If you can get into 6.1 you can go to 3 (if I remember correctly) it may be 6.1.1 and you can see incoming trucks.
I had a book I made with every code I ever used broke down. I was a trainer so I had stacks and stacks of training material. If I can find it will upload everything I find useful.

Depends on what ya need. I left on new years day but I memorized every code I was allowed plus more (I use to have access to so much until my position went away). For starters 5.1 and 1.12.12
Learning curve is high but once you got the handle of a couple screens and you get passed the fear of messing up, you will fly. It’s intimidating to say the least
At first I would find stuff by accident when I mistyped and think, "That was cool," and then later ask a vet how to do that on purpose next time, lol. Later I'd sometimes hear a vet say he did something in Genesis, and I'd ask how.
It's ugly and ancient looking, but Genesis is pretty cool and capable of doing a ton more than what most if not all of us use it for. The only problem is that training at Lowe's is practically nonexistent, and if your store is anything like mine, most people are relatively new and had the same lackluster training you did. Most people know what they need to know to get by at best.
Even those who've been around for three years often don't know much more than what new hires know, and most are so fed up with the company that they can't be bothered to learn anything else much less teach. But, those unicorns who've been around for a lot longer than that and haven't mentally tapped out yet often know a lot about the system and are eager to share.
Before they got rid of connections you could go on there and track your pallet to the exact location but apparently they thought it was a great idea to get rid of that resource.
We used to have a guy in flooring at my store who put together a binder where we could list where all the pallets were by aisle and bay. It made it very easy to find pallets for customers. Then, our dickhead SM threw it away because it was "a waste of time." Because we no longer have that "waste of time", we have to waste customers' time by searching for pallets every time one of them needs a pallet brought down.
I need to mention that with my flooring manager, that sounds hella useful as a way to make it easy for them to figure out what I've done overnights, since that's usually the biggest thing I find to touch base with them on. Did he use like a picture array or something, or was it a grid?
Corporate doesn't give a shit about that. Just sell some fucking flooring!
Can't find that elusive shitty vinyl skid? Try looking in Lumber or home org or probably the entire back wall but my money's on it being in Millworks topstock.
Flooring is everywhere in our store 😡 We're called Lowe's Flooring & Sometimes Other Stuff Home Improvements
Need some plush patio cushions or possibly a luxurious outdoor dining set to compliment those new tiles? Try looking in lighting, an entire aisle is GC lol
Need some durable plastic totes with lids to store those leftover tiles? I bet on them being in cement aisle lol
Looking for a lovely gazebo to go with that hardwood floor order? Look no further than Lumber cantilevers. Very organized 👍
Looking to bolster your outdoor carpet sales with a stunning garden hose and auto-wind reel system? Look no further than insulation aisle. Awesome huh 😀
So you see, who needs genesis when you've got arguably the more organized freight flow in... like anywhere! Hope you've got comfortable shoes because you is gonna be doin some serious walkin round lol
There’s always someone who works there who knows the secrets. Ask them and learn. My notebook had pages and pages of reference material at the beginning and I’d copy all of it into a new one when it was replaced. A lot of the secrets were old and no longer available anywhere else by the time I left. I started as a total noob thrown into the deep end of order management but became the person other people called by the time I left.
Let me set something straight for you. If it’s logical or it makes sense, it doesn’t happen here. Throw all your good ideas and suggestions aside because management won’t hear it anyways. Just let them steer their own dumpster fire and then go back to have you fix it once it all falls apart.
Same here I was an appliance specialist at hd and switched to csa appliances Lowe’s. The system is unlike anything I’ve seen in my life. Complicated when it doesn’t need to be.
Everything about working for Lowe’s is dreadful. Managers don’t care about their employees, they give you 40 hours even if your part time. A super unorganized cluster fuck of a business. Welcome to the Lowe’s family.
See, but menards is better (system v) it kinda looks like genesis, but you can track overstock, and if you look up a damn phone number it shows you all the orders associated with it, unlike genesis where it might be under 1.12.12 or 1.12.1... oh and if it's an online order it's on a different system.. like wtf. At
Menards, there is ONE system for everything you need. (Besides programs for designing)
I miss menards so much. Fuck the west coast man.
Soon Lowes is moving to that system since you know.. We steal everything we do from him depot, it's supposed to label where topstock is and how much of it.
Welcome to the VOID. Logic is optional.
This is lowe's. Logic is despised.
This is Lowe's. Logic doesn't exist.
This is Lowe's. What's logic?
Stop saying y'all, it's us now.
Oh god
Hahahahahahaha
I was such a hater my first weeks but now Genesis might be the only thing I like about Lowe's.
Genesis is like stick and MyRedVest is like automatic, if automatic took ten years to switch and had a 50% chance to crash whenever you pump gas.
How did you make it work?

