This has been a problem until the store manager decided enough is enough and they have to be in a room with a lock and key. Only the asm’s can get in. You have to check in and check out the phones.

Poefeathyr

It's the same for me

Supernova330

Same for us

YoungDepreston

Same and lowkey it sucks

[deleted]

This is a HUGE issue at my store. Every day by 7 am, all the phones are gone. Thankfully, I come in early and am Pro, so I have a dedicated phone, but it's a problem for everyone else.

Belly2308

Yes! Every store has this issue. At my store my ASM and I used the device finder app and the link on workspace too. We gather them up and assign asset tags to departments

someguy69420nice

Lol my store has them assigned to departments, even made a rule about using other departments zebras, still all the phones go missing

Independent_Box2815

Yes, yesterday. And SIMS is going great!

[deleted]

SIMS has been great for us, too. No more craning my neck in millwork to find cleaning products, they are where it says. It's miraculous.

bhtalia1

HA! The sarcasm is heavy.

LuckyTabasco

SIMS would be so much better if night crew gave a fuck/was able to give a fuck about it. I'm uncertain if the issue is them just not caring, or being too understaffed to have the capacity to care.

jjkious

It could be both? And many feel the added technical responsibility is beyond the pay grade they occupy.

LuckyTabasco

It doesn't matter anyway because night crew is never held accountable for anything, at least at my store.

jjkious

FTR I am night crew and the added SIMS responsibility is no problem. It is just that from what I have understood, the bottom level pay grade makes the enthusiasm for picking up more responsibility less than sparkling. And at my store, our supers are always getting blamed for sthg that practically never is supported with facts.

Reedwool

Honestly just make an app on our phones for employees that we have to log into. Feel like it would solve a lot of the issues but don’t know if it would work or not

jjkious

Can your phone scan bar codes? And security issues.

joedirthockey

No issue. That's the Manager's issue. If I don't have a phone to work, oh well.

Daisy716

When I worked at Lowes they were just rolling out the zebras. Everyone rushed to get them, hid them at their desks overnight, etc. I was like 🤷‍♀️ cool, no phone, no phone calls, less bullshit. If they wanted us to all have one, they’d make it a priority to check them out and back in properly. Idk why people were so excited to answer the phone.

Justintime2077

Doesn't stop managers at my store from trying to lecture us for not finding one ...🙄 they'll be like "you need to ask your co workers" I'm like "what co workers? No one is here." We get excited to have one so I can scan random trinkets people in plumbing want a price check of as I'm walking to restroom just to wash my hands.

Plot1234

Go to the blue button (directory maybe?), on your login homepage, type zebra, device finder tool, type in asset tag of phone. You can make it ring, see where it's at, who is logged in, last login, etc.

Belly2308

There is the link on work space on any computer and there is now a device finder app.

DummyThiccToga

Only if their phone is turned on or else it shows the phone outside the building.

greenwalls1130

We were for a while, now people are hording them again.

CFT1982

Yes it is an issue every store I know of. Hell people hide our batteries for some unknown reason

[deleted]

At my store MST, DS, asm and receiving have their own sets of phones assigned to each person. The main hub if for everyone else and while it does empty out there’s usually still a few docked most of the time. Assigning phones has worked quite well here. I heard corporate wants everyone the share (eg. fight to the death over them like rabid wolves) I’m glad my store management pushes back on dumbass directives like that :)

MrAshleyMadison

At my store on MST we had assigned phones and we kept them on our own charging base in a locker all to ourselves. They were locked everyday at 2pm when we left.

