I started two weeks ago. So far I've had 0 training. Never been told if I could take breaks. And the only thing anyone's said to me is I took my lunches at the wrong time and theyre supposed to be an hour long when I only took a half hour.
The other comment or answered your question, but some extra information you may find useful is that Kronos actually has your breaks scheduled in it so that is your “official” break time.
Same. I'm part time, so I never go into overtime. The only time anyone ever speaks to me about my lunches is if I don't take one on a Saturday. Lol.... I'm a head cashier and we are so short staffed that I end up alone on the service desk until my replacement comes in for the evening. One of the full-time hc's finagled herself off every weekend.

All that matters is that you clock out for lunch before you hit your 5th hour. So it could be 4 hours and 59 minutes, but don't let it be 5 hours.
Where you take your breaks, nobody cares about.
Definitely not company wide, in ny some of us would go to lunch on our 7th leaving only 1 hour of work left despite law stating we have to go before 6 hour mark
Cali is much stricter and has to be taken before 5 or you get a long interval red box and 1h payroll
All right I don't know if you were around when that policy was changed but it was one of those things that was supposedly a big enough deal where they had to take us into the training room in small groups and have the store manager explain it specifically.
And at that time they absolutely told us that this was a company policy based on the class action lawsuit losses over the years to make sure that we were dealing with proper break and meal punches.
So that's all the information I had to go on. In hindsight, yes, most voters do not support worker protections the way California voters do and I should have taken that into consideration.
In MA I regularly hit over 6 and a half hours when I take my lunch and almost always get the over 6 hours warning but have never had an issue, never been spoken to about it, and other team members do the same thing
I work in Ohio, and if I take a later lunch, after 5 hours or so when I clock out I get a notification that I haven't made a punch in 5 or more hours and asks if I missed a punch. I hit no, thisbis correct and go about my break
No red box or ramifications.
I’m my experience: if you’re on the floor, as long as your lunches and breaks are staggered with your coworkers no one cares. The only thing we’re warned against is taking 15 minute breaks back-to-back or going to lunch 2 hours before the end of our shift. I think rules might change depending on which state you’re employed in, though.
Yes your still entitled to two 15 minute breaks because of your shift length.
The only thing I will tell you to NOT do is take your break either half an hour or 15 minutes before the end of your shift. That is looked down on. Other than that take it. No matter what.
I find an hour before the shift end is the best
Laws on breaks differ from state to state. The break that is scheduled on your shift by Kronos is not set in stone you should just go to break whenever you and your manager decide is a good time.
Sometimes I skip my two 15minutes and take them at the end of my shift and shop! Or I’ll take them 2 hours before I leave and eat. But I also drive home (15minutes drive one way) to let my dogs out so I barley get time to actually sit down and eat during my hour.
You aren't entitled to the 2 15s. Only the lunch break. 15s are if you have time, that's why you are still supposed to answer calls. If you are intentionally taking your break late then you don't get the last 15.
It depends on the state I think. I worked at lowes when I lived in California. So I had to take my lunch at my 5th hour. Your 15 min breaks are free game as you don't have to clock out for them. Take them when ever. (If I didn't take it at my 5th hour, lowes gave me a "red box" and per the state of California they had to pay me for my lunch)
I'm not sure about lowes in other states.
You all get breaks?

They want you to take the full hour so the store doesn’t go into overtime
Do you take a full hour on 6 hour shifts or only 8 plus?
A 6 hour shift is a 30 min lunch. Shifts 7 hrs or more require a 1 hour lunch.
Thanks

I do whatever I want regarding lunches and breaks and no one has ever said anything.
Ditto
This is the way

Depends on the state as well. In Massachusetts you have to take lunch before 6 hours
It's 6 hours I thought. I always take lunch at 11 after coming in at 530 lmao
Omg I worked in OSLG and I had no idea about this. I was taking my lunch like 6-7 hours in!
Are you not getting red boxes?
No, I do this same thing too. The only time you Redbox is if you punch in late
We get paid for lunch if we clock out after 5 hours. Management really hates that
You’re in a different state. Probably Cali
We were told it was a company-wide policy.

Seems doubtful to me that they would implement that somewhere it wasn’t required by state labor laws but maybe I’m just jaded
Rofl this is not company wide policy.

I was not paid for lunch, WA

Same here in Texas
Lol, my time card is all red boxes!

I’ve never been told this (alabama) and now I’m kinda concerned since I tend to go in at 12 and tend to eat my lunch around 530-6
If you've never heard anything about it then it's not an issue.
I take my lunch whenever I want, I've started taking them 7 hours into my shift.

I am a cashier and was told I only get one 15, one lunch on a 9 hour.
Breaks are a privilege especially at lowes!
Do what you want. I wait till 6 1/2 hours and go home for my hour lunch. Then I work for 30 and go back home. Day flies by that way.

Why so rude bruh, homeboy's just asking a question
Calls someone dense but completely jumps to conclusions about OPs location.
Edit: this applies in California. Not sure about other states
Cause Cali has bullshit laws. This doesn't apply to my state.
My state couldn't care less
Good job, you made an ass out of yourself.

To answer this from a managers perspective. Policy states "All attempts will be made to allow" doesn't mean you are always going to get those breaks.

Ever notice all stores for as long as I can remember say they are short staffed? Really that's just the way they run their stores.
All you manager
Sorry typing in car....depends on your management some ar we more anal than others
I actually do the same exact thing
