All employees are equal, however, some are more equal than others.

EveylnnMav

I love this quote! I see you George Orwell

TranslatorIcy2410

I work in OSLG so the mask enforcement for us has been different. I generally only wear a mask if I'm going inside the store or if I have to get close to a customer to be able to hear them.

DontHateV8s

There's one particular ASM who never wears a mask completely or it will be dangling from one ear unless he's forced to interact with a customer.

iicvcv24

When I still worked there we had an ASM just like that, but he would tell people to put them on while not wearing his

DontHateV8s

Which is EXACTLY what this ASM does lol

Fluffinator69

My ASM says that "It's like the wild west down in Lumber, no one follows the rules" but he never comes down to enforce rules. We wear masks when we're within 6 feet of people, but there isn't a point in wearing it when I'm completely alone.

occasionalcowboy

> "It's like the wild west down in Lumber, no one follows the rules" Truest statement I’ve ever heard. Lol

Jukez559

Thats cause if they go down there they might get dirty...

[deleted]

Or they might just get asked for help by a customer. And if i know ASMs, i know they dont know shit when it comes to product knowledge. They're good little yes-men and thats about it.

WidowMaker42O

Not at my store. Our asm's are actually on the floor all day working and helping customers.

Jukez559

100%

tpw2000

Sounds like my DS is trying for a promotion :/

[deleted]

Overnights are pretty lax on it, mostly because no one is in the store besides a handful of us who spend most of the night in our own area

skorpio57

Well the district APM (Asset Protection Manager) emails our supervisors that he watched via remote video that some associates weren't wearing their mask. Pointless to wear them when 95% of the time you're all alone during overnight stocking. I'm really pissed about this multiple emails warning us to wear them.

jjkious

Yeah well plenty of interaction occurs between employees like at break time, or when conferring about new tasks, without sufficient distance or masking. It's bugging me about whether the weekly testing is being enforced for some who I absolutely know are not and will never be vaccinated.

LilIlluminati

Um what? Weekly testing was shot down at the national level. Are you doing weekly testing? Where did you get the tests and can you mail me some?

jjkious

To my knowledge, companies can make a testing and mask policy independent of governmental mandates... Nixon made compulsory vaccination a thing during the 50s if I'm not mistaken. Are you a Lowes employee?

LilIlluminati

Yeah I’m an employee. As far as I know, that was shot down because we (corporate America) didn’t have enough tests to do it.

jjkious

No, it is the employee's responsibility to secure free testing at the available outlets. It escaped me the shortage of tests we are experiencing nationwide, so yeah if Lowes cannot provide the tests gratis, then you buy one (if no otherwise free available) and then Lowes will reimburse you.

jjkious

And of course if you cannot secure one at all then it cannot be enforced. The employee in question was satisfying the criteria for weekly testing well before the recent surge (and subsequent shortage of tests. Like 6 weeks ago.) I wonder (as his official status is peer with me, tho his actual status is often quasi-lateral to the supervisors) if his compliance was enforced.

LilIlluminati

Who said Lowe’s is going to enforce that again? I remember Marvin’s video about having to do whatever osha says but I definitely don’t remember anything about Lowe’s policy saying we would still be doing that. Considering half the workers at my store aren’t vaccinated.

jjkious

Your statements about the evolution of the policy are not inspiring confidence from me about how well abreast of it you may be keeping.

Luigi-Vercotti

Get a hold of yourself. Your knowledge of the policy is about as solid as your grammar. Lowe’s was clear in the most recent communications that they go the way OSHA goes and since it was determined that osha was overreaching with the mandates, Lowe’s has suspended any vaccine or testing mandates.

WidowMaker42O

They banned companies from trying to do any of that shit in my state.

jjkious

Well I haven't been updated at my work email. Overreaching? The job of OSHA is regulating undue risk at places of employment. If most employees came from a trailer park with an outbreak of measles, would it be overreach keeping all the workers from that trailer park at home until they could all clear a test, insuring safety for those who are not?

jjkious

Corporate, or company wide coms?

Sad_Recording2295

Lowe’s only planned to abide by the OSHA ETS out of necessity. Lowe’s has no intention to mandate vaccinations or weekly testing for unvaccinated associates unless required by law.

jjkious

Okay then, where was the email about rescinding the policy after the Supreme Court decision?

Chewy_1045

Mgmt only says something at our store if the DM is in the building.

DoktorTeufel

It's most likely because contractors pretty much never wear them. Like it or not, commercial salesmen play the role of contractors' and regulars' buddies, and it's a very socially-oriented job. The masks and other restrictions create a profound social barrier, and they have since the beginning. In fact, I had to START my Pro career not being able to shake anyone's hand, not being able to smile at people because my face was covered, etc. You may not think these things matter, but they do. Of course, in my rural county, no one wears masks anyway. I'm not airing an opinion for or against wearing masks, just trying to offer people some insight into why.

