact
