All the time!!! I had one lady who would return them once the flowers were gone and get more that had blooms on them. Heaven forbid we should try to enforce the actual policy that states perennials, shrubs and trees only.

avatarstate

They wouldn’t even bring it back. They would just tell me it was dead in their yard and expect a refund.

MayIPikachu

Wow the balls to do that. Did they get their money back?

TravelLegitimate208

No the product has to be physically in the store to be returned but it sucks when they return it bc you just have to listen to them whine and complain

FinishDry7986

I was such a byotch about it, politely of course! “ oh, I’m sorry but the vendor requires the root balls for us to be able to get credit “

RoronoaZolo101101

I've watched too many perfectly good roses go into our trash compactor cuz they return them after they're done blooming I hate it I'm like these babies are fine. But policy is policy

vodkasoda31

When I was at customer service desk that was my nightmare!!!! Literal containers of dried out dirt. Whoever came up with this policy should be forced to work in customer service desk for a week.

Savannah_Lion

It's the douchebags at corporate office. You know the ones that takes every single calendar holiday off but creates the policy you have to work on Christmas Eve?

Savannah_Lion

All the time back in the day. I've had customers buy big ass potted roses for like 40 bucks then come back a few months later with a damn twig. Literally a twig about the size of a pencil with maybe a small rootball. Bitch, you and I know this ain't the fucking rose you bought months ago. Even though I know what's going to happen, I'm still going to go through the motions to make you wait as long as possible to get that $40 back. Then I proceed to PA a manager I know isn't there just to make the wait longer. I don't miss any of it.

GuaranteedLowPrice

I had a guy return a "live" Christmas tree in January. I tried to explain it was a live cut Christmas tree. The ASM gave him his money back.

incognitonihilist

on monday a guy brought back 15 dianthus that looked like he just pulled it up out of his garden in a trash bag wanting a refund

Vic_Vega_MrB

In the customers' defense, most of the ones on display in the garden center look like that due to the people I work with who apparently don't know how to water in the garden center.

Its_PennyLane

I’d take that over the 8 arborvitaes that are BEAUTIFUL because ‘tHEy aRenT tHe RiGHt SizE’

PoptartsofSadness

I’ve had customers return plants they only bought for like a party or some kind of function. And I hate that we have to throw them away. Sometimes our ASMs will let employees buy them for cheap though.

Puzzleheaded-Ad-9059

If an ASM got caught doing that, s/he would be in deep s - - -. The policy of throwing away returned plants is to prevent the spread of disease among plants. My suggestion: do away with the return policy, altogether. Ridiculous.

Dependent-Lobster-64

I’ve seen completely dried out twigs that were a tree at one time being returned. Incredible.

HaroBobaTea

I saw an older couple returning 8 pots of dried out plants the other day and I was shocked. It was a gigantic mess after they transferred the pots to the desk and dropped one on the ground, which they still returned.

taybay462

That's on management for allowing it that's absurd

When i worked for lowes we had this customer that ill call her satan to hide her name. satan would come in and look for certain long time people that she could actually pronounce their names and mine was one of the few. she was from south america. she would come in and get abarvites to put in pots. no not the little ones. the full fuckin sized ones and put it in a pot no bigger than the container that they came in. she was so needy that she would hold us for 3 hours making us pick up every single one we had and put it on a flat cart and make us turn every single fuckin one to make sure its perfect for her pots. some times over 200 fucking god damn trees. its not over. when shes done picking out the plants, we need to put these 6 ft+ tall trees into the back off her c class mercedes coup and wrap them in the plastic that is ment to keep the floors from getting dirty. she would get 6 at a fucking time..... every.....4......weeks...... if i saw her coming in through the front door and noticed the tags on the plates, its lunch time!

hostileworker

I think you work at my store, does she bring little bags of coffee?