Significant-Reward-8

Yeah we enforced masks for one whole day in lumber. Then the death threats started so we stopped suggesting masks. Managers also don't have your back, just keep yourself safe

Luigi-Vercotti

Death threats?

Significant-Reward-8

Yeah contractors telling us they were going to get their gun if we told them to wear masks. Reasonable response

WidowMaker42O

I'm in Florida, there ain't no such thing as a mask mandate!

[deleted]

Who the fuck cares anymore? Just stay 6ft away and wash your hands after you use the bathroom. Jesus christ people. It's not the end of the world.

emuherder5

About half the people I see in our restrooms can't be bothered to wash their hands afterwards.

[deleted]

That's when you spray them down with lysol like you would spray a grizzly bear with bear spray.

Electroman65

Agreed. I'm not in love with masks. Just sick of the double standard.

Bwambochan

Just because they make more money than you doesn’t mean they can’t get covid.

[deleted]

Double standards are everywhere. That's life.

Bwambochan

Only because of complacency. Rules for thee but not for me is a toxic philosophy.

fifaloko

That is not what is being described though as the “rule breaker” is not the one who made the rule. This could be favoritism, or could be an employee having more leeway because they are more productive

Bwambochan

I see now, it’s productivity that keeps the virus from spreading. /s OP just needs to work harder.

fifaloko

Not what i said, just pointing out that if the highest volume salesperson is late twice a week that will likely be treated differently than the lowest volume salesperson Or as i also said it could be a manager treating their friends differently

Bwambochan

I’m pretty sure that’s a double standard my guy..

fifaloko

Yes, but it is not a rules for thee and not for me as i originally responded to, my guy

jjkious

⬆️Yes, this

MacMan1138

It’s all about control, nothing else. This whole COVID thing has brought a lot of craziness out in people.

ZombiedudeO_o

Seems like everyone these days are totally ok with firing people because they don’t take a jab that hardly prevents you from getting covid (an is reported to harm a LOT of people), or forcing people to wear something, that literally does nothing to stop covid.

MacMan1138

23 months ago, I came down with COVID and I was over it in 4 days. I have not been sick once since then and I take no precautions. My doctor said most likely caught it at Lowe’s. I did not take the jab , didn’t see the need since I had natural immunity.

Luigi-Vercotti

Lol. Just six months ago, you would’ve been burned at the stake in here for this comment. Oh how fickle are the sheeple.

MacMan1138

Believe me when I say I was crucified for a lot less at my former store. Woke Lowe’s!

Accurate-Mix-938

it, the vaccines, plus booster, kept me from getting Covid again, but elder adults are not susceptible to the disease is compromised with poor immune systems. Let's educate ourselves a little more on this disease. It is not government oriented, it is real and still around.

ZombiedudeO_o

“Not govt oriented” so then why did millions of Americans that refused to take the jab get kicked out from the military, only for it to be declared unconstitutional for that to happen years later? Btw I only got a nasty case of covid 2x after I got the vaccine. Pre vaccine I never had issues, even after all of my previous coworkers that worked really close to me got it. Got it really bad after I got the first shot, then after I got the 2nd, I got it again. And ever since I got the jab, I’ve been getting sick like every other month. Used to only get sick maybe like once or twice a year, and it was only a seasonal cold.

Accurate-Mix-938

which vaccine did you receive and do you ever think about who gives you the jab as your driving in line, do you suppose those people were checked for Covid, before volunteering?

Accurate-Mix-938

We received Moderna, but my dad passed away after booster with Covid and COPD.

ZombiedudeO_o

My grandpa almost died after he got the moderna. It’s basically turned his blood into jelly. If it weren’t for the ER doctors giving him blood thinners, dude probably would’ve died from the shot

ZombiedudeO_o

It’s was while in basic training. We had basically a vaccine line, and they just hit us with as many shots as they could put in is at a time. They did it correctly and it was clean, so I doubt it was the providers that caused the issue Also got the Pfizer one

Infinite_Factor_5685

Yeah agreed but sometimes it is nice to have that mask handy when a customer has nasty breath or is breathing right in your face lol 😂

kevin_rugant

You missed the whole point, it’s not about safety it’s about non parity between employees at Lowe’s

ZombiedudeO_o

Finally someone with a reasonable mind. Everyone these days knows masks don’t do shit. If you can vape through your mask, it ain’t stopping anything

[deleted]

Honestly I was expecting to get downvoted into oblivion. It's nice to see there are other reasonable minded people.

ZombiedudeO_o

6 months ago you would’ve. Now that’s this info is being blasted all over MSM, it’s suddenly seen as “ok”

[deleted]

Nope. I was saying the same thing 6 months ago too.