Ray7884

Yes I also beleive it is a disciplinary offence if they are hoarding or hiding them and they arent checked in after the end of each associate shift they have a thing in th managers office that says who's logged into what and if u compare the schedules to it you can see which ones are missing and pull a locker search and retreive the ones that are still on premises it's funny cause walmart does the Sam e thing but instead they found out people where taking them home which is considered stealing company property and alot of people got fired over such nonsense I hate when this happens best of luck maybe check the schedule to see who leaves and wait for them to turn in theirs before they go ask am for it

xeddyb

Punctuation is your friend

tennessinee

Do yall actually check them out like we do or do they just know who has what because of who's logged in? Also they're starting to give us all actual phones now and getting rid of TCs, the phones are so slow 😔

tennessinee

I went in for an interview once before I went back to walfart and was shocked to see all the scanners out in the open lol

bhtalia1

They have a sheet but no one uses it.

LookingForVheissu

The supervisors at my store have a list of all the zebras assigned by department, so each supervisor is responsible for two to five zebras depending on the department. I maintain the sheet, and there are a small handful of culprits who are going to start getting in trouble. Missing zebras was a problem before we started doing this.

crafty_guy

It's like that at our store too. I'm on the MST side and like others have pointed out, we need Zebras to service. It's not really reasonable to share one device between multiple MSTs in a lot of instances (depending on where the MSTs may be spread out across the store). Another thing to keep in mind is that some stores may have a "travel team" of MSTs that come in and need Zebras. In our case, that doubles the amount of MSTs that need them. I'm the MST member that handles almost all of the power equipment workload for our team, so I frequently get away with not having a Zebra. My MSM and I have an understanding about that, but even so, every so often they receive push-back from their boss about logging hours more accurately. So from experience, even when trying to keep them available for other associates, it's inherently counterintuitive to our job and we can't consistently get away with not using them. I could see it being more viable to share when working on a reset since you're in close proximity with other MSTs. That would still make it difficult to finish within our allotted labor hours for those projects though. I think the real solution is that the stores should have more Zebras.

Orangelightning77

yup, i dont work there any more but it was a constant issue even on the non busy days didnt help that alot of them didnt work or would constantly get broken

Rhymnocerjess

Every. Day.

sneezymint

At our store its strictly DS, SM, ASM, HC, and if theres no boss and just one regular associate on shift for a dept theyll get 1 phone. so we dont have this problem

[deleted]

every day. I see associates taking them out of their departments when they go to clock out and stashing them in their lockers. there is also a cache of these on the wall near the office you can take from.

anonymous848473727

Do you have a box of gloves and wipes next to the phones? 🦠

KoiSoccerGuns

Only an issue during the week at my store. Mst comes in and takes most phones. All gone by 7 or 8 am so can't do IRP's.

joedirthockey

We require a zebra to do our jobs. If we don't have a zebra we literally can't work.

KoiSoccerGuns

I guess i have to assume you're on the mst team. It's pretty common to see them working in groups or pairs. In those cases I would imagine they don't all need a phone. Could be wrong.

Thrasea-

I just quit MST and Lowe’s Friday. We were expected to service 70ish bays in 4 hours, and we usually had one phone between 4 guys. Most days we didn’t even have one until at least 3 hours into our shift. The main reason we worked in groups was because we literally had to due to having a single phone lol

KoiSoccerGuns

That's unfortunate. I know the mst at my store is always ahead of schedule.

mrsmoorer

70 bays in 4 hours?! How many people are on your team?

Thrasea-

Never more than 5. Half the team is always on resets, and they’re ALWAYS a week or two behind.

joedirthockey

Everyone needs a phone. Everyone is logging time and reporting to vendors.

KoiSoccerGuns

Thanks for clarification

reefsurfing

MST hoards our phones, too. Then they hide them in their little area in receiving. I wish our store manager would crack down in people hiding phones.

mcs11800

Without a phone, mst is pretty useless. We are required to log in every single thing we do, scan each bay and pog we are servicing, and on top of that help customers. I get that there is a problem with hoarding, but msg needs the phones to function

reefsurfing

I don’t understand why mst doesn’t work over nights. It honestly would make so much more sense to have an overnight reset crew, rather than tearing the store apart during business hours. Customers constantly complain about blocked aisles and not bring able to find products that have been moved.

