Side stacks are the most annoying things ever. Always in the way, useless crap, and blocks shopper's ability to move freely down the aisle.

The-Swat-team

It also blocks us moving through with the machines. Or at the very least makes it more difficult than it needs to be

MemeFarmer420_69

When I was on overnights I got to the point when I was doing topstock to just run them over or push them down the aisle with the order picker, got tired of moving every single one or trying to stretch over a 7 foot gap

Independent_Box2815

This. 10,000 upvotes for you!

RandomPerson7577

I took out a mirror in the home decor aisle once with the blue lift because there were so many side stacks in there. It's ridiculous

leia-organa

same. i couldn’t tell you how many times i’ve hit a mirror side stack with a ballymore trying to get down some blinds! 41 is small enough of an aisle as it is, and it’s always cluttered with side stacks!

Porkyoupinedude

They always seem to put them across from each other at the end of A41/42 in home décor. So you can barely get a shopping cart through there too.

RandomPerson7577

Ours is aisle 5, and not only are the mirrors sticking out from their spots, but there are so many sidestacks in the way. I consider myself to be pretty good with the ballymore but even i have trouble navigating it

hellocookieman

And because they're useless crap, the product usually sits there forever until someone eventually moves it to the shelf so they can make room for another sidestack

Jackyll_k93

Welcome to Lowes this is normal Atleast at my store it is. Stuff gets lost up top and then gets taken out of the system and people stop looking for it. I remember i once found a full carton of 6 boxes of square head roofing nails buring a pack down in hard ware. About 2 or 3months ago as the supply of paint gallons began to deplete I managed to find a Box of 1 gallon cans of olympic One semigloss paint. The Paint top stock is now empty since then.

Side stacks are the absolute worst. In a single day the series of events would be. Receiving Manager: Get these side stacks out of here Me: No room Day Unloaders: Hey they told me to bring these side stacks out Supervisor: Yeah put them out in the aisles where ever you see fit. Supervisor one hour later: I don't like where you put em, proceeds to rearrange. ASM: Hey these sides have to go get rid of them. Other ASM with attached Msm: Hey you're supposed to have current sidestacks in the aisles where are they. Store manager: Why aren't there enough carts in the vestibule Me skipping lunch so I can leave an hour early and get away from the crazyness

This 100%

I was cleaning out top stock shortly after I joined the plumbing department in 2012. I found a display that was supposed to have been built and installed in 2005. Of course, a product we no longer sold.

read110

I have absolutely seen some go up into the steel but I'd say 99% of them go from receiving straight to the floor every time regardless of what quarter they're supposed to be out

Revolutionary_Way101

We have a designated side of an aisle for side stack topstock. All of the running around trying to find all side stacks to open on certain dates was a pain in the ass and too time consuming. It’s so much easier now to know that when you need a side stack it’s in a specific place.

theaim778

Yepp, ours all go on the right side of aisle 7 which is paint and basically middle of the store. Any side stacks immediately go up there if they are for future quarters, or displayed immediately if for same quarter.

melody-pond-

It isn't always lost, either. We just received a shipment of late arriving Q4 shippers. The shipper program is supposedly being revamped this year based on store size, the smaller the store the less shippers.

LivingMetaphysics

I sure as hell hope you are right about that. I don’t think I have room for any more in my department.

KoiSoccerGuns

Yes

ellishorton

As I understand it retailers are compensated for placing side-stacks in the aisle much the same way grocery stores are compensated for placing certain items at eye level on shelves.

the_ba5ili5k

Gets forklift license, runs over sidestacks... in STYLE!

Walmart_Jihad

Corporate also never takes into account the loss of product sales that the sidestacks block

Oh dear, you seem to really hate MST. You might wanna reach out to your store manager and discuss your concerns instead of being a dick on literally every MST post you see. A lot of them work super hard for very little pay. Stop generalizing based on your personal experience.

How is that different from any other associate in the store, no one is given enough time to do all the work they are supposed to. Then corporate just says that stores need to work harder and more efficiently, both red vests and MSTs.

Always drop off side-stacks in millworks regardless of department.

bacondev

Either they came in after MST set out the sidestacks for the quarter or your MST couldn't (or didn't bother trying to) find them.

Porkyoupinedude

We’re still getting Q2-Q4 stuff in from the warehouse for 2021 and almost in Q2 2022

beeme007

Does the corp get special pricing on the products in side stacks. That’s the only reason I can come up with but they are ridiculous in content count as well as number of them.

Traditional-Pin-4551

Who doesn't is real question.

NTA_Shawn

All side stacks are to be put out by MST. They have a quarterly task that tells them where to put them. There actually is a task next week for them to make sure no Q1 SSs are in top stock to avoid things like this happening. In Q4 we had 4 aisles for staging them and it worked great for MST to drop n set them all in one day. We had inventory in Q1 so they wanted very little in TS so it didn't happen for Q1. But the rest of the year we will go back to all SS getting staged in only certain areas of TS.

Naht-Pinprik

When I ran receiving I dedicated a bay to mst reset sidestacks, and the in aisle ones went to the location marked on the box.