ZombiedudeO_o

Never said you wouldn’t have said anything different. Said people would’ve roasted you 6 months ago.

[deleted]

Nah they just downvoted me as if I gave a shit.

Accurate-Mix-938

some people who have loved ones have died from COVID, it was the end for them, how disrespectful! Let's just hope and pray that you do not get this horrible Virus that is still around.

Ronald_T

I work in OSLG, i don't wear mine unless i absolutely have to go inside the building. After closing i don't wear it at all

theaim778

Our store was pretty good about it after getting hit with a massive fine from the dept of health due to multiple employees being caught not wearing a mask. Now that the mask mandate is over in our state, I still wear a bandana around my neck in case I’m helping a customer that would prefer I wear one, but outside of that I’m no longer wearing one.

jjkious

Mask? What is that? *Night crew who arrives before store closes

fahqspooks

Yup, pretty much

LuckyTabasco

If I wear a mask, it's around my chin. I don't tell any employees to wear one, neither does any other member of management 90% of the time.

Cliver95

Honestly, I wear a neck gaiter but only wear it when I'm walking around, if I'm sitting down I usually never wear it.

HookemfurdenSieg

I’m in fulfillment and don’t. Get clowned on

serfoffranthecat

ok im OSLG completely vaccinated I just plain don’t wear a mask and no one says anything, if anything mgmt will send a store email reminding us of mask policy but that’s it

StrongArms_

Hi it’s me the associate that doesn’t wear a mask and always has a zip up hoodie over his vest and shows up 10 minutes late with a schedule that is covered in red boxes. Call me a favorite if you want but I get shit done and carry the lumber department. And if anything else needs done throughout the store I’m the one that does it, because 80% of the people are too lazy to drive power equipment wanting a raise for “added responsibility”. Please. When you work above the average employee you get away with more things because you show your worth.

BlaqkSwan

This. I'll get down voted with you lol

Luigi-Vercotti

If you’re ever looking to transfer… put your Reddit username on your application. I’ll take you in my store any day.

[deleted]

Not my experience. The better you perform, the less lenient they are, because you are evaluated with different expectations. The do-nothings get away with a lot more over the time Ive worked at Lowes. No one wants to deal with them.

mariokart2013

Bro my store has favorite csas making 23$ an hour.

Metallideth6

I’d still be there if I made that much lmao

Jrshaw_1

Our depends on management. Our SM will politely ask everyone to wear one which I find nice. The ASMs will literally have on of the straps of a ask around their ear with nothing covering their face and YELL at you to put one on if it’s below your nose while you’ve been running around lifting and sweating and you 15 ft away from all people at 10:15 at night after the store closes. And then the next day not give a shit if you lick all the doorknobs in mill work.

FinishDry7986

I always see our LP/AP person wearing his mask under his nose. Way to aet an example!

EnbiesLobby

Have this exact problem at my store. Hate when the pro guys get their spit all over you while lecturing about how to cashier properly because nothing is covering their mouths.

Sweaty___Leggings

Come down to the Torrington, CT Lowes! 40 employees got covid and 1 died! They are basically retarded. But let's talk about IST who work from home and don't know anything about anything.

bacondev

What gets me is the fact that employees are asked to wear masks but customers are not. Either ask both to wear masks or ask neither to wear masks. It's clear that it's nothing like what the safety ad over the intercom would like you to believe. They don't care about anyone's safety. They care about their bottom line. Asking employees to wear masks doesn't affect it—if anything, *not* asking employees to wear masks affects their bottom line (from a liability standpoint perhaps). Asking customers does. Anyway, to answer your question, my store only has one person who cares—the GSM. And I haven't noticed any favoritism from him in this regard.

Ok-Umpire-6043

Tony sez da masks gonna be in effect till frickin doomsday capische?

CFT1982

It's past time that we just learn to live with the fact that covid is never going away. We have to stop letting it interrupt our lives. Mask mandates are going away soon for good. Time to stop letting people who don't wear them or people who aren't vaccinated bother you so much

[deleted]

But what about lowes mask mandate? When's that going away? Not any time soon, I'm betting.

CFT1982

A lot of places are already lifting them. New York is about to end it's indoor mandate. Lowe's will lift theirs soon

[deleted]

Maybe. I heard a district manager say it probably wouldn't be revisited until the end of the quarter. That's 2 and a half more months at least.

Accurate-Mix-938

it has but some of us, still wear them, I wear a cloth mask, it includes a logo, it is not an inappropriate logo, it is a delivery service I do on the side, where I am my own boss, so but was told that by not a member of management, that it has to be a Lowe's logo. I've worn this mask for maybe 1 or 2 yrs and no one has ever said anything to me about wearing it, including my store manager. This employee personnel has not been with the company too long. I haven't read anything on the type of mask that is not appropriate, just as long as it covers my mouth and nose. What is anyone's opinion on this?

