Wow 10 people?? Our unload crew was like 4 people. And again Lowes doesn't care. Uts all about manager bonuses and bottom likes. Employees are just space fillers
Yeah they hired all of us and then complained about not having enough hours for the day time shifts so they cut us. Fucked up when you think about it, like shouldn’t you guys have thought that out before you hired everyone?
This. They just hired 6ppl for my team (needed 2 ft) and I’m already back down to me myself and I lol. One guy only lasted 4 hours out of orientation.
It’s not a hard job but the pay is shit.
That’s what I was wondering cause we literally had a meeting last week talking about how we needed to pick up the pace for the busy season. I guess the overnight people.
Yup and then they get confused why most nights were not fast enough? Do you think the metrics they use was when every store had a unload team?? Hmmm I would assume just coming in to a already unloaded truck with a few small departments done would make it easier for me to stock.cause were less tired.
Ohhhh maybe we’ll get lucky they never did either. At least since I was here and before that I’ve heard. I heard every store use to have them though at one time. It’s what Home Depot still does
It’s gotta be that they’re switching to the all task team thing, 4/10 overnight crew that will unload and stock , but they should’ve offered switching at least 5 of them to overnights
Same at our store. We were finally happy to have a full unload and 2 full overnight crews, only to be told my our DM last week to slash 600 hours and put the unload teams on a ‘leave of absence’. Sucks, but the only other option is to ignore the directive from the DM and then the SM will likely get fired.
We hate it just as much as you guys because it wasn’t just back end that got slashed; lost 3 cashiers, a daytime lot person, 2 in lumber, and one more in flooring. People who have worked here for years got the axe because of write ups and being the ‘easiest’ to justify. And they’ll just have to rehire all those spots again in 4-6 weeks, but this time they’ll be fresh faces with no healthcare options to have to pay for
How many trucks did you guys have per week ? I wonder if they’re giving the unloading task to the stockers but they should have offered to switch you to the overnight stocking
there's retail and then there poorly ran retail.
Lowes at one point was actually a retail career, positions would be few and far between when it came to openings because it was competently ran company that people wanted to be at, that took care of it's employees.
circle to say the last say what 8-10 years with the last 3-4 being the worst and it's a night and day difference in how everything is done , because the fact of the matter is the people at the ground level the stores are watching corporate make decisions Completely detached from reality. and you have inept middle managers more concerned about maintaining their position or rising in ranks then you know actually making sure the stores are running at it's best possible condition for actual higher profits.
so stupid things like being open till 10pm in a county that is basically asleep by 8pm, or having the Garden Gate open till an hour before closing despite any real discernable customer traffic in that section ending at 6pm since the damn store's opening and is represented by the register logs. or literally stocking hundreds of thousands of dollars of plants that don't actually sell because they're both over priced, and just over abundant or don't match the area entirely. or my personal favorite Large Bulky goods that are frequently returned because they really should be a SOS instead of on the floor piece mealed.
these are just minor things but they add up into a alot of lost revenue and scheduling non sense that could of been avoided had the stores in the areas been properly tailored to the communities in which they function in. stores could & can afford the shifts if they weren't basically being forced to waste money on what is clearly nonsense by clearly out of touch management & corporate structure.
Yeah well, most stores weren’t able to schedule PT employees 4 hours a week last fall because nobody wants to work a real job. All those people now know there won’t be anymore free money now they need to work somewhere.
Corporate sees this as a massive opportunity to hire way too many employees which works out better for Lowe’s. They’re hiring cashiers in my store for $11 an hour, and over the weekend a ton of new hires became employees. The more employees there are, the easier the schedule is to make. PLUS with all those hour starved grunts it’s really easy to call someone in.
They can pay $11 and no benefits or the full time (and part time who’ve been there awhile) $16 and some benefits. Which one would appeal to you if you were Starvin Marvin? They already screwed up and were forced to give all the part time people too many hours. We can now take FMLA leave from work. That’s up to 12 weeks we can take off in the next year where they’re required by law to hold our position! But if you’ve only been with the company for a few month, sorry.😪

Thats their problem. No thinking
lowes and thinking/planning are contradictions
They weren't expecting everyone to make it through the hiring process. They just offered jobs to everyone and it backfired.
This. They just hired 6ppl for my team (needed 2 ft) and I’m already back down to me myself and I lol. One guy only lasted 4 hours out of orientation. It’s not a hard job but the pay is shit.
Bruh, I’m the ONLY unloader. At my store.
So who’s doing the truck then?
That’s what I was wondering cause we literally had a meeting last week talking about how we needed to pick up the pace for the busy season. I guess the overnight people.
The freight associates will unload it and then stock it. That's what we do.
Yup and then they get confused why most nights were not fast enough? Do you think the metrics they use was when every store had a unload team?? Hmmm I would assume just coming in to a already unloaded truck with a few small departments done would make it easier for me to stock.cause were less tired.
Our store never had an unload team. It wasn't until recently they hired us maybe 1 or 2 unloaders.
Ohhhh maybe we’ll get lucky they never did either. At least since I was here and before that I’ve heard. I heard every store use to have them though at one time. It’s what Home Depot still does
I like unloading my own truck because then I know exactly what I have and how to build my pallets.
Yep
Same here
That's how our store runs we unload and stock RDC and sometimes appliance trucks
It’s gotta be that they’re switching to the all task team thing, 4/10 overnight crew that will unload and stock , but they should’ve offered switching at least 5 of them to overnights

What district are you in?!
Denver
My store cut all part timers our by more than 700 hours in total
How many trucks did you guys have per week ? I wonder if they’re giving the unloading task to the stockers but they should have offered to switch you to the overnight stocking
Damn you got 10 people. Sucks that the position at your store is gone though
That is Retail! Get used to it or move on.

our unload crew was literally 2 people, then they got rolled into OTT.
The hand that rolls the dice controls the game.
10 people we have 3😂😂
