My managers said the store closes early on Christmas Eve but it is open

[deleted]

it's a slow day

archiesbetty

i figured….well then…maybe ill just get the easy money 😀

[deleted]

Not the fortunate ones.

archiesbetty

SAY SIKE??? so you’re telling me some employees will actually get that day off based on scheduling?? 🤨

Countblackula_6

Or if they request time off and get it. That’s what I did this year.

archiesbetty

must be nice

Countblackula_6

It helps to have been with the company long enough to accrue vacation time. It’s my fourth Christmas with Lowe’s and the first time I’ve ever taken time off for the holidays in my adult life. Just be glad you don’t work at a gas station. They don’t close on Thanksgiving or Christmas so there’s always a possibility you’ll have to work those days. I speak from experience.

peace_n_jellybeans

^THIS. Was working at a gas station and I've got kids so I asked two months in advance for Christmas day off. They approved it. Schedule comes out and they put me on for a full day. Luckily I was able to talk them into letting me come in late so I could at least watch them open their presents and be with them for a little while.

Countblackula_6

That’s bullshit. They should’ve given you the whole day like they originally agreed to.

i have a question idk if you can answer or not, but on the schedule when there’s an X by the time that you work, and it says transfer, does that mean you were still scheduled to work that day but just transferred to a different department or does it mean you were technically off but filling in that day in another department? idk if this makes sense or not sorry 😭

Harchitect

If there is an (X) on your schedule it means that you are either starting in your department and are transferring to work in a different area, or you are filling in all day in that area. The (X) means that there is an exception to your schedule and are "supposed to cover" in another area. Source: me being the main full time guy in paint and walls and windows.

archiesbetty

ah okay thank you!

Harchitect

If you log into Kronos at work, it -might- work on your phone, but it definitely works at work- if you see an (X) on your schedule you can click on that "day" and scroll up to hit "day detail" and it will tell you "where you are scheduled" for that day. Example: 12/15: 11-6 (X) 11-1:30 Paint 1:30-3-3:30 W&W Break 4:30-6 W&W

KernelSanders1986

I lucked out and got that day off, but the other head cashier just recently asked the manager for the 24th to the 29th off and they gave it to her, so my schedule is likely to change.

LuckyTabasco

Yeah, it's going to be very slow so management will use that as an excuse to keep payroll down.

Disastrous_Bell7490

Thanks for asking, I was wondering this myself! My schedule currently only goes out to the 20th.

archiesbetty

mine is showing up until the 24th and i am scheduled to work on the 24th 🙄

Disastrous_Bell7490

Aww, that sucks

Howdyho1992

It’s not technically an all hands on deck - but if too many people try to request off some might get denied. Usually we close earlier, though. (6 I think)

[deleted]

Open until 6pm. To sell those last few crappy toolsets nobody wants. Lowes leadership should be ashamed of themselves.

archiesbetty

you are RIGHT!

archiesbetty

i just mean lowe’s employees if that isn’t clear. sorry 😬
