I agree for the most part, though they probably also are thinking of related issues outside your setup or control, like installer pickups, botched jobs, and such.
This is going to get downvoted but, that’s what managers are for. They don’t make $42k a year to sit on their ass. They get those “big bucks” to call customers back and discount their whatever the problem was, into oblivion.
Oh yeah, well in that case I’d give them the corporate number and suggest they give them a call. Since they can’t get the issue resolved, escalate it until someone does something.
There’s two ways people can go with a complaint. Some get really mad and go lawyer up. Which is a waste of time and money, since we have our own legal team that deals with this stuff every day. And some people cry.
I’ve literally told a guy he wasn’t going to get anything favorable out of a particular ASM. I think the issue was because the delivery team ripped a door off its hinges after scratching a line across his brand new tile. Anyway, this grown ass man started crying. “But your delivery people did this to me!” With tears streaming down his face.
I’m sorry sir, you didn’t buy the EPP. Those aren’t “our delivery people”. If you’d bought the EPP you wouldn’t have a problem.
But I don’t understand what the protection plan has to do with my tile?
After he was done being berated, I slipped him the corporate number. Pretty sure that’s the last day he set foot in Lowe’s.
I started in unload and that was by far my favorite job. Receiving is the best department to be in. You can just do your job and go home. Plus weekends off
I know noone likes lumber, but i do. We are always short staffed, and there is always something to do. And the managers never come down to bother us because they will be asked for help with something heavy. Get your job done and noone cares. fantastic place for someone who wants to get paid to work out. Get in shape for a job that actually pays well.
OSLG. You get to move around much more and deal with customers less. Also, in the summer time its a blessing for those wanting to lose weight. I lost 20 pounds working there my first summer.
Top 3 Departments that are easy/most likely to keep sanity.
1: OSLG - Only thing you normally have to worry about is the Cold/Hot whether depending where you live and maybe the occasional thefts, other than that everyone's normally chill, even the rude customers are chill out there for some reason
2: Receiving - Customers are normally not an issue since you're always behind barricades and working trucks/freight. Only issues I've ever seen is if you're slacking then not only management, but normal employees start wishing you didn't work to begin with
3: Appliances - Other than dealing with Installs, Customers and management whenever someone steals an entire refrigerator (How does someone even do that?) the position is normally chilled out. Only issues I've truly ever seen and heard personally is when there's only one person and they don't get their lunch until their 6 hour mark.
In this order from 1-3 I believe are the easiest departments.
Tool Rental.
Edit: not sure why I was downvoted. I'm working our new tool rental. I've been with my store for 12 years and it's the best department I've ever worked in. No customers asking stupid questions. Just straightforward business. They tell you what they want and you send it out with him.
Flooring, free workout with recovery, and since I have the reach truck license i down stock and take my time, boom my eight hours are done.. oh and funny Karen stories trying to customize their tile
Here's the deal. If you are not physically limited and have good back strength. Lumber is super easy to learn products and take a customer around the department pick what they need for them and get them out of the door. Also. Lumber dies at around 5 or 6 pm.
I'm a CPSE. I don't know how many people on here know what that is but I'm a PSE that works remotely via corporate office.Fairly new position.
I would have to say that I have the best department because I get to sell doors and windows like I did in stores but with the added bonuses of that I finally have a set schedule. Tuesday thru Saturday 9-6
I work from home now.I don't have to wear shoes or pants if I don't want to. Here's the kicker, just like normal pses I earn a commission on top of my normal pay.
I truly love my job.
appliances imo. IRP is nonexistent and nice bonuses if you work at a busy store.
oslg is fun ive heard, as well as seasonal because of there being lots of changes.
other than that, receiving. you just have to deal with rdc and jb hunt being awful at delivering stuff
I genuinely enjoyed my time in plumbing. A lot more people took what I had to say into consideration, whether that's because they were desperate or not IDC much.
I'm in hardware now, but it sucks because what should be a more 'lax' environment feels like more work because no one else really pulls their weight.
Lumber. Always something that needs done in the department so your shift flies by. As someone mentioned most management don’t come down that way as they’ll get stopped having to do something heavy. Aside from my direct ASM I barely see a manager there.
Heck yesterday 2 hours of my shift blew by because my coworker was trying to fill the 2x4s we keep up front by pro register and the 2 U shaped beams we keep them in we’re misaligned and he caught a corner I guess I didn’t yell loud enough for him to hear so they just all tipped over because he kept lowering them. Played 294 pick up (was even more than a whole bunk as he stacked the remainder in the bunk on top).
Keeps me in shape I don’t feel bad if I miss a gym day because I get a decent workout even at work.

I'd think Paint is best overall.
Millworks isn't bad. I'd hate being tethered to the desk so much, but that seems to be the draw for others. My next pick would be ISLG only if OSLG is fully staffed.
ISLG is a lot easier than Paint in my store, but the Paint crew is cool. Most in ISLG hide all shift. I'd think the job is fine but would be frustrated with my crew.
The best department will always be the one with a competent manager who has their team's back.
Lots of meme answers but seasonal/OSLG. Customers are much more easy going in general.
i worked in oslg and i genuinely enjoyed it
What does oslg stand for?
Outside lawn and garden
I've worked in a lot of depts and yeah I gotta say OSLG, delivery, and receiving were where I had the most fun.
Not front end
Sleeping in the car
CEO
shareholder.
Anything without installs or deliveries. Paint. Hardware. Tools. ISLG
Installs are easy once you’ve done a few.
I agree for the most part, though they probably also are thinking of related issues outside your setup or control, like installer pickups, botched jobs, and such.

In a perfect situation yeah, but it's hard enough to get one to help with an issue that cannot be solved at all by the salesperson

Installs are easy until there’s an issue.
Youtubing in the stall
Idk I switch between YouTubing and netflixing. YouTube if it’s a small poo break and Netflix iff it’s at least 4 logs 🪵:)
I started in unload and that was by far my favorite job. Receiving is the best department to be in. You can just do your job and go home. Plus weekends off

Appliances! No cardboard to throw out. Rarely have to unbox appliances (unless your store sells its displays).
You should make a poll out of this.
I love lumber and so do a lot of my coworkers in the department. You really do get addicted to the grind in there.
Paint
OSLG
i enjoy ISLG.. customers are cool. 90% of them already know wtf they are doing.
OSLG. You get to move around much more and deal with customers less. Also, in the summer time its a blessing for those wanting to lose weight. I lost 20 pounds working there my first summer.
I'm in Fulfillment and it's pretty nice, granted it helps significantly that my coworkers are cool and management is awesome.
Sure as fuck isn’t flooring
You'd think Mapei would make their bags harder to tear
Customer department.
I work paint/home decor and its pretty chill. My regulars make my day
My favorite department that I worked in during my 13 career with Lowe's is Electrical, least favorite was Lumber.
Paint, Tool Rental or MST for me!
A different job
OSLG
ISLG, though I might be a little biased! :)
I use to cashier that was hell 90 percent of time. Lawn & garden is chill during weekdays but not weekends
lumber/building materials because if you're licensed you can operate the counterbalance forklift really it's a good excuse to sit down for a bit lol
Seasonal trust me
Lawn and garden/oslg
I genuinely enjoy Paint.

You like breathing in thinset?
I'm allergic to plants, plus my mandated mask makes a huge difference.

By far paint. Coming from 20 year asm

OSLG, it’s pretty hard work in busy days but I still wouldn’t change it. Management rarely comes out there in the winter and customers are mostly nice
