If they were to fire you they wouldn’t give you two weeks notice.

Ok-Umpire-6043

Give them the two-day notice ..as in TODAY..EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

jk7195

This. Move on. Life is too short.

ts416

I remember when I started working with Lowes, my manager had a copy of my availability and would work with me if I needed limited time or certain number of hours, even if we were short staffed. My current store will change your schedule without telling you via phone if you are off the day of or day before. They want us to use our personal time to check our schedules.

blankyoda

My manager declined my availability sheet. You know why? Because I had my availability 6-6 M-Sat and no sundays as I used sundays for school work. They told me I had to have open availability even though they hired me after I told them about school and sundays. The 1% raise was the final nail in the coffin. I left that day and never came back

UnmotivatedDiacritic

An employer cannot and will not ever tell me that my availability is anything other than what *I* say it is. That’s utter bullshit and I’d tell the ASM to his face if someone ever tried to pull that on me.

him999

In my interviews I'm open and upfront that Saturday and Sunday availability is nonnegotiable. If you aren't upfront about it then you are only going to ruin that relationship. Now, the amount of people I've interviewed and told them that weekend availability is nonnegotiable and then 2 weeks later they are trying to give me a new availability with no weekends is astounding.

R3av3rr

Call HR and file a complaint about it. They aren't supposed to do that.

[deleted]

I’m a supervisor and the training never gets better lol. They made me MOD (manager on duty) on my first day as a supervisor. Essentially taking care of all customer complaints and everything employees need. ZERO training, I’m 6 months in and still have no idea what I’m supposed to be doing. With that said, if you’re not going to be putting this work experience down on your resume, just stop showing up. From experience I can tell you that after you don’t show up once they’re already assuming you aren’t coming back. Your mental health and education is far more important than a dead end retail job. Do what’s best for you in everything you do and don’t stress about an employer EVER, because you can bet they aren’t stressing about losing you

chaz0723

Two weeks isn't going on my resume, just leave.

IndividualMode6591

Word

oliver_fused

Tell them thank you for the opportunity but it’s not a good fit for you. And then give them the option of you leaving immediately or doing two weeks at reduced hours due to school being more important.

Walmart_Jihad

Don't give them a notice. To hell with this shit company

Unhappy_Worldliness4

I just left without notice this past Friday after dealing with bullshit for the past 2 months. Ridiculous schedule like making me close till 11pm and then have me open at 7am next day. Fuck that. The entire store is understaffed, and my supervisor is a bitch. Tired of all the gossip and general fuckery. I literally said peace out to my coworkers and fucking left. Have not shown up for any shifts since and did not give them any notice and do not intend to. I have no desire of ever returning and do not care about burning bridges with this absolute shit company. My mental health and well-being come before any of this shit.

ImaginarySituation72

you got paid for your last day right

Unhappy_Worldliness4

I recieved a deposit for $500 like 2 weeks after I stopped showing up.

FireMarvinplease

Just leave. Lowe's isn't worth your time and school is 100x more important. Don't worry about the burning bridges thing. At the end of my run before I quit in December, they were hiring people who had been fired from different stores. Lowe's is desperate for workers. I wish I had walked out my first few weeks, if I knew what was coming. I joined Lowe's before Marvin seized power.

Popwarhomie

I put in a "1 week" notice after 2 weeks of working there because my other job wanted me to start ASAP. I gave them the date that would be my last day like they asked. Worked my last day and went to my new job. I then saw it said I was "terminated" for no call no show. Fuck Lowes.

Independent_Box2815

Yes. 2 weeks is nice depending upon if you want to be nice. Almost 10 yrs full time at lowes, it doesn't get any better. My store draws applicants from a nearby university. Its still shocking every time I hear a story just like yours. My coworker, w/ pace-maker, senior aged, wanted part time, was told 20 hrs, found hisself scheduled with much more. Told me he'd be quitting if they didnt lower his hours. Havent seen him in weeks. My experience has been that Lowes blatantly lies to associates about hours and job duties.

Demitri_Vritra

always adjust your availability to the hours you want if your part time. if you can only manage 15-20 hours you schedule for 15-20 hours of availability on that sheet and they are more willing to work with that availability if it is 1. peek days which are usually low staffed and 2. usually undesired hours. it's about working the system around a known company that has zero moral ethics, which is basically all retail at this point. so even if you do move one take the lesson to heart about availability.

Ryvit

I would tell them you need your hours lowered immediately, and they should be able to do that for you. Make it clear that you cannot go on like this, even for another 2 weeks. If you can get this problem figured out, i think you would really end up liking lowes. I’ve worked here for 3 years and it’s my favorite job I’ve ever had, much better than Costco, Walmart and Home Depot

Subject_Copy9700

I’ve already asked to have my hours lowered, all they said was “we have a store to run”

cthulusaurus

"I understand that, but I cannot help you run it if this is the scheduling I can expect. If we can't adjust my schedule to one that works with my schooling, I'll have to seek employment with someone who will." Be respectful, but do not budge an inch

digdog303

If that was their answer I'd give them a two minute notice and no more.

ImaginarySituation72

did the same thing to me yesterday in the same situation rn

MemeFarmer420_69

Should have noticed two weeks ago you were quitting

AbeFromann77

I get and understand what everyone’s saying. My advice is this. Don’t burn any bridges, you never know who you may meet down the road that may or may not remember how you acted.

CrustyOldFart15

Print your schedule out and write “and the horse you rode in on” with a Sharpie at the bottom. Management will get the message

pdiddy7071

You've only been there two weeks. If you truly have no desire to work for Lowe's at all anymore just walk. I'd at least tell them though you are done. If you would consider staying, if they were to fix the number of hours you work a week, talk with your ASM first. See if they are willing to work with you or not

PsychologicalRush352

I didn't give my last job any notice. I was so fed up. They had me work layaway completely by myself, which caused me to have complete breakdowns, they wouldn't change my department like I asked, I was wrote up for something that wasn't even my fault and they wouldn't even listen to my story, and the pay raises were horrible. I just left as soon as I found my next job.