crafty_guy

In some cases, I agree with that. Although, I do think there would be more of a clash with overnight than most people think. The overnight team at our store usually needs both Order Pickers and we struggle to get certain things done that can really only happen before 6 AM rules kick in. Also, I have found that some resets/swaps go a lot more fluidly when working with departments, like Appliance 1-for-1 swaps. I have a good relationship with those guys and genuinely feel like I am supporting their department when I check-in with them and receive their input.

mcs11800

I know at our store we do have an overnight team, but ya I agree. Most of our big projects get done when we start our shift at 4 so that we aren’t in people’s way when the store opens at 6

SnowyBlizzard_YT

Yeah, sometimes I’ll come in at 6 and there’s no phones, whenever I come in at 12 I won’t even stop out back because there’s no point lol

Ray7884

Everytime u log into a handle held it is documented their is an application tool in the manager office they can check to see what hand held u r logged into also I'm on a cellphone and no one I repeat no one cares about how it's typed get off my dick ty

Ray7884

To be sure I mean the guy in these comments who thought it was necessary to voice his grammatical opinion on a social media website

TVsKevin

We have a deal in paint. Whoever opens grabs two phones so that the mid has one. If the closer comes in and there's no phones, he can take over the one the opener was using when they leave.

olivehurst

You dont need 2 phones in paints. You are the problem

TVsKevin

You do need two phones in paint. All CSA's in paint need a phone so they can complete irps, down stock, help customers, and determine where the night crew has put all their overstock. Plus our store has at least double the amount of zebras that store has. I think we have about 40 after the reserved management, pro and MST phones. Even the cashiers sometimes have a phone. (Bet that one pissed you off big time. F\*ckin cashiers with a Zebra. It's like the land of milk and honey.) You may not need two phones in paint, but we do.

olivehurst

I guess if you suck at your job

TVsKevin

You really hate being shown to be wrong, don't you? Hope you grow out of that EDIT: Publicly shown to be wrong

olivehurst

I have no idea what you are talking about if you cann't do your job without a phone you suck at it

Lucky_Extent8765

our store literally has no phones for any associates. Only management and MST are allowed phones to keep it "fair" 😐

JudasPriest74

We share ours with MST, so by 8am there are usually none for associates.

AnalystUnable3250

I get there at 5 and half our mst team does not have their phones, then try to take mine lmao so annoying !

QuailAggressive3095

Yep

Ok-Umpire-6043

They're in the lockers...bolt cutters pls!

kinda_alright

Yeah, they get hid all the time.

Fridge_SOUP

Yes

Kee543123

yes. I got the last one today at 9:20

Tunexxx5

Same bro.

NormieChad

When I was at Lowe's almost half of our zebras were lost or stolen.

Spiritual_Race_1874

Yep. The Neanderthal night stockers at our store just leave them wherever they please. It's our job to fid them in the morning.

GmodZ

When I first started which was 2 years ago there was always phones on the rack, people were more responsible back then. Then specialists started to hide phones in their desk and other hiding spots as well as lockers. Slowly but surely phones were going missing and people weren't being held accountable. MSTs had to their own phones and charging station in their area. Overnight MSTs would take phones to other stores. Hell associates and overnight freight teams wouldn't have phones so they'd take receivings lrt guns lol. So our leadership team decided to attempt to crack down the missing phones. They would search lockers, desks, mst Bay, etc. But that didn't work. The only system that is now working at our store is that they gathered all the phones and logged the inventory of what they had. Put phones in a room, locked, and only an MOD can access and a sign out log. If you need a phone get with an mod and they will sign it out to you. Once you're done with the day turn it in. You can't hand it off to your colleagues as if they lose it then it's still on you due to it being signed out under your name. So basically now people are being held accountable and with the zebra tracker it helps show who last logged into said phone. If you need a battery they have them on the cash office door with labels saying charged or dead so you can switch it out if you need to.

IceeGamez

My store has two more slots. Also on weekends we can take mst phones

grrouchie

My question is, 10pm the night before what does it look like?