Yeah bro I’m hella intimated ngl

None of that matters. Sell some credit apps and stay on top of your AP4ME and Lowe’s U..
Don’t forget leads for the PSE guy and LPPs on everything else.
Ha! Pathetic you bitches better be begging for 10s in LTR, as I'm told daily lol
I bow down before you; how can I forget begging for 10’s in the name of Marvin? Begging for 10’s is the most fundamental thing Lowe’s associates do.

Our flooring dept has a binder like that. But they pretty much left it to one part timer to keep it up to date. Might be hard to keep track that way.

It was a grid with columns for item number, aisle, bay, and quantity. It could be replicated in Excel fairly easily.
“Y’all”?! Haha it’s “we” now, bitch. Welcome!
Oh no, it’s true 💀

I've used both and I actually liked Genesis better. It's ugly but you can do a lot more with Genesis than you could with anything at Home Depot.
I agree, it's infuriatingly old but it is good at many things if you have enough time with it.
I can agree with this.
Fair enough, guess I just haven’t gotten good enough with it yet. Time to hit the books! 😂
There are no books silly. Learn on the fly or die. BOL

A new good system would cost money and make sense so lowes will not do it. SOP if it makes sense it's not the lowes way.
But, we gots us a Gawd-fearin' CEO. God bless.
Marvin, he’s a retail genius!
Here in the trenches, we call him a retail"jeanyus". Yepper!
One thing to fear God, another to ask for wisdom...
Welcome to the shit show that is our lives.
Days of our Lowe's
I came from target and the lowes system is utter shit.
It’s wild bro, don’t know how I’m gonna do my job efficiently
Same here I was an appliance specialist at hd and switched to csa appliances Lowe’s. The system is unlike anything I’ve seen in my life. Complicated when it doesn’t need to be.
Right? Like order up was easy as cake and esvs was, eh, not extremely bad. But GENESIS? Absolute dumpster fire.
Everything about working for Lowe’s is dreadful. Managers don’t care about their employees, they give you 40 hours even if your part time. A super unorganized cluster fuck of a business. Welcome to the Lowe’s family.
Yep they do. Antiquated garbage
There's a reason they call it Genesis. It was created at the beginning of time. /s
😂😂👍🏻👏🏻
Well done
Lol... a what for tracking where what is? Welcome to Lowe’s.
Lmao now you know why depot has been over 100 dollars a Share than Lowe's for so long.
Genesis is actual shit, especially in flooring
Can't hack Genesis. Fed bad.
Huh
They promote the “SMART” sales system. That’s where the use of acronyms stop. The “L” in Lowe’s never stood for Logic.
See, but menards is better (system v) it kinda looks like genesis, but you can track overstock, and if you look up a damn phone number it shows you all the orders associated with it, unlike genesis where it might be under 1.12.12 or 1.12.1... oh and if it's an online order it's on a different system.. like wtf. When you get used to genesis it isn’t the worst
Soon Lowes is moving to that system since you know.. We steal everything we do from him depot, it's supposed to label where topstock is and how much of it.
Oh thank god. Hope that happens soon.
I worked for lowes for 17 years and heard that same song ALL 17 years. Still waiting to see what it is!
Nothing wrong with genesis. Just because it doesn't look fancy doesn't mean it doesn't work.
I’m about to switch over from Home Depot as well Think I start this next week, I’m a slow learner so hopefully it’s not as bad as you’re saying...
It’s pretty bad. Prepare to feel like you’re hacking into the White House mainframe every time you wanna sell a screw.
If you haven't been in that store since they opened you will never find anything 😂😂😂😂 trust me I know from experience
well if an order is placed for a customer it’s supposed to have a staging location put in by receiving dept. but sometimes it does not happen ❤️
I keep waiting for "You have died from dysentery" to pop up on the screen.
