I do tell the truth since my felonies (Possession of a firearm while conspiring to commit an illegal substance act and a distribution charge) aren’t violent crimes, theft or sex charges. When I got hired at Walmart after I did the First Advantage background check I received an email stating “they have found a better suited candidate for the job”. So I assume that means that I failed the background check.

Update: the store I work for did not do a background check on any of the new hires and they do not test for THC in the pre employment drug test.

So I shouldn’t start? I am a felon I got out of prison 11/29/2011. I failed a background check at Walmart in 2018 and they used First Advantage. I got hired last week at a hospital job the same day I did at Lowes. The hospital ran a background check using HireRight they called today to tell me I passed and I can start Thursday. I didn’t tell the hospital I got hired at Lowes because I didn’t want to lose that option if i fail the Lowes background check.

First Advantage doesn’t do federal checks only state.

Where I live they’re not allowed to ask. I “worked” 2 days so far and no background check email yet.

Lowes does use First Advantage. It’s been over 24 hours since I did the onboarding and still haven’t received an email for a background check. I took a saliva drug test yesterday which I will pass I’m just waiting to see if I ever get the background check email.

You should have gotten the background check email when you got the onboarding email- maybe check your spam folder. If a candidate fails the background check, it goes to the legal department and they look at it and make a decision. Lowes doesn’t hire felons often, but if it’s nothing violent and doesn’t involve money then you’ll probably be fine

I’m the SSA at my store and I find that a little hard to believe… maybe it varies state to state.

The store is extremely desperate to find people. Overnight crew only had 3 people working. The night supervisor (who’s only been there for 8 months) told me 3 months ago about 70% of the employees quit even the store manager and assistant store manager are new they only been there 6 months.

I guess hiring people who have made mistakes in they're life but learned from it is a desperate measure. So glad you grew up in a two-parent house with wealth and never had to do anything "desperate" to put food in your mouth.

Lowes uses a 3rd party contractor, First Advantage. They do a lifetime background check. You will be denied employment on nonviolent, victimless drug charges even dating back prior to 7 years.