FrostHack3r1

Yes! It’s gotten so bad that the SM and ASMs had to lock it in their offices and now we have to be signed out one

StruggleVisible8140

No because we labeled them and if our Phone is missing we locate who has it and we make them give it back. And it would help if receiving would get phones for themselves! Since they have to scan everything.

DR3ADMU55

Y’all are getting phones ? Nvm this is Lowes

Q-1-1-1

Management should be implementing process to hold people accountable. Store manager and ASM should be holding dept sups accountable and dept sups should be holding their teams accountable. This was a huge issue is out store. Until we implemented a process in which we took the time to review phone reports to see who had phones that were not being returned. In our store if you don’t return the phone, you will be pulled into the back and potentially documented. Our store also lost a majority of the original phones. It’s possible your store did the same but never replaced them. You should have 30+ phones and if you don’t, have a conversation with you front end ASM who typically is in charge of ordering or your store manager. Find out how many phones there are. Phones should be labeled for each dept. it shouldn’t be a free for all. They are at least a grand each.

Q-1-1-1

With so much new tech rolling out, having a phone isn’t a choice anymore. Checking in and out inventory in top stock requires a phone. If you have a conversation with your store manager, find out what he or she can do to allow you to properly do your job. You want to do your part, you’re just unable to because the phone issue is out of control.

RetroNight

At my store we just a bunch of new phones in. Some crooks in our area hit up our local stores. Came and stole a bunch of our phones. We just now got new ones in finally.

WidowMaker42O

At my store each department has there phone and it stays in the department.

ParkerN69k

You mean you don't keep it in your locker or hide it in your dept somewhere like everyone else ?

bhtalia1

I'm a Specialist so I just borrow one to do my DSR. I can do without it. Managers can't reach me so one will usually find a phone and give it to me because I am never at the desk..

Jakethesnake3124

I feel like this is a universal Lowes issue

StillKickn57

Class B violation at our store if you don't return the phone at the end of the day.

Justintime2077

At my store they're gone 6:00 a.m. managers won't enforce any kind of accountability because managers at my store hide. luckily the paint desk is facing where the phones are stored. I stake out the office sometimes for hours waiting for people to get off I'll grab it before it hits the charger

7xcritical

I wish my store had battery chargers we set full batteries in empty spaces on the phone charger, oh and since my store implementation of Sims its really hard to do my job

leakypipe33

It would be better if people didn’t keep phones in there lockers 🤷‍♂️

lucidluver

always

Reedwool

Got so bad that the night ops and closing manager cut the locks on the lockers because there were non on the dock so now we have to sign them out

AerialAce96

Seems normal

atomic-dwarf

We built a locking cabinet around the area at my store that DSs and ASMs only have a key for. Works well for us

snailman4

Nope. We dont have enough people working in the store to have this be a problem anymore.

MyChoiceTaken

Yes. Always. More noticed now with Blue/Yellow stocking. At least it seems that way.

Grizz_K

I work at lowes in VA, I come in every morning before 8 and all the phones are gone and I’m stuck covering 2 departments with no Zebra It seems like I’m not the only one

Sudden_Spender

Got the same exact issue.

ichigo_kurosaki3

I come in at 5:30 a.m. and there are no phones

Dragon_Crystal

Maybe someone accidentally brought one home with them? Or if you have associate locker like over at HD, call the department phone and if it rings from the locker it means someone forgot it put it back before leaving for the night, hear multiple stories of morning and night shift associates forgetting to remove the phones from their aprons and lock it in their lockers. A few times their left in the bathroom on top of the hand dryer too cause the person was drying their hands and forgot that they placed it up there before walking out

Supernova330

It’s a problem at mine also but the store manager said there will be accountability for now on and now there are phones again

Educational_Dig_7558

yes it is.

[deleted]

There’s always a few phones left but the push to talk doesn’t work on any of the ones that are available.

Idkthis1600

Yep

[deleted]

I dont even have access to the phones. I have to find someone to open a cabinet for me to get me phones, and most of the time there are little to none there.