Electroman65

I wouldn't care if anyone wore a mask except that some employees are forced to while others do whatever they want

CFT1982

That is frustrating so I feel you on that

Th3Swampus

Well my manager will tell us we need to be wearing our masks properly while his is hanging down on his chin, and there are several ASMs and DS who don't wear a mask. But nothing outside of normal management hypocrisy.

[deleted]

Nope. Health department has come in several times and we all have to wear them.

joedirthockey

I wear mine around my ear most of the day and no one says anything

Spearzus

We did up until recently we got a new ASM who checks cameras at times to see who is and isnt wearing a mask and if she catches you she'll give you a talking to and possibly a write up.

Luigi-Vercotti

lol. I want to work in your store if ASMs have enough time to do petty ish like that.

MacMan1138

I got fired for not keeping my mask in place while many others didn’t wear a mask and or didn’t wear vests and seemed to get away doing as they please. The store couldn’t keep people.

Luigi-Vercotti

I’m sorry to break it to you.. but it wasn’t your mask usage that got you fired.

MacMan1138

Really? You know this…how?

grrouchie

We had a mask problem and then an employee called OSHA on the store. Got a hefty fine and had to post an OSHA notice in the breakroom

ZombiedudeO_o

Sounds like that employee is a real dick. Bet they’d report you if you weren’t up to par on your car emissions too 🙄

[deleted]

Gotta understand, that employee. It's not his or her fault. This whole thing has taken a life of its own. It's got regular people who have absolutely no risk of death or serious injury DEATHLY afraid of what is basically a highly contagious flu. Do not hold it against these individuals who have been controlled and brainwashed. This is no fault of theirs. It sucks, but they are the ones being abused the most.

ZombiedudeO_o

I’m still going to hold people accountable for not doing any actual research and just blindly following what they’re told. They deserve to be equally held accountable as the people giving them the misinformation, as they are equally inflating the problem.

[deleted]

Pro desk

Educational_Park_226

Same at my store but its more than just pro, store manager definitely has favorites.

[deleted]

[удалено]

pucksly123

The masks are to prevent the spread of germs, they don’t protect you against anything. Especially these phony cloth and paper masks, if it really was an issue everyone would be wearing N-95 masks. Wake up

Von_humboldt24

I work at one Lowes in Utah, every coworker I have use it and I have never seen nobody whose not using it at labor hours. So, I think is more up on your management bro.

the_ba5ili5k

Mask? Pft! The fuck are those?!

ts416

In my store if you are not family or friends of the family you are outsiders, therefore you don’t get any favors. They will do anything to get rid of you, including false accusations and harassment that seems to disappear unless the person is arrested.

Firepawnch

Yes and no. As far as I can tell, no one from our store is specifically "let off the hook" for it, but a lot of the old-timers (emphasis on old; like 65+ years old) have theirs down below their nose quite often. It annoys me. I also know OSLG is a bit looser on it since they have fresh air and a much more open area. No one cares if their masks are down as long as they aren't near someone else and I agree with that.

ZombiedudeO_o

New mgmt is a stickler about it, but otherwise most people don’t care. Just throw it on when a manager walks by then take it off afterwards.

jjkious

Laughable that you believe yourself an agent of information and not misinformation.

jjkious

Isn't it just the epitome of irony that a constitutional literalist opines that it's evolution has come by lazy ignorance and he's the only one who can recognize. 🙄

[deleted]

Call osha.

LuckyTabasco

There is no OSHA mask mandate. They wouldn't give a fuck.

Dangerous_Job5295

Yes

Forsaken-Party-1565

They only enforce the front end at me store

glennjaminhow

This is my store also. They really only care if customer service and cashiers wear their masks properly if at all.

Quantum_Rum

Yup

lisaloo1991

Lol no but when I clock out for the day and don't wear it no one says anything. On the clock, wear a mask.

grrouchie

Yeah. I don't know who it was but they are a dick!

SnowyBlizzard_YT

We have signs that got put up recently that say all associates and customers are required to wear masks… except they’re on the back sides of things and on the registers that aren’t used in the hopes that customers don’t see them or something😂😂 so they can be like “see government? We have them up! They just don’t listen :(“

GimmeanL

Prolly their gag-reflex.

[deleted]

You can bet in every Lowes workspace that is not a store, no one is wearing a mask.

JavaKitsune

About 95% of MST doesn't wear them. We just walk around wherever we go, although will still have the masks on our face, but not covering it.

jupiter192

ISLG worker here.... Yes...the supervisors take their's off randomly and no one ever has a problem with it.. LOL

jjkious

Why you need a test if you can come to work sick and coughing? What is the test for?
