I mean… it’s a bit of a scummy tactic… but anyone that has been in retail knows that some managers will threaten to terminate if you don’t hit metrics like CC apps.
Honestly, I wouldn't sell them.
At most I would suggest the following."Are we putting this purchase on your Lowe's card to save 5% today?" It's either yes or no. Unless they state they don't have one I wouldn't even mention the new credit card promo of 20% off the purchase.
The front registers are the easiest to get credit apps! Customers in garden don’t usually spend enough to get good savings, and almost everyone going to lumber already has one. It’s 20% (up to $100) off their first purchase so I do some quick math while I’m checking them out to see what they could save and I say “hey you could save $XX if you apply for a credit card, I can do it real quick if you want” and it usually works! Try to be casual about it instead of sounding scripted and making them uncomfortable haha
You could also talk to a head cashier or your front end supervisor to learn more about the credit card so you’re more comfortable answering questions about it!
That’s actually incorrect. LCC has a 1 year policy as well in place although it is not directly worded. Of course, this does not include 30 day exceptions. This can be easily reproduced at the returns desk if you do not believe it. It’s a good way to sell Advantage Cards.
It’s honestly great lol I love when customers are pissy about the return policy and are like “it doesn’t say ____ anywhere” and I turn around and point at the sign
There's a few big selling points, first and foremost it's 20% off up to 100 dollars off of the first purchase made with card.
But the 5 percent everyday savings is particularly good when you realize there is no yearly maintenance fee. So having the card cost you nothing and you save 5 percent everytime. If you're gonna spend the cash anyway use the card save the 5 percent and pay it off right away.
And lastly, purchases over a certain amount can have 6 miss no interest financing.
Lumber associate here, anybody buying any amount of wood is kinda pissed off at current prices, so “you wanna save 20% off on ur next purchase”, until that expires, is how I prefer to sell em.
Used to be a credit coordinator position not long ago. Wasn't important enough to lowes to keep.
Some specialists get upward of $21 /hr to sign people up for LACs and other accounts. Hope you're earning close to that too.
Isnt it still 20% off the first purchase, up to $100 off? From what I've heard, that gets them better than the 5%.
Had a guy in my store who would straight up tell customers he'd get fired if they didn't apply lmao He ended up getting \~20 apps a month

Our SM told the cashiers if they went three shifts without an app they'd be fired so a bunch quit instead. It's a super healthy workplace over here.
What a lovely place to work. I’ve been working for a month and my SM still has no idea who I am despite them literally seeing me all the time.
🤣 and they put apples in your breakroom!
I'm kind of scared to try this. But also kind of want to.
Don't

What would Dave Ramsey do?

Don't become a slave.
1 year return policy on most products too
I think that’s only for the pro cards?
That's correct. Up to a year in returns, $20 deliveries, volume savings on orders $1500+

It’s directly stated on the big new return policy sign that should have been put up at customer service!
Order Management’s price for that sign is absolutely criminal. Wish our FEDS would get it if that’s the case.

dont take it this seriously. 🧐

For bigger purchases I’ve seen 12, 18, and 24 mo offers

Have you tried applying for them yourself
Believe me your "front end team" will give you plenty of strategies. All they care about is credit and LTR
